I guess it depends on who the remaining member is, in the case of Francis Rossi, he was a key member of the band and was instantly recognisable on all of their songs, much like Mark Burgess from The Chameleons, however, Marky Ramone still tours as the Ramones despite not being an original member and hardly a vital part of that Ramones sound, I think they had at least 4 drummers during their lifespan which does support the statement that the original drummer wasn't the key to the Ramones sound

To be fair I have brought half of the gear I own from his shop, he is am amp tech to some very big names in the music business, he is totally trustworthy but he seems to be standing his ground on this being an unaltered bass despite evidence to the contrary

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fender-Squier-Jv-P-Bass/283619694869?hash=item42090d1915:g:DQMAAOSwC~tdaV4- I know the seller of this bass and I have told him that I think it is a bitsa bass, I believe the owner passed away and his wife asked a local shop to sell his basses, two of which are JV Precision's the 57 body to go with this neck has been routed with a jazz pickup and the 62 neck to go with this body has converted to fretless so this is the remains of the two basses. The seller swears the bass is original as a maple neck, 3 tone sunburst body, but I have never come across this colour combination and the fact that the other bass is the direct opposite tells me that the two have been swapped about. Both parts are genuine JV parts and the bass is in nice condition and plays really well so to me is well worth the starting price, I just wish he had listed it as advised so as to avoid any disappointment down the line.

It's good when it goes well, I did an exchange with a guy on here from Greece I had a nervy few days when his bass arrived with me before mine arrived with him, fortunately it arrived safe and sound a couple of days later I also used Inter parcel

I am still playing in two bands and have done precisely 6 gigs this year, not many dairy clashes to be had there then!!

I am without question the voice of reason within my band.....no, we are not playing a festival when 2 members of the band are unavailable and the remaining members cannot get a rehearsal together before said festival takes place!! I mean come on, it's not rocket science is it!

My wife loves my EUB sitting halfway up the stairs on the small landing area, she is right it looks good there, my only issue is the way it mocks my inability to play the darned thing every time I walk past it

I have five self build Precision's and a Jazz, personally, from a financial recovery position I cannot recommend it, if you are not worried about recovering your outlay then go for it but if the plan is to build and sell then I would say don't bother! All of my self builds have quality parts on them, however as a whole they will not sell for enough to cover even 50% of the build costs and, here is the real problem, all 5 of the Precision basses I have self built are fantastic playing basses and to me are every bit as good as far more expensive and original Fender basses I own, I don't want to break them for parts when they really are fantastic basses as complete items so I find myself in a position of perhaps wanting to move some of them on to make room for other projects but knowing they won't even get near to covering their build costs purely because they are "bitsa" basses! The Jazz bass was a build to replicate Andy McCluskey's Jazz that he played on all the early OMD tracks, it looks great, didn't cost the earth to build and sold to an OMD fanatic it would probably recoup its build costs, that was until some idiot (me) decided I wanted it to sound good and fitted Lindy Fralin pickups and top notch wiring which now means break it for parts if I want to sell it on!

On the upside, at least it is in Australia so it is unlikely to make its way over here anytime soon!

Quite a few of the touring bands I have seen recently have used Ashdown bass amps, so they still seem popular with the pro's out there, I had the Little Bastard for a short while but found it wasn't loud enough to gig with what was a pretty quiet covers band so moved it on, I do keep looking at the EVO heads but as yet haven't taken the plunge!

That looks pretty special and unique, I imagine is will be near impossible to sell on the open market, I hope you get it back

I have offered him a swap for a rusty E Type Jag bonnet but he hasn't got back to as yet I hope you win it and can return it to a playable condition.

His optimistic "these go for a grand in good condition" quote! This pile of rust used to be a series one E type Jag bonnet, in good condition this would be worth over £10.000 !

62's for me as well, I have them in my Custom Shop 62 and it is my go to Precision for recording, to me the only thing that comes close, and surprisingly hasn't got a mention thus far is the Lindy Fralin pickups, I have them in my Jazz bass and my 50's classic Precision, for me they give a slightly "tighter" sound which works well live.

I won't be tempted, as an owner of a D-800 I am not convinced by their class D offerings, IMHO my Markbass LM3 is a better sounding head by some distance.

The 1x15 Traveller is a nice cab, well built, reliable and sounds fine, I had one for a few years and used it below my 102 Traveller cab, I haven't used the Fender so cannot comment on that cab

But you are the bass player.....you should be arriving long before the rest of the band setting up where you want and rest of em will have to fit in around you!

I would get it repaired, I have an LM3 amp and it is better sounding amp than my Mesa Boogie D800!

My next door neighbours were always heavily into music and quite knowledgeable about it, I had played them a lot of our bands stuff, they seemed to like it.... it transpired Joyce used to go out with Jeff Lynne of ELO back in the late 60's.....somewhat puts my bands to shame then!
