I have a Thunder III fretless and a Thunder II Guitar, both are fantastic instruments, I haven't found anything I would want to replace them with so they are keepers, we don't see many of the II and III's come up for sale so I assume others feel the same way

Basschat always blames the operating systems for the faults, I gave up trying to use Chrome and switched to Firefox, which, to be fair, is far better but still regularly throws up "Firefox has prevented an outdated thingamajig from working....etc" Does the Basschat software come from The Pound Shop or do we need to put another 50p in the squirrel?

Looking at the Sims prices you could probably go to Richtone Music and order a replacement USA body in black and keep your sunburst one for your next project, or sell it on here, I doubt you would struggle to find a buyer

Can you ask him if he has a couple of end caps for a Precision Lyte, I can't get them for love nor money! It's nice when someone does something for the sake of helping someone else...I was going to put altruistic but it hardly affected your well being!

Just pull up outside the venue open the doors and bluetooth your bass back to the car stereo....job done

If a landlord asks you to play for free, show him this video

We supported the Primitives last night, we were first band on in a major city where we would like to do more, we were not paid for last night and judging from the size of the venue I would doubt the promoter, the venue owner of the headline band are going to be buying new Porsche's off the back of the gig, we sold a few CD's gained a few friends and impressed the promoter who promised better things next year, so we played for free but not for nothing..... Yes we could stand our ground and insist that we are paid for every gig but as an originals band we are not exactly fighting venues off, yet! I assume taking a stance of insisting we are paid for every gig would see the offers for gigs diminish to around about zero. We have played at venues that certainly look like they are fighting for survival in a world of city centre apartments and bistro's , without these venues we have nowhere to play and live original music comes to an end......do we play for free.....No I don't think we do -
I would really like them if it wasn't for that twatt!

I am certain someone said this before me but "don't meet your heroes" you will be disappointed on most occasions, I asked a cousin of mine who was the most disappointing person she ever interviewed, she said Billy Joe from Greenday, she had always been a huge fan but he sat through the interview and behaved like a sullen 4 year old throughout! -
A rack mount pitch black, a TU2, a new one that is similar to the TU2 (and seems just as good) and another Boss tuner TU19 or something, which I appear to have mislaid for the moment (I think it is in a guitar case)

Reading his biography sadly Joe Strummer looked like he was losing the plot at times. not got to the end of the book yet so I don't know if he truly pulled it round but certainly in the final days of the Clash he was losing it

What is the old saying....you can polish a turd but it will still be a turd!

The "of course there is a reserve but I am not going to tell you what it is" really puts me off buying any instrument, start it for the minimum you want for it, if people are prepared to pay it it will sell, if you price it too high it won't, I don't see the need for a covert reserve price

Looks like someone is missing a toilet seat From memory some of the earliest Telecasters were made from Pine so the wood should sound fine in the right context

BLATANT PLUG TIME The Primitives at Sound house Leicester on Friday........we are supporting them so it would be rude not to I guess!

When you've taken your bass playing as far as it gonna go?
Roger2611 replied to kevvo66's topic in General Discussion
I will never admit to having reached a level from which I cannot progress, I will always want to get better, something that may spur the OP on is to go back to some songs that inspired you to start playing but you could never get near to, now try them again a few years down the line and you may be inspired by how far you have come. For me White Boys and Heroes Gary Numan and What a Waste Ian Dury, two songs I never dreampt I could play, the fact that I can now spurs me on to learn more songs -
I think it's the Pasadena Roof Orchestra, definitely got a horn section and may have a singer with an afro.....but then again I could be wrong!

I think stuff can be described as rare, my Precision Bass Lyte is rare in the condition it is, certainly compared to most I have seen come up for sale in recent years, if I sold it, would I describe it as rare....probably not, hopefully the photos would do the talking I think I would sooner use unusual as a description rather than rare

http://www.ebay.co.u...NAAAOSwYHxWLNb5 Ok so not music related but I wonder if there is some kind of unwritten challenge to see who can list the worst restoration project possible, I like the comment from the seller "I will not sell the parts the car will sell complete" err no it won't most of it has already oxidised and I am sure if you loaded it onto a trailer and drove for any distance the wind would see to it that even less of it was left by the time you got it home. This is not the worst shed I have seen in the classics section but it has got to be pretty close!

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Gibson-Usa-Les-Paul-Body-Neck-/281838914770?hash=item419ee88cd2:g:3SEAAOSw14xWKqpg So this was a Les Paul Studio with a plain back, new I guess it was about £649.00 but removing all of the parts now makes it worth a starting price of £730.00 but if you don't want to risk losing it in a bidding war you can buy it now for £1100.00 which to quote the seller really is an "unbelievably low price"

I wonder what the expensive one weighs, I read an article recently with a guy that owned 2 of them the light one weighed in at 15lbs the somewhat heavier fretless weighed in at 22lbs I kid you not!!!

"Seriously?".. albums you like, but you're flying solo...

Now Then by Stiff Little Fingers...even the band don't like it but I think it is definitely one of their best......Bits of Kids, touch and Go and Falling down being my pick of the tracks -
So we currently have two options on the table, modify the JV or sell the JV and buy something else.......I can understand the reluctance to modify an original JV and can also understand the reluctance to sell it and regret it down the line.....well option three is the prefect Basschat answer....simply keep the JV and buy another bass as well The OP doesn't say how many basses he currently owns but if it is less that 15 then surely another one wouldn't hurt at all, after all we are talking Precision's here, is it really possible to own too many
Rumbled........ I thought I was the only one who'd done that! Have to admit I've never tried an 8x10, but have had on/off affairs with Mesa 1516's over the years, which have a mass roughly equal to the sun - still have one Modern cabs are fab, but nothing seems to move air like a big old-school cab......
Totally agree I really miss my 1516 cab (other than the weight of the damn thing!) it didn't matter what stage I played on, what the acoustics were I could always hear every note I played, much as I like the weight of my Markbass setup it doesn't sound as good as the Mesa did. True story...one of my first bass cabs was an H + H 8x10 which as with every other 8x10 of the time weighed at least a ton, I kept it in the garage at home, the only way I could get it in the car was flat on its back with the seats down.....not concentrating fully I went over a new fangled speed hump a bit too fast launching the cab into the air....landing with an almighty crash, I thought nothing of it and continued to the rehearsal....for some reason the cab no longer worked, I took it into my local guitar shop who checked it over and confirmed I had killed all eight speakers in one go, I can't remember what I did with the remains but that was the last 8x10 I ever owned, after that it was 1x15 and 4x10 cabs until I acquired the Mesa 1516

I only really use the bridge pickup but I have my strat wired to master tone so I can back the treble off, I run a set of Custom Shop 69's which are not too bright and a Callum trem block also takes some of the zinginess out of the guitar
