1. You bad man...you...just when I was talking to the good lady wife about selling off the Warwicks and Stingrays and buying a YOB Precision, she had half talked me out of it then you go and post this just to tease me......beautiful bass GLWTS
2. I have the Stage Clix system that plugs directly into the bass, it has been totally faultless other than some problems with interference when using some active basses which I fixed by building a small link lead that moved the transmitter away from the actives of the bass, sorry the OP has had issues with theirs
3. Kitting out our new van on the morning before going off to play the biggest gig we had ever played I managed to smash my left thumb with a hammer...claret everywhere, spent the next few hours with it stuck in ice, amazingly managed to play the gig without any problem, my thumb nail fell off a couple of days later.....roll forward a good few years and three days before another big gig, I shut my right thumb in a car door with much the same results as the first time...in the run up to any big gigs nowadays i wear boxing gloves for the whole week preceeding the gig
4. The bridge is wrong, the truss rod is wrong the seller is wrong...nuff said!
5. If people you respect as musicians are telling you "you are doing well" then bask in their compliments, start believing them and you will be an even more accomplished player in no time at all. My big moment was when a guitarist I really respected asked me to play on a recording session for him in place of the usual pro session bass player he had used before.....that was a massive boost to my ego.....turned out some years later that said pro session man was actually away on tour when the recording was happening...still I had bigged myself up by that point and never looked back...to this day I am far better than that bloke and nowhere near as good as another bloke
6. Awesome, I love Elites, just ordered two lots, that will keep me in new strings for a while, cheers for the tip off!
7. You get days where your mind is just not on the game, i usually realise it after the first song I play, I just put the bass down and walk away, come back to it the following day....if i keep playing I won't get through it I will just get the hump and dent my confidence for a few days
8. I use DeOxit, it is fantastic stuff...i read somewhere a top guitar tech was asked "if you were only allowed one bit of kit, what would it be" he replied instantly "DeOxit" it's not cheap but I have had my can for about 5 or 6 years so on a yearly investment about £1.50 a year it's not bad value
9. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fender-57-Reissue-P-Bass-White-Blonde-Precision-Bass-/111628043469?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item19fd8cc4cd Just come across the above....how many points can you spot that says this is probably not a 57 reissue bass! So relisted due to crazy person or relisted because the original buyer got someone with a bit of knowledge to look at the pictures and decided not to lose a shed load of money on some dubious Fender(ish) parts. At a guess, possibly a standard mexican neck with 70's logo applied, possibly a Mexican 50's clasic body as it lacks the bridge cover holes but appears to have the right scratchplate and looks to be ok for the blonde finish they had, black plastic gasket on the neck plate is wrong, knobs are wrong, finger rest is wrong! I would report it but Ebay won't do anything about it
10. Mine has standard Dimarzio super distortion pickups fitted, it is a beast of a guitar, it's as well built as any guitar I have ever played, certainly worth saving and, if still fitted with the original pickups they will continue to gain value
11. Free to good home or going down the tip before long, a 19u Mixer fight case with detachable lid and front panel, I used to house a Peavey XR800 in there and before that a Mackie CR1604 so standard size for any 19u Mixers, this is the old school metal covered flight case, the best way to describe it is, weigh your mixer, in the flight case it will be double the weight....so in the case of the XR800 about the weight of a family car! If you have a light weight mixer you want to protect it's perfect, if you have a heavy powered mixer then unless you are in to bench pressing small planets you don't want it! Collection only from Northampton as it is way too big and heavy to post Cheers Rog
12. 12 offers and still no sale, and it's been advertised since year dot...I think the seller has a different preception of its value compared to everybody else! i did offer to take it off his hands if he paid me a tenner and covered the postage....never got a reply, must be considering all the similar offers!
13. Yes, found in river was my first thought when I saw it, I reckon it's worth the 40p he's looking for.....oh hang on a minute!
14. I used to work for a Rolls Royce dealer, when i first drove their cars I thought they were good but not ten or fifteen times better that a run of the mill normal car so I couldn't get my head round why someone would spend £250.000 on car, but to the people who were spending £250.000 on a car it is the same as most of us spending £500 on a car, the Fodera is probably not worth the money and is certainly not going to be ten times better that a decent Warwick / Spector etc however to those that can afford it it is like most of us buying a cracking Squier bass....I guess if you can afford it enjoy it
15. It had reached a fair old price last time I looked at it
16. i was told by a Fender rep that Fender do not make a genuine neck for any of their guitars with a plain trussrod hole, all genuine necks with the truss rod adjuster at the headstock end with have some kind of different wood insert
17. I either love it or hate it......not quite sure which yet!
18.
This bass has overtaken a Fodera Singlecut for the "ugliest bass award" for me.
I own one of these Itallian built beauties, it's a fantastic honest little bass, I gig it at the occasional wedding, it sounds great but you have to be really careful where you stand otherwise it will feedback horrendously which at full resonance feels like the bass is about to explode in your hands!
19. Excellent, I see they have learnt plenty from the Ebay specialists such as "he who must not be named"
20. I also love his work with Gary Numan and Paul Young, it got me into fretless playing and still frustrates me to this day!
21.
Read the text too. I hate the word 'Awesome'! Words fail me... http://www.ebay.co.u...=item339fc06b26
Quick tip, if you hate the word awesome, don't watch the Lego Movie
22. I am sorry but for £1500 you can get a decent car or some shoes or possibly Jesus or Hitler, Rick's are awful, you must not buy one under any circustances or you heads will all fall off...don't say recent threads haven't warned you. I really like the current red ones, they give me major GAS
23.
Anyone know if this is still going on? http://basschat.co.u...trings-charity/
I think they ended up inundated with strings and stopped taking them, I had a bunch ready to send when they stopped taking them, it may have changed again but I haven't heard anything in a while
24. I would say the fact that I cannot buy or sell a Rick on BC is probably the main reason I don't currently own one, finding a sensibly priced 2nd hand one that I can try first is well nigh impossible, I guess that is the downside of Ebay for you, unlike the old days of the classified adds the Ebay ethos doesn't seem to accomodate the try before you buy idea.....I guess if I have learnt anything from the threads on here it is with a Rick, try before you buy. At some point I will come across one locally and sensibly priced, at that point I can make the decision as to whether I want to own one or not
25. We have used Parlour Studios in Kettering for the last couple of weeks, first day, there was not lead to the left speaker and the right speaker had a blown driver, so pretty useless, we had to borrow gear from an empty room just to be able to rehearse. 2nd day they had replaced the speakers and got the PA working properly but the mic leads were both playing up, fortunately we had brought our own mic's and leads which was usefull as one of the mic's was trashed as well. We are in again tomorrow, so we will see what we gat then, I haven't bothered trying any of the bass cabs provided as I assume they will have blown speakers! We pay a lot of money to use these places, I know gear gets damaged but I think they should make more effort to ensure equipment works when bands arrive to rehearse
