  1. Just got this back to life.. lovely old thing near 60 years old. Sounds very much like my double bass. Nice and thumpy.
  2. A little different i guess but has a very cool bass part, Played on my CS jazz bass. I did not ever play this half hour before I recorded it, but heard it and thought it was a cool bass driven song. Bass removed from the track, and you can get these custom tracks from karaoke version.
  3. hi I hope its ok to post another video, just wanted to play around the neck a bit more, and the notes are very even all the way up and down the neck and across the strings. The pickups have loads of power, and pretty sensitive, almost like an active bass. I know it's not exact to the record but I like to make things up as I go. Thanks. Please use headphones.
  4. Bass removed from the track. I love this version to play live and will be on Friday at the Theatre Royal in Wakefield, in JD king's Elvis show, and it's almost sold out. This custom shop Jazz is just wonderful with a touch of overdrive those high notes are just awesome. This is the fast on tour version.
  5. hello i thought i would share this quick recording of one i play live quite a bit. The bass is a fender 1960 CS. I can't really dig in too deep on this as it will overdrive the preamp, but for live i dig in hard. It's in the style of Jerry Scheff. Thanks
  6. bass is an old silver series squire jazz and a blackstar 250 unity which has a very good overdrive on it, and much lighter than the Ampeg rig.
  7. yes just shows you really, even the cheaper jap basses of the 70s were very good.
  8. bass removed from the track, just a quick recording, not played this for ages.
  9. I thought this was a cool one for our show.
  10. This was the last show of this mini tour, but lots of dates in through the year. I picked up this P bass on the way to the show, it's an older new stock MIM P bass, very pleased with it.
  11. hi yes im keeping busy with the shows, its just a zoom camera plonked down for the fun of it...
  12. I was using my new Fender MP plus active jazz, a little different from the normal P bass i use but very very good. Using Ampeg V4B and SVT 2x12. Obviously goung through a PA. Sorry about video quality but sound is good with headphones. Next show on Thursday in Barking, then up north for the weekend.
  13. Hi yes leds fitted at same time bass was built ...so it says on the plate anyway.
  14. I know Jerry and his family well and he liked the lipstick pickups so has this built. His of course were USA and in blue but they did a skyline version. They are hugely versatile and have a great slap tone and the large dots make it simple to play. A brilliant bass for the money. Below is a photo of Jerry and me with his lakland. I play for Elvis tributes but on the lookout for a black and white p bass like he used with Elvis. He used the Lakland in more recent times but now plays a fender ultra Jazz.
  15. Last week while playing at Butlins with Elvis tribute, there was a Cliff and the Shadows band on and it reminded me of the days of Jet Black in the early 90's playing Shads etc, and was lucky enough to have played for Jet Harries (the original bassist with the shads) and a couple of other names in that show. Jet was playing guitar then. A really nice guy. As always the bass is removed from the track and headphones are best for the bass. also there is a little tube distortion on the bass. Jet helped compose this in 61, and for that time to have a bass driven song was pretty rare. The notes are not exact, more of a close busk.
  16. Hello. I'm lucky to play for some of the top Elvis tributes and with that goes those great 70's Jerry Scheff Vegas bass lines. On stage i use an Ampeg all tube set up, but this little Mark Bass vintage pre gets very close to that real tube sound of the 70's. Just a quick recording before my dog walks. Bass is my 75th commemorative P bass.
  17. This is my favourite P bass an original 81 it's like brand new. I have done away with the PC and using the zoom live 20 as a multitrack recorder. Find its more like the old days of tape based recording.
  18. I have not touched this bass recently set it up cleaned it, and forgot what a gem it is...I'm not really a five string player but nice to do a video with it. I have played the drums a bit different to the original, just for the fun really. I use a multitrack recorder as i like the old way of recording more so than PC based.
  19. I was lucky to get these shows in as it seems there might be another Lockdown, so that means my Butlins shows may be off, but fingers crossed for us all it will all be ok, Anyway here i was using my KK double bass for 1st set and my Fender 75th Commemorative for the 2nd, i also picked up a stunning mint 79/82 verified P bass while i was in London...
  20. The bass is a Jap Duck Dunn with a humbuker pickup (not my doing) but makes this P bass a bit of a beast..
