Just picked up a LM 800, GREAT amp. So much punch and power. Thought I could never cheat on my Ampeg but think a sale may be coming up.

You are a lucky man. Any suggestions from folks for a good soundalike? Boss' SYB-5 maybe? Anyone with the MarkBass Supersynth with an opinion?

Just a follow up on this one, I wrote to Akai and asked if they would consider bring back the beast but got this as response: Hello and thanks for your enquiry. Sadly there are no plans to bring this back – so its a case of looking hard I'M afraid! Regards Jon BickleUK Sales and Marketing Manager inMusic Brands AIR | Akai Professional | Alesis | ▲lto Professional | M-Audio | MixMeister | Numark | Sonivox* Sheesh, they could make a killing from the looks of it.

I bought a beautiful Zebra Fretless from Carlos and he sent it over from Barcelona, Packaging was exceptional, tracked shipping with Carlos keeping me informed every step of the way. The bass arrived well and in once piece as well as him throwing in two bass pedals as a thank you. A gentleman to deal with, thoroughly recommend.

I seem to be receding in my stagecraft if anything! From playing in quite a popular group with record deal and distribution on big stages, having passed about 15 odd years and now doing pub rock covers, is a hell of a change! Think that age catches up as well, but more from being in some sh*tty corner of a pub with a full rig, lighting etc doesn't leave much space to jump about. Still feels natural to do so if the song hits the right notes and mood, but have to find a balance. Sadly the days of screaming teenagers is a long way away. You tend to feel from the audience and react to their appreciation as well.

Yeah, I have a great battery operated DeWalt hammer drill which my wife has to keep away from me. Shame really! -
That's a drunk, late at night, bored, with a sander outcome if ever I saw one.
Erm, who goes home drunk and decides to whip out the old orbital? A woodplane I can understand, but sander? -

@Ashwood1985, completely agree, but it's fricking cool!

Ahhhh, Steve is a legend. One of the albums (yes it was on record) was Live After Death. First time I realised that the instrument I loved could be part of the melody rather than helping guitarists be heroes. Still do a little bit of Steve's lines inbetween songs at gigs....

Erm, I have one and have never really got the hang of it. Think that you do need to have a lot of time to find the tones that you want and actively use them. Great, well built piece of kit, but for what I do is probably too much. Back to a simple Big Muff and compression for me methinks. So, have one coming up for sale with the Line 6 bag n' all!

Sheesh! Nothing wrong with covers. Used to love playing originals, however my composition skills always ended up being subconscious plagiarism. Alway better at adding to other peoples rather than making up my own. Things change, now its trying to find the time between work, kids and studying as well as fitting in the band, not quite easy. I have a great respect for original bands, not too many of them down my way though.

Behringer is crap! - is it? do we give labels too much weight?

Hhhmmm, one of me best bits of kit was a bitsa amp set up of a Rocketman Head (a New Zealand own brand built in a garage) along with some home made 15" cabs, with real brown carpet outside and fiberglass insulation inside. Never knew how many watts the amp was, although it had six valves and was responsible for my tinnitus. Ahem. Had a large following back home and always had people asking after the set up and where could they get one. Also, the odd snob saying how much better it would be if it was an Ampeg. After all that I do have an Ampeg now, but do miss the sense of satisfaction of having a cobbled together thing that sounded great.
