2. I would go for 12's on the monitors, a bit bigger but you will get a better sound and I imagine with a 5 piece band small monitors will struggle....but my strongest advice would be buy the best you can, be it either 10's or 12's the better you get the happier you will be....buy second hand if you can....a second hand Proel 12" monitor will cost you about the same as a new "The Box" 12" monitor......the Proel is 100 times better. Mixer wise you are on your own...from what you mention you are talking technology far newer than my Peavey XR800 powered desk!
3. Hooky.... huge respect as a bass player......as a person, from what I have seen and heard in recent years.....I can't offer the same respect
4. Your drummer may know other drummers, ask him if he could recommend anyone, if not "Join My Band" seems to be the go to site for musicians....if Drumchat exists then an ad on there should get you noticed....bands come and go all the time, the band dynamic will change with a new member but onwards and upwards I think they say!
5. Yep! A TU tuner, a chorus pedal an octave pedal (used for that Pino sound) and a Tech 21 VT pedal......mostly it's the tuner and Tech 21 pedal that gets used

I love the description on the blade.... "special plywood technology as manufacturing stringed instruments" because we all know how good plywood guitars are! TBH I use a plywood bat...they are great for table tennis.....not sure I would want to sling a bridge and some strings on my bat and start gigging it though!
7. A 1979 Crass T'shirt still with bondage strap rings (I know it's a 1979 as it is numbered 521984 or 5 years to 1984 as they used to number their shirts) It is framed and hanging on the wall nowadays as the material is really brittle, and I can just push my finger through it....I also still have 1979 Acme, Pistols T'shirts, Destroy and God Save the Queen but there really isn't much left of them now. The next oldest would be a 1986 Animal Boy tour Ramones shirt,,,,arms cut off and shoe laces holding the sides together....boy was I fashionable back then! I will post pictures if I am the winner of oldest T'shirt contest
8. A Precision bass and an ampeg SVT2 and 8x10 cab....my thinking is......the sheer volume of the ampeg stack should scare off the locals and bitey animals, the svt would also double as an effective heater on chilly nights and the 8x10 would be the basis of both a small house and an ocean going vessel if need be....the precision is already well renown as a weapon / paddle......they don't call me Bear Griddled for nothing!
9.
My one regret is that I won't live long enough to see the development of the perfect sex robot.
You've clearly not met my ex then
10.
A very interesting documentary, but it unfortunately looked like it had been filmed by a first year art student and as a result it got annoying very quickly.
I agree, I have recorded it but I watched the first 10 minutes and found it annoying, I am just not into Julian Temple's directing
11. Buzzcocks set list from the early eighties, promo copy of Dookie by Greenday, signed Adverts "Crossing the Red Sea LP and a signed, white label, Ramones 12" that was never actually released in the format I have
12.
. Used The Lodge much more recently when producing a talented young band; excellent facility of it's type but the guy who ran it was a bit of a prick TBH (so much so that I wouldn't recommend it to anybody on those grounds alone).
I think I know exactly who you mean I did some marketing for the studio about 25 years ago and one of our main recommendations was that "he" not get involved with customers
13. I guess the original Lords Of The New Church line up and the original Chameleons line up are about the only bands I would love to have seen, I saw them both under revised line ups but nothing like seeing the original line up....I guess I have seen a few gigs over the years with the current total being 558 "big" name acts seen all over the UK
14. I assume for that price you get the garden it was photographed in as part of the deal!
15. We talked about going into a studio but the results we have have got from a laptop and Cubase have been too good to warrant spending a load of money in a strange environment ending up with a rushed, compromised product, what influenced to use studios in the past was recommendation and reputation, we have two such studios near us in Far Heath in Guilsborough and The Lodge in Northampton...whether both still exist I don't even know!
16. I love that initial twang so would ideally change my strings every gig however, not having a string endorsement kinda puts the kibosh on that plan, I only use Elites now and change them every 4 gigs so, with the demise of the covers band, that is every other month
17. REM Milton Keynes Bowl, circa 1988, Supported by Blur and Belly? REM were renown for being a brilliant live band as were Blur at the time, as Blur went on the sun set behind the stage so although they sounded fine you couldn't actually see them at all, then REM came on and gave a totally lack luster performance, no energy, no sparkle.....I believe they subsequently apologised for the gig and just said they were having a rare off night
18. We supported a band recently who had a massive hit back in 1988, they were dreadful, out of respect for having been offered the support slot I will refrain from naming and shaming
19. Bucks Fizz, Derngate, Northampton circa 1986....free tickets is all I am saying
20.
Sisters of Mercy for me as well. Shame, cos they've written some brilliant stuff. Too young to have seen them in their original incarnation in the early 80s, but been to about 5 or so of their gigs since 1990, and they've all been rubbish! Why do i keep going?!!
I was lucky enough to see them on the "First Last and Always" tour at Rock City, they were excellent, saw them some years later again at Rock City and they were dreadful, we left well before they finished
21. A band from the 80's called Ellery Bop who supported Killing Joke on the Nighttime Tour, so loud they not only emptied the dance floor but the whole of Rock City, there was so much bass that I seriously thought I was going to have a heart attack!
22. Cheers guys, I have to admit I felt the price was getting a bit strong for a bass that will always have a questionable history, I think I will wait for a more original example to come up even if I end up paying a bit more for it
23. I use one as part of my pedal board, I run it direct into the amp input with all the controls around the 12 o'clock position, without question this is the best pedal I have owned....good luck with it I hope you like it as much as I do
24. I don't get nervous these days but I do tend to be grumpy the afternoon of a gig.....see that question wasn't in there was it!
25. Hi guys, not having ever owned a JV before and knowing this has had the decal changed, if I were going to bid on it does anybody see anything I should be worried about? Cheers Rog http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131652147800?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
