Some of the Samick actives are very light and the range of tones from them are fabulous. I have a few good 'quality' basses I gig but almost always use the Samick for recording.
Neck to body screws are one thing, since they have been engineered that way. But this is a train wreck waiting to happen. With such small screws on thin wood under tension, it will let go, and at the worst time (middle of a gig). Please take it to a qualified luthier and have it repaired professionally, for your peace of mind.
I don't think it will TBH, its a really old repair and it really is solid, but, good advice and I probably will get it checked by someone more qualified than me.

I hope my memory holds up, 1st one - Ibanez blazer, I was in a punk band at the time and the singer superglued a fork and a load of coins to it. 1979 I think. It was unplayable when I'd finished hitting him with it. 2nd, a Guild B302 - had no idea what it was and only bought it (well my Grandad did) 'cos Ally McMordie played one and I thought it sounded fabulous, again, 1979(I think) I still have it and its done God knows how many gigs. 3rd, Aria ZZ - I gave it away to a kid in a metal band I gave lessons to. It's all a bit hazy after this, I think the next one was an Aria Pro-ll and either the UK Subs nicked it or I left it at a gig we supported them at. Currently, A Fender Jazz - my mainstay for gigging now, just for ease of playing. My Guild B302, the best sounding bass I've ever owned. A Guild B301, a project. A Samick active - used for recording only, massive range of tones and never gigged. An Aria Magna series, an impulse buy and it hasn't so much as been plugged in. There's been loads inbetween I can't remember, but I can recall a Vintage bass I bought on a whim that was truly horrible in every department. No idea what happened to it.

It plays fabulous, the intonation is fine and there's no issues other than cosmetic. I've compared it to my 302 and tbh, it probably plays better, is defo lighter and plugged in sounds exactly the same. Just a shame about the bolts as someone pointed out. I think I'll just get it refinished. Cheers for the input.

Got my work cut out here, but it plays and sounds great. Any advice on tidying it up?

I use a Jazz or a Guild for gigging and a short scale Samick active for recording. Never had a problem swapping between the two but I've done it for years.
I had one and sold it to this lot http://www.newyorkproductions.co.uk/sheets/BACKLINE%20HIRE%20LIST%202008.pdf I hated the sound of it but still wish I'd kept it 'cos I sold it pretty cheap.
Either you're selling this or not. State your price in the for sale section, or take it elsewhere. Stop fishing for offers through the back door. And have the courage of your convictions, it's your bass so you know what it's worth.
It was already in the for sale section but got moved, but fair enough, I'll stick it back in. As for fishing, I genuinely wanted some pointers as to its worth. Thanks for the input.
That looks like a sad thing to do. Maybe he should try an Ampeg plexi bass?
Haha, I was put on the spot after it was announced over the PA I would do it if anyone put a tenner in the charity bucket. I knew nothing about 'til then.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gidJlzTdS-U I reckon it's something we should all do once. Any more out there? I'm very drunk BTW.

Pretty heavy but good stuff. Is this the section for posting video's then. Class backing singers BTW.

Speaking from personal experience, I would never go back to valves. I've used SS now for years and I honestly can't tell much difference in tone.
-
Well, I'm definitely going to sell this. Any interest before Evil bay?
I can only see the Mahogany bodied 302 which is £950 on their website.
Thats the only one I can find - mines in better condition than that one as well. Looks like I'll be selling. Any interest?
-
Thanks. I wasn't doubting you but could only see the rather lovely B302 with Mahogany body. £513 sounds like a bargain for one.
Yeah, does sound like a bargain, but I think the ash ones are a bit cheaper than the mahogony.
