gorgeous, if it didn't have that pesky 2008 fret marker it would be perfect! What made you change your mind about sterlings??
Nothing, i'd still like one, but this came up and i fell in love with the colour as soon as they were announced at NAMM, how many chances am i going to get to own one??!! I think i'm one of the only people that honestly doesn't mind that 12th fret inlay too

pretty dodgy cover of the day of the baphomets bass solo by the mars volta! i've not dared try the end bit yet
-
yeah my old ashdown EB180 head blew up, wasn't very dramatic, one day it worked, the next it didn't. Was the power section (familiar story). The same thing happened to my guitarist's marshall valvestate head at practice the other week, the room filled with the smell of smoke, we all went sniffing our amps and it was coming from his amp, and it was a lot quieter than before. He had just bought it too.
All of the Stingray 5 and HH models have the toggle switch. Whether it's the 3 position (series/parallel/single) or the 5 position (front/outer coils/everything/inner coils/back), I don't know.
the 5H is 3 way, 5HH is 5 way, i belive
Its funny how most people want flexibility in an instrument. I have had and still got basses with 2 pickups, blend pots and eq on, yet i set one sound and leave it at that, ALWAYS. My main gigging basses are an overwater 4 and musicman. I can get the sound i want with both these basses and never touch the controls. I don't think i could see a need to change them. I think that's why I'm satisfied with one pickup on a stingray, if i can get my sound with a bass that's all i need.
As a rule, in the band, i go for one sound and leave it like that. But i like a bass that can do multiple sounds as i don't just play one style of music, so neck and bridge pickups and coil tap are ideal for me.
-
for starters it's not even a tele bass, it's a '51 reissue precision.... or a telebass neck and a '51RI P body after having read the thread...
-
one i've always liked is the musicman colour "pacific blueburst"
-
i've been hanging basses on wall hangers for a few years now and they're fine, yet another one of those bullshit urban myths like "if you take all your strings off while you restring it will warp the neck", again, bullshit.
+1 on that, you just have to do a bit more work with your technique to get the sounds you want. The 3 band does have series/parallel/single switching to give you a bit more control over the sound although I found my old pre EB two band was plenty versatile by itself. It's easy to forget MusicMan came out with the 2 pickup Sabre more or less the same time as the Stingray, but it was nothing like as popular.
no it doesn't! i think you're thinking of the sterling, which is a different bass, although quite similar
-
the single humbucker stingrays are very very versatile, it's all most people need really, though i like to have two. I've also never found it to be a problem when slapping... Though as mm20 says, the option only became available in 2005.
No, a cushion is the Gramma Pad for sofas! And as mentioned, a cat or three (yes) will get the sofa looking relic'd in in no time at all....Mines a modified Ikea sofa (I'm not looking up the name - no way!). D.
can i see one of the furry culprits to the right of the photo? ours has made a right mess of our leather sofa and dining chairs...
-

got a cat? Here\'s mine, it\'s an oldy though and i only own the blue franken sub now. I\'ll take another one in a few days

i have a newer corvette $$ and it's an amazing bass, sounds great and plays really well. Tried a thumb once, briefly, however i didn't get on with the sound, the feel or the preamp. Each to their own.
-
i thought they were only making the cheapy steinberger spirit these days anyway?
-
awesome, i'm not a huge fan but i can appreciate that it may work better for you than a regular bass, enjoy it! Is it one of the carbon ones? How does it sound? pics?

Old Fender Jazz too heavy - what to do ?
budget bassist replied to redstriper's topic in Bass Guitars
maybe look at an allparts or warmoth neck and body?
