1. Fantastic amp, I have an Orange covered one, converted to a 12" speaker
2. As someone else said earlier in this thread a great album that is hiding in plain site, for me, The Cult, Love album fits the bill
3. Markbass traveller 2x10 and 1x15 here, nice and light, very portable and more than capable alongside any drummer or guitarist I have played with
4. Your average punter doesn't care what bass you are playing, the only basses that has been deemed worthy of comment in the last few years were my Warwick Corvette $$ German dealer edition (the guy was a bass player and Warwick fan and recognised it was not a standard Warwick) and my £100 Squier Mike Dirnt Precision ( a guy came up and said "like that bass it sounds great") so my most expensive bass drew a comment from a Warwick fan and my cheapest bass drew comment from a general punter.....it does put gear snobbery in to perspective!
5. Yeah, I also think it is a series 4000 bass, I sold a tatty but standard series 3000 ( same bass but with a wood finish) for £425.00 last year with original hard case and a new set of strings
6. I have always fancied one of those but have always been put off by the weight of them, I saw a magazine article last year where a guy owned one that weighed in at 23 lbs!!! prey tell how much does your weigh?
7. I have had a couple of Maya basses, the necks were excellent on both, at £100 for a P it has to be good value as long as it doesn't have a truss rod cover spoiling the headstock end, the earlier comment about ranges is correct, the replica basses are excellent, the Kay / Satellite copies not so good
8. For me it is Pino playing "Wherever I Lay My Hat" not the hardest bassline to get close to right but to get it spot on and maintain the feeling of the original....well after decades of playing it (as an occasional fretless practice song) I still cannot master it
9. I would be amazed if that trade gets completed, even with the super distortion pickups, hugely overpriced sale.....I still have my one (my first guitar) which I wouldn't part with for love nor money, but still £510 for a Columbus if the trade goes through the seller can count it as a small lottery win!
10. Wow.....I so want one, however Mrs2611 has played the taste card and banned any such item from darkening our toilet
11. It weighs in at just under 10lbs and has a standard Precision nut width, a new set of strings, a bloody good clean up and everything works as it should, the neck is quick and easy, everything a Jap precision should be really,
12. Just tooooo tempting I am afraid
13. I have to admit it is tempting at that price.....just can't justify it at the moment
14. Sounds like a typical vocalist to me.....the better they are the more objectionable they can be....ours independently appointed himself as musical director even though he can't play a single instrument....I just let him get on with it up to a point where I get pished off with him, I then take great pleasure in exposing his total lack of understanding of music and hence sending him scurrying back into his box for a couple of months...the rest of the band have an agreement that this is how we deal with him....the point of this is....he is a damn fine singer and a bloody good front man....can we do better...simply, no, so in the interests of having the best band we can we tolerate and humour where needed, he is not a total arse just a typical front man!
15. I posted our latest song on here a while back, definitely the best song I have ever played on, but how does it stand to critique from your peers? It took a lot of soul searching before I decided to share it....shouldn't have worried, it got 2 listens and 2 comments only.....I guess most people on here are not really interested in what your fellow Baschatters are creating.....said song got played on Radio 1 a few weeks later.....after 30 years of trying....did I mention it on here at the time.....nah didn't bother
16. I have always loved the bass sound on Killing Joke's "Love Like Blood" when mixed with the stunning bass / snare combination on the drums it made for a memorable sound which I think still stands up today http://youtu.be/6NPSNFsZWzs
17. We played a gig at a rather rough pub in Corby one time.....part way through the set this huge tattooed, skinhead Scotsman staggered over and hollowed Coldplay.....then in a really effeminate high pitched voice sang the words "Fix You" then wandered off out of the pub and never came back!
18. I would definitely recommend this, it has a really nice EQ sweep it will give you the 10 channels you are looking for and Allen Heath is one of the best names in mixers, I use a 16 channel desk in my studio, I brought it to upgrade from a Mackie 1604 desk and wow it is an upgrade http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Allen-and-Heath-ZED60-14FX-Analogue-Mixer-with-USB-/161318577938?pt=UK_Musical_AudioMIDI_Interfaces&hash=item258f562712
19. The start of Sex on Fire.....we have been playing it for six years now and the drummer and guitarist still cannot agree with the timings....that leaves muggins here stuck in the middle....I tend to go with the drummer....as the lessor of two evils!
20. That looks like a pretty good set to me, I may add Ever Fallen in Love, Buzzcocks and Mr Brightside The Killers to that list if I may
21. I have liked nearly all but there were 4 or 5 pages that refused to open?
22. I used to love my 78 USA Precision through a Trace Elliot Twin Valve into a Mesa Boogie 1516E cab, it sounded immense but weighed a ton, nowadays it's a Stingray through an Ampeg Pro 7 SVT and a couple of Mark Bass cabs, yeah it sounds great but I think I still prefer the older set up
23. Here is my band https://www.facebook.com/Yodaclub don't really know why but we have picked up a whole bunch of totally unexpected likes in the last couple of weeks, some in Mexico and India and a good few in London.....needless to say we have played none of these locations
24. I reckon they came out in 2005/6 that's when I brought mine and it has a different neck profile to any others I have played, the dealer did say it was a dealer demo model....so yeah 10 years of play at best but if it has the same chunky neck profile as mine it will be a cracker
25.
First off, I'd say 'performance' follows practice and regular gigging. Once you get comfortable with the material, your band mates and playing in front of an audience, you'll find you have more mental time to think about your moves and facial expressions. Secondly, most places we play have such small playing areas that as a five piece, movement is strictly as required and co-ordinated. Thirdly, if you all enjoy what you are doing, then just smiles and silly faces between band members allows more audience 'contact' than playing with your bass behind your head whilst doing the splits ever will. If you don't enjoy what your doing, no amount of sharp moves will disguise the fact that your just doing your job.
What he said....totally what he said!
