2.
Electro in Doncaster have had a couple of these in stock. They're actually really nice. They're imported by a guy in Liverpool who hand picks them & will add personalised logos to the headstock if you want. Yes, they do come with the case - All in all it's a great deal if you want a non-branded bass of nice quality, especially at TMK's price! I might go down and have a look at one during half term next week. I've been to the Music King before and they're really nice people. Rich.
Well if thats a hands on view, its gotta be good, may even get one myself! the case has gotta be worth a 50!
  3.
I agree, I e-mailed them and asked who made it, or at least an equivalent make quality wise. Their reply was "it's good quality". That didn't inspire me much tbh.
That looks pretty good to me! I think if you buy online they have to give a 7 day refund so if its not as described, send it back, but looking at the pic and the discription, it looks good! I was in BM the other day, and out of all the basses there, i still keep picking up this £140 pv bass! (5 string) have a look at the pv BLX i think they are. For the money, they take some beating in terms of sound and playability. But they are ,ore jazz than p bass. GP.
  4.
Glad you're enjoying your Sadowsky, Rich You should have never sold me the cocobolo/phenowood Status, methinks!
HI no i dont regreat it i like tha jazz and fender type basses. The sadowsky has a fantastic slap sound and the rest. I did find the status a little too bright and middley, i do like big bottom end and sparlkly high end. But glad your enjoying that bass, its a cracker!! GP.
  5.
Hi there - there was a thread about this in the Bass Guitars section of BC. Looks like it may help you http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...ecision+vs+jazz IMHO the Jazz has more variety of tonal options so it may be better suited to the varying musical styles you mention - that is if you are happy with the narrower neck and string spacing (I prefer a P neck personally) Good luck!
As Clarky says, the Jazz has more tones to offer, although the p bass has a little more balls i guess, but just one sound that can be dulled or brightened by the single tone control. With the jazz, they have 2 pickups, and two volumes, one for bridge and neck, and a tone, that can be set to how you like it, and the bridge p/u gives more bite to the overall sound, rather than wamth. The P bass tends to have a wider neck, and although my hands are small, i love wide necks,my fingers tend to lay flatter on the fretboard, and thats just how i like to play, but thats just me! so i guess thats just personal pref. Theres a really nice walnut squire going in the FS section, thats a jazz bass. Seems you wanna do a few styles of music, so i would have thought the jazz would be a better option if you feel ok with the thinner neck. GP.

    Compressor

HI, im looking for a good compressor for recording and live. CAn anyone recomend one good for bass, and not too expensive. I would also like a chours / flanger as well. Not too worried about anything else. What are the line 6 bass pod compressors like? any good? are they quite? I have a good un on my pratice combo (roland cube 30) but no use for live work. A rackmount unit would also be ok. Are the V-amps any good for compression? i have heard they can be noisey? Dont really want 3 separate boxes eighther so i guess one of the multi fx units. Thanks chaps GP
  7.
you want a 5 string for £1500 or less? Hmm I could point you to one that's worth about that, but going for a song.. check out my GL L2500 in the 'for sale' section! tons of options on sound, & Leo Fenders very last word on the bass.. a beauty! ;-)
Did see it, and commented on it on the trad. I have a Sadowsky now, and very happy. Thanks chaps all.
  8. Last night i went to oxford to meet a guy with a sadowsky, i traded my fender jazz for it. Very pleasd ! I also arranged to pick up a bass amp that i bought off here sunday from fleabag. Its a carlsbro bass beasty 325watts. Well he wanted £85 for it, and to be honest, did not expect much. Anyway it was in fabulos condtin (as was the Sadowsky)this morning i was playing with my new toys, and i must say that amp is a blinder! has a full 325 watts into a 15 driver and a compression tweeter to boot! I have owned many amps, real top stuff, but for £85 this takes the biscuit! Very clear top end, lots of bottom, very very loud! great for what im doing in the duo. www.bsharpduo.co.uk Thanks Fleabag, great deal, great amp. And thanks for the coffee and chat, top fella. Now A nice compressor and ill be happy! GP.
  9.
Roscoe Century Standard. Although I think it will hit you a bit harder than 1500 now (due to exchange rate nonsense) Fantastic tone, ridiculously playable, light as a feather. To hear it have a listen to the first track on my myspace page (What It Is). Its all my Roscoe. Looks lovely too (not too much of a bling bass IMO)....
Got a fantastic sadowsky RV5
  10.
i was just over in France and the support band's bassist was using Sandberg...it was incredible...ive since been to PMT in Birmingham and tried some out and i adore the >UMBO< they have there... anyone use them?? id love to know youre thoughts. jimi
The californian jazz is great, tried it. They are all good at that level, just depends on pref. They dont seem to be the bass of the month at the mo and youcan pick them up cheap at the mo 2nd hand. BAss centre have a nice 5 string ken taylor with a really cool top on a special about £1300 sale is £900. Its new i think as well! GP.
  11.
1. Think the distribution in the UK never worked. When I called shops about Tributes a year or two ago, they said they had trouble getting hold of them. 2. A lot of the USA stuff is made to order. Means you great a custom bass but also means you don't see many hanging on the wall of guitar shops. 3. £500+ for a Tribute is a lot for the casual buyer. But you do get a hell of a lot of bass for the cash. If they could sort the distribution of the Tributes out in the UK, they'd sell on their own merits me thinks.
That is alot of bass for the money. These strung with medium gauge dr make fantastic slap machines. Also to me they look nicer than MM and have more control over the sound. Really good bass great price, good luck.
  12.
Hi Rich, Any interest in a custom 5 string Overwater with WAL style circuit? I've got more pictures and info in you're interested. All the best, Nick S
Nice bass man! but i think the sadowsky deal is going down tonight. If that falls through, then yes im very interested in this bass mate, All the best, Rich.
  13.
Will add pics of case and bits tomorrow, matey...
Ok cool.
  14.
Ok mate this bass and some cash is quite tempting. I really have to think about this. Will do reserch and stuff on your bass but i think what your offering and cash as well is a good deal. It just depends if i can get enough info without accually seeing it in the flesh. I would hate for us both to meet and its not for me, but judging by the remarks on my other treads, these are great machines. CAn you meet half way? im in north essex. Im playing in cambridge on saturday. How does that suit you if we went for it? Rich.
HI mate, iv added the pictures requested on the top of the tread, good to talk to you, Rich. Ps can you add one of the case and any bits as well, Thanks, Rich.

  16.
Well even though i did offer to trade, i will say its pretty awsome, you can have a Fender sound, if you fiddle and put it in passive mode..Or you can make the most of the Sadowsky pre amp, which is something special..Very very light for a five string aswell.. I keep uming and aahhing about my basses..I need to shut up and enjoy them..
Cool. What would you say is its worth? also can you resend me some photos of it again? even if youv changed your mind, would like to see it when you have time, and some close ups, bridge/neck/back of bass etc. Thanks Rich.
  17.
How do I get multi output VST instruments to use separate channels?
I dont use cubase much anymore cos of the headf..k but i think they have there own sound engine, so you use a normal channel i think. But i was using a hyperdrive plug in. Maybe vst instruments are different. But i think they are midi channels and not wave. Rich.
  18.
Its a Fender Victor Bailey Sig bass..i love them, never played one mind..The stingray 5's are awsome!!!
whats your sadowsky rv5 like? was that what you offered on a trade for my fender? can you give me an idea about them please? Thanks mate.
  19.
I want one of these at the moment but don't have the money. http://www.thomann.de/gb/fender_victor_bai...ssv_b_stock.htm It's what i'd have if I were in your position anyway.
That is stunning what is it? well at this point i have a C/s jazz that im looking to trade for a 5 so thats its worth, and would like views. I do lots of recording, and play in a party duo (chic/sister sledge etc) With regard the bongo, i tried one a four, it was fantastic!
  20.
Drop...dead....gorgeous.
Thank you there was another bass i liked that was on here that fender 6 string c/s if the owner of that sees this and wanna swap get intouch, would like to know a little more about the bass, oh also open to six string high end stuff as well. Will just have to get my head around it again! Thanks.
  21. what would you go for and why? I like the fender jazz basses, and today tried a stingray 5 and that was the first ever one i liked it was an 05 LTE. Are they different to the normal stingray 5? Many people say sadowsky? thoughts? how close to fender do they sound? Thanks Rich.
  22.
Is the scratch plate original and how many bolts hold the neck on? sorry I know I shouldn't!
Hi mate, yes its the original plate see here http://www.infographic.com/fender/detail.p...erPN=0131800_70 and the neck has 4 holding bolts, Thanks Rich.
  23. Ok this is a LTE custom shop bass, only 100 were made, so very rare indeed. Retails in the states at $3800 I got this at a steal, but looking for its present value in terms of a trade or cash. The reason that i am trading is because i want another 5 string, and as i just like one good bass i dont want to buy another one. I have posted this ad 3 times, and spammers spoil the tread. Please keep off unless you wish to trade. Thank you so far for all the offers, but none have really been my cup of tea. I have been offered 4 Sadowskys, and while i know nothing of the sound or quality, i did a fair bit of research and quite interested in a 5 string. very nice 5 string usa jazz or p bass deluxe basses sandberg natural wood 5's (jazz type) californian i think they call them + cash sadowsky 5 string basses natral wood finishes or a nice sunburst mm stingray 5 HH (not teal green) overwater progress or deluxe basses (not dark wood please ) Maybe spectors. I had an nx5 xl redwood, very nice, but heavy Fender victor baily 5 string MM Bongo HH That custom shop fender 6 string that was on here the other day! anything else that may be of interest. cash £1600 True a bass is worth only what one will pay for it, but remember this is a very rare fender that will keep its value, and not a mass produced machine. looking for a minter as well. Not really looking for warwicks I dont really wanna drive too far so an hour from essex to veiw is cool from north essex. I think i would like to stay with the fender if poss as i like there sound. I can answer any questions, or send any photos of any part of the bass that may be requested. Thanks for looking, Rich.
  24.
I have a Lakland Duck Dunn Precision and all I can say is its amazing.
They are very good indeed. I would say a us jazz is a very good choice. Out of 4 that i have had, they are all very well built, with very quite passive electronics, and lets face it nowdays you can but pre amps cheap enough if you wanna emulate another bass, so as Rich says, best of both. If you have money to burn, then you wont go wrong with fender custom shop jazz. I got to hear a sadowsky last night, and they are great, but they dont have that vintage fender growl. I dont think any active bass can get that vintage growl quite like the fender jazz bass. I think new usa models have a very high build quality, and having yesterday played and compared the mex to a us, there is no dought the us feels much better built, and a little more hot than a mex. Another great bass that i tried was a yamaha trb4. FAntastic bass at the same price range as a mex jazz. I may look for one myself, although the trb5 sounded nothing like the 4! Seemed less sparkle. Out of all the jazzes, its got to be a usa fender jazz everytime, cos that what they are. Many copies and good ones, but nothng to touch it. The other week, i had the chance to a-b my fender c/s jazz against a lakeland darrel jones. With back p/u solo'd and tone rolled off, i have to say my fender sounded growly and more of a full rounded tone compared to a lakeland jazz. Thats where they score high, in the growl factor. There are many great fx and amp simulators out there, if you need other tones, but the important thing is you will always have that core funky passive jazz sound that you here on many albums and records from 1960-today. Good luck with your search, Rich.
  25. Here is a link to the only other one i can see for sale anywhere. http://www.infographic.com/fender/detail.p...erPN=0131800_70
