I think thats a thumbs up for Chas
aww you guys are just great! yeah i always loved that chas n dave stuff. Top players, and glad i got a few guys talking.
That was in reply to HJ who was using the grouping brackets in order to negate the effect of using square brackets. But if you want to post a youtube video or anything you need square brackets like this:

The code tags are there so it doesn't come up as a video.
so i post the link then edit it as above, then hit post reply and it should apper as a vid?
I had the pleasure of seeing them play when the old Pye studio in Bryanston Street closed, belting out classic rock & roll on the very expensive grand piano in the main studio! Also worked on some old Deep Purple archive material so got to work with some complete anoraks - I guess a little rubbed off! The Bongo (and your playing) is great BTW, keep posting!
oh thank you mate! i saw them at a mecca bingo hall they were aewsome. so was chas playing bass or keys for those guys?

or you could have used code tags so it doesn't post up as a link;)

i still dont get it, sorry. :-(
Becker and Fagen didn't want Rainey to slap the chorus, so Rainey turned his back so they couldn't see him doing so.
yeah i know that story, and they heard it back and thought wow.
Your YouTube video has the address {http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzETi665ViA} ... those curly brackets are just there to stop that address from being "clickable". Take the bit after the "=" sign (SzETi665ViA) and put it between some YouTube bookends like this: {youtube}SzETi665ViA{/youtube} ... again, the curly brackets replace straight "[]" brackets just so that you can see what I've done. Take away the curly brackets and use straight ones, and you get this:
cool so i would do that if im posting as a link, so when i past the original link, i modify it then?
Nice one - Happy Christmas GreyParrot. Glad to see some appreciation for Chas & Dave, much better musicians than most would give them credit for. One thing though, although Dave was the bass player in the band, Chas was the one who had done all the bass sessions being part of Joe Meek's Outlaws set up (at one point along with Richie Blackmore), then working with Jerry Lee Lewis and Gene Vincent. So two great bass players in one underrated band - bet that doesn't happen too often!
Really! i did not know that. Yes they are both really great players. I think that line is pretty cool if you take away the fun aspect of it. Its sort of funky, east end and fun. very clever. Thanks for the info, and merry xmas you too.

Resoect to Dave Pecock and as you all know hes gotta be a top session player for playing and singing this line live. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-16H_c1iraU Please forgive me for this! haha merry xmas all..........

i guess if i had more patience id sit there and do it till its 100% right, but im wondoring just how mechanical that could sound? i did a take before this one dry, and it sounded like a bloody click track. I had it on the cans and it was sending me to sleep! just to robotic. ! hehe
Good effort, as that is a rock hard tune! Getting the bassline right on top of the beat like Mark has it is tough, especially with all the little flourishes he does! I'd love to hear it with a clean bass tone as the Bongo sound is a little "watery" sounding there!
Thanks, im quite pleased with it. I tried it with a dry sound but it sort of sat up too much in the mix. I think M.K must have had a chours and a flanger and compression and a touch of reverb to get that effect. I used my flanger up fairly high to give it that kind of sound. As you say very very hard bass line to nail, and keeping the timing like clockwork is pretty hard with all the right hand tech needed to get those notes out. :-) Im pleased.

Hope you like this, im so enjoying my bongo bass, heres its slap sound. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzETi665ViA Thank you all.
We managed half a gig yesterday in snowbound Hertfordshire or, more accurately, half the band played a gig! I couldn't get out of my house so bagged a lift in our singer's 4x4 and collected one guitarist on the way. An hour later (for a 15 mile journey) we arrived but the second guitarist and drummer couldn't make it. It was a friend-of-a-friend's wedding and we were only there to play for the first dance and then about 30 mins of the bride's favourites, so the show went on, which cheered the bride up and helped to compensate for the 80-odd guests that couldn't make it either. The good news is that everyone enjoyed it and were very grateful for the effort we'd made to get there. The bad news is that the bride's favourites included Moondance, Brown Eyed Girl, Wonderful Tonight, Fly Me To The Moon and Delilah. At least she hadn't requested Mustang Sally.
we are very lucky our gig last night was off but they called us and asked us to do this aft, so happy days traffic seems better today too :-)
