For sale or trades. £30 sale plus postage or trade. I have a pedal train nano, used but in very good condition (no box). Velcro can be removed. With carry bag which rather handily can be strapped to a gig bag. Looking for something slightly bigger, give me a should with anything. Would prefer another pedal train (mini would be too small again, so next one up?) but would consider most (diago/ staff/ whatever) please no boss bsb range. Cheers
Or you could make a loop pedal (4 jacks, footswitch and case) and stamp on that instead of the plashit behringer pedal. You could probably do it for a tenner (plus P&P) from www.doctortweek.com
I'm using it always on. It's not so much the stomping I'm worried about but just it's general condition over time being bagged up/ carried about/ unpacked, plugged in/used/ unplugged over time.

Recently bought a behringer BDI21 and would like to house it in something a bit more substantial. My local pedal builder has quoted me £60 which just poo's all over the £15 Bahrain pedal. Has anyone done this or anything similar? Is this cost average? Can you recommend anyone?

How's the synth stuff? Every demo I have seen just shows it on funk stuff

Rickenbacker 4003 wiring diagram
Iheartreverb replied to Delberthot's topic in Repairs and Technical
Wouldn't bother with Ric resource if you have a copy, they aren't kind to you/ them. In in the same position as you (copy, looking to change electronics). The biggest difference with out copies is they don't have the 3rd cap in there (which the push pull allows you to take out). I would expect you to lose output and low end by adding this, which you would do if you are going to Ric wiring. Let us know how you get on! Out interest what value pots did you go with? -
I have a copy that I'm soon approaching an electronics upgrade on. Pickups are fine (either Ric or Classic Amplification) but do you guys convert the wiring to Ric spec or keep it as it is? Obviously Ric's have that extra 0.47 cap in there that (on newer models) can be taken in and out of play. Mine is just wired up with 2x 0.47 on the pots where they should be.Does that mean technically I'm going to be the same as when the cap is out of circuit (with more bass response as intended?). Is it worth fitting the extra one? Do you guys use 330k Ric spec caps? I'm thinking of going all 250k as I prefer a darker sounds and less harsh treble, would this work?

Just realised nobody has helped you...so I'll try. If the dr j was any good surely everyone would be going on about it? There is loads of threads about how good (and is some cases better) the behringer is in comparison to the sansamp. One or two demos make it (the dr j) sound horrible and fizzy when pushed. If your looking for tone shaping and DI then surely the pedal would be always on? Then why is the behringer a construction always an issue. Turn it on and leave it there. Failing that there is loads of alternatives in price between the behringer and the sansamp such as hartke and mxr. Hope this helps
Beautiful. Only one problem. It seems your Ric's pickup selector switch is broken. It looks like it's stuck in a position that sounds terrible! I would take it back, get a refund and make sure the replacement has the switch in the middle position, or even better pointing down. Better still, just get one with one pickup. No switch, no problem! No. Really. You know it makes sense ... And I think the "so-called" neck pickup is a good 1/4in, maybe more, south of where it should be.
Nooooo I love neck pickups! Amazed how few people seem to use them on their own
I know a chap who swapped his 4001 pup for a Seymour Duncan, and noticed no difference what so ever. http://www.seymourduncan.com/products/bass-pickups/rickenbacker/
I don't know what to think of these. Bar far the cheapest option. Hated by purists and tolerated by people wanting to make their bass sound a little bit different. I'm personally not too bothered on it sounding 100% Ric as long as it sounds useable but the horror stories put me off.
If you can get 330k I would - really suit the stock Ric harness. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I think it's the 500k in the 4004 with the HB1s and I believe that was a significant factor in darkening the sound.
Ah right. Well I'd be looking at Ric high gains or the classic amplification hand wound alternative (that some people say are better). I just don't know how much diff either pot (250/500) would make versus the 330's

This has moved into things I really don't understand. It just seems odd that heads are sold on wattage that can't achieved with 90% of the cabs available. It seems my assumption of need a new amp are correct and for the people who confirmed this, thanks. Probably going to go with a 4x10 as won't need to upgrade from that for a while, if at all. As for a head, for £250 I could take my pick
geminipickups.co.uk
Thanks for the advice. Don't like these visually and can't find little to no reviews on the sound. Can you help? I've near enough decided on either Ric, classic amplification or Bart's
To get a good approximation of the sound go for the high gains......not cheap though but cheaper than the toasters. I'd avoid the HB1s, a bit cheaper than the high gains as a pair but a bit dark sounding for many. Try and get a good copy of the harness or much of your work will be undone without the right cap value etc. Don't spend the extra getting the vintage tone selector, it makes the neck pup far too thin for most peoples tastes and to my ears nothing like a vintage 4001.
Smashing stuff, thanks. All current Ric's have 330k pots any advice on whether I could use more commonly available 250/500k ones and the sound difference in doing this. As a point of reference I normally roll the bridge tone off slightly just the take the edge off. Cheers
