I'd been trying to figure out what it was about GP's syntax I couldn't quite get but I think I've nailed it now. Back on topic, I'd offer £1100 cash, you make a decent profit and don't have to deal with any more stress. Everyone's a winner.
Thank you but no thank you. Rich.
 2.
I don't think they do Rich. The reason I was initially interested in a trade with you is simply because I've a Sadowsky I'm unlikely to play (I'm playing fretless most of the time now), but like to have a decent fretted on standby for recording, and if it will keep it's value, even better. I'd like a Fender 4-bolt because it means I can swap in/out necks with my other basses, which I can't with the Sadowsky. Re any implied quality gap, if I could get a Sadowsky fretless I'd give my left arm for it, the tone is very special and the build quality of even the Metro line is way ahead of ANYTHING made by Fender I've ever played. I know you're very impressed by the potential value of your CS but the fact is it's worth no more than anyone will pay, so to be honest, much as I've supported your right to make a profit on it, I'd wind your neck in a bit on this thread as you're coming across as a little confrontational Chris
If you read my intial post then-just a strait trade, no puns etc right? now read other comments then of course i will say what i feel. Any ways as said, no metros, not interested, no disrespect but only us stuff please. with regard what paople will pay, i guess i will not sell this under £1600 would take £1600 cash or a very tasty bass. But in no hurry what so ever. Please, no more off the mark comments, just offers, if its too much to ask then its time to pull it. I really dont mind. Incidently the only metro i did try a few years ago was not for me.
 3.
Don't knock 'em mate, I could park mine plus an extra Jazz Bass in the gap between the neck and the body in the photo above Seriously, check out the threads regarding NYC and Metro, especially in comparison with, for example, USA and non-USA Laklands, Fenders etc, and I think you'll see the point. Mine's off the market now, but if you're looking for a great gigging bass you could do a whole lot worse as a trade for yours. Cheers Chris
I know this sounds like a stupid question, but why did you wanna trade your metro for another fender if they are that good? I see you have 2 or 3 fenders at the moment. Why if they are that great do people wanna chop there sadowskys for a fender?? No as far as metros go, not interested. 3 offers for metros has kinda put me off. No just us ones please as far as sadowskys go. Thanks.
 4.
Having owned a Metro, a US Lakland and a Skyline I'd have to say that the Metro's are a bit special. What's in a name anyway, I mean one of my nicest basses is called a Thumb
I wish i could try one somewhere but i still want a US i think. I have tried asian laklands, and they are very very good. Does anyone have a sound clip link with a metro?? Thanks.
 5.
Please name names as I've so far only found one available on the whole forum and that was some time ago!
Look at the first 2 on the other thread and just been asked about a vintage j4 waiting to hear if its a NY one. Keep the offers rolling guys, Thanks
 6.
i'd never buy a sadowsky metro, the name bears too close a relation to a crappy car that should have died when the 80's did
Ha ha no more metros please, oly NYC ones !! Thanks
 7.
Mine was a serious offer - waddya think?
To be honest i have only ever played one, and that was an old one with dead strings many years ago. I put it back fast. Will try to play one local though as had 3 offers for Sadowskys so far, and all metros. I dont think i would want a metro. no disrespect, but would like a us version. Thanks anyway.
 8.
I think if he paid a low price for it, it's perfectly in his right to sell it for what it's worth. I think it would be a little cheeky, however, if he was to sell it to the previous owned for more than what he paid, but that would be his perogative. Good luck selling the bass And for heaven's sake, put a black pickguard on that thing!
Ok so far the best offer is from a previous owner says alot huh. And that for a 5 string gb spitfire and cash very tempting, but will look into these basses as no nothing about them. Ok keep em rolling. Iv had about 10 offers so far. Not bad in two hours.
 9.
Pieces of eight ...pieces of eight
Hmmmmm....................yes quite!
 10.
I have a nice Sadowsky Metro PJ4 - I paid £950 for it but I've pit some DR Sunbeams on it so it's probably worth about £1600 now. I'll swap with you - I can drive down sarf the day after tomorrow so if you're agreeable, I'll C U Next Tuesday?
No nut ill give you £400 for yours without the strings?
 11.
Hi Guys, Now this is where I want to cry I am having to sell my Beautiful Musicman Stringray 5 string bass guitar due to having metal wrists implanted and can no longer play her. She is immaculate, I always played in gloves, no Jewellery, no belts that can scratch the back, just took care of this beautiful baby. Her sound is awesome nothing can touch the deep sound of the musicman humbuckers and the bottom b string will rattle any pub floor. Her colour looks great under lights as she has a Black Sparkle finish to her. Since I have stopped playing her, we have had five deps gigging with us and no one has yet got a bass that can touch the sound of this one. I am asking £850 for her I paid well over a £1,000 and the rest. She comes with a hard case also. I just want to see this beautiful bass played its a crime she sits in the music room untouched now. If your interested I am near Maldon in Essex. Give me a call and I can give you more details Tel:- 0771 408 9696 Thanks for reading this Misty x
Hey Misty thats sad, can you still play? Can you email some pics please to [email protected] Im in witham, down the road, Thanks Rich.
 12.
upski
Pm'd regard the bass combo.
 13. Yep you will not regreat it, but one thing you will see is that the HD16 is a deicated recording PC in the way the unit acts. Also for great mixes monitoring is vital, i recomend Tapco S5's for nearfeild monitors, and beyer dynamic dt990's for headphones. These will give smooth easy and true monitoring throught the record and mix process and at £199 for the s5's and £120 for the 990's they are worth every penny.

I have owned many top end basses, but for power of sound, quality and sheer class a C/S Jazz. It also will hold value well. To spend 4k on a bass is a massive amount, so think carefully, and take resale into consideration. At the end of the day a bass that looks like a bit of furniture may be very pretty, but for use, it may not be that practical, ie weight, dings, terrifid to gig with it etc...........With a cs jazz You will have a super cool fantastic sounding passive jazz, and a few hundred to have a holiday with!! Mansons have 2 or 3 in stock, and they look very cool. Enjoy, Rich.
 15.
I had an earlier model of that (still got it somewhere!?!) and I really liked it at the time, but once I discovered computer recording that was it! Computer screens as so much more visual and intuitive to the process. My zoom had a window and everything was text, a menu within a menu within a menu etc. Pretty tedious really. I only really record simple stuff. I bought a secondhand mac powerbook pro which had Garageband installed. Garageband is not only the easiest software EVER to use, it's also a lot of fun, and non-musicians in the family can even make up music just with the drag n drop loops. Added bonus: built in iSight camera also lets you record video. I really wouldn't want to go back to that sort of thing ......
Pc recording is great and this unit can also be a front end for DAW programs, but this is a dedicated recording unit, and unless you have a high speced super quite pc pref not running internet or anything else, and dedicated top notch flat sounding soundcard i would prefer this unit. Pcs have endless gliches and data loss etc, this will not. Of course there is a mac, but they are around £800. TO BE FAIR PC RECORDING is great, with endless possibliltiys, but take an age to set up and keep them running glitch free is not always easy. I have worked in recording studios as an engineer, and the problems that happen using pc recording is awful and sometimes mind blowing to say the least. For no fuss H.Q. recording direct to CD this really takes some beating.
 16.
It's strange, though. I've sold quite a few special basses in my time and I've never had a problem. Am I just lucky?
Ha ha maybe, but no matter, if i want to sell this, as all the others it will sell, and someone will be very happy.........as i am with this stunning fender 1970 c/s jazz that i got at a real steal of a price.
 17.
Sorry to hear it. I guess you're cursed...
Ha ha its just lately many of the basses that i have sold have been very special and no dought they will get all sorts of comments. As said, i have seen this a few times on other peoples treads, and its so out of order.I guess people will say what they want, its just a shame they choose to do it on the tread that is a sales tread.
 18.
Of course this gentleman is entitled to advertise this bass for any price he chooses. Rightly or wrongly though, I do think he should have been prepared for some sort of reaction.
Do you know everytime i have put a bass for sale, someone has said useless comments, the worst was with a £4000 spector i had some idiot winging on about exchange rates and retail prices if he had the cash to buy this and wanted it, then he or anyone can haggle via phone or pm, but to not be interested in the sale, and add negative comments is way out of line. In that case the retail was $7500 USD.In this bass fender retail is $5000 but shop retail is $3800 and thats the only one i can see for sale anywhere on the net!. This is a sales tread, i would never dream of saying a negative thing on someones sale tread. The mods should look into this, i have seen this happen many times on here, and on an airgun site that i buy and sell on as well. You will always get wingers, and personally i would never do anything that i thought was wrong or unjust to a fellow bassist.
 19.
Yes, but what I'm wondering is what significant difference the thin cap of wood that the frets are seated into make to the overall sound of the bass.
Looking at your stunning fenders, i guess you have the proof in having both maple and rosewood P basses! Personally i would have thought the maple has a little more bite over the roeswood.
 20.
For crying out loud, this is the "Basschat Market Place" part of the forum and all this chap is doing is selling a bass. If he is getting a profit, so what?! Are you jealous? If he can get £1600 for a bass he paid less for then why shouldn't he? This does not constitute a rip off merchant and you are devaluing his thread with your comments. Grow up.
very true sir, i think the same, but no amount of winging from some people on this tread will take away the whole point, that this bass is worth over £1800 at least. Even if the market is slow, it is still worth that and more. Thankfully im not selling her now as im keeping it, as when the offers came in, i got scared to lose this!
 21.
You misunderstand. I'm just talking about the wood used for the board - not the whole instrument.
I would have thought it was the same thing the fretboard would surley contribute to the overall sound of the bass. They say rosewood boards are warmer, and graphite have untold bite. I cant say for sure, but in my veiw surley the whole guitar as a whole and its woods give it that sound?
 22.
I think the problem with this situation for me is that I can see both sides of the argument. However, there are several dealers on here and ebay (I mean on both, not one or the other), who do the same thing but less openly, and they rarely get flack for it (often because we don't realise they're one ond the same person or because it's the same bass at twice the price). Furthermore, selling for profit is not against forum rules and is, in these difficult times, simply common sense, so whatever we think, we perhaps shouldn't really complain? Thirdly, I'm guessing that had it been listed on ebay alone (as suggested above) several folk would have said "why didn't you list it on BC so we could get our hands on it". I guess GP can't really win here. There's no doubt the bass is worth the asking price and on that basis he's perfectly entitled to ask it. I've sold basses way below value on here before and seen them sold (in one case) at over 200% profit on ebay, and once at around 150% profit on BC, and within a few weeks of my selling it. However, if I choose to sell at a competitive price this will happen - let's face it I'm usually selling at a competitve price to fund another competitively-priced bass and therefore usually need a quick sale, so it's kind of circular.
I compleatly agree with the above, but one thing with regard Fender basses, is that they seem to hold and command high prices for c/s or vintage, and ols jv squires. Personally i would not sell a fender like this at a giveaway unless it was for something that was equally a giveaway and that would be as easy and respected as the fender to be able to sell on for a price that can recoup some of the loss that i made in the Fender. If you keep losing money then a 3k bass will turn into a £500 bass in the end, unless of course the bank balance is not a problem. Personally i would feel bad to take such a financial hit, and would let the other bass go unless it was a real steal in itself. I guess when i sell something, im happy to sell it for that price, and walk away thinking good luck to the new owner and what they wish to do with it.
 23.
I still struggle to see what significant difference maple or rosewood makes to the tone on a fretted bass. The string never touches the fretboard...!
Its the resonance of the basses woods that create the tone. Tone woods etc. If your theory is right 4 bass strings mounted to a cricket bat with frets and jazz p/us will sound the same as a fender jazz! Lets hope not!
 24.
Lovely Van Der End! I usually prefer maple too. I have three MIJ Ibanez ATK's, an MIJ '75 RI Jazz and an Ellio Martina Forza 5 with maple boards. My only exceptions are my fretless Sandberg Bullet 5, my Rickenbacker 4003 and my G&L SB-2. I've been playing that '75 RI Jazz most of the time during the last two months, and love it to death!
i do too as the slap sound is a little brighter. Heres mine.
