1. I have been more impressed with the Sub's I have played over most of the more expensive Stirling Ray 34's I tried, he wont go far wrong with a Sub
2. Eton Rifles Down in a Tube Station at Midnight Going Underground Mr Brightside White Wedding then we dive into the predictable Sex on Fire, Dakota, American Idiot and All the Small Things
3. I thought the Jam, Tube Station may be on there, every band I have seen recently has played it......not as well as I do, obviously.....even saw some dodgy outfit called "From The Jam" do it recently but to be fair their bass player did it pretty well
4. Looking at the description he has had the bass for a good number of years.....yeah like 2 months, I have messaged him to ask why he is not claiming back from the original seller as he was fully aware the bass was not genuine. It really pi55es me off that Ebay did nothing about the original listing so the potential rip off just continues on and on, with 4 bidders it will be back on sale in a week or two by a new owner who has had it for a good few years....by the time it's gone through the hands of all the owners that have had it for "a good few years" it will have been owned for a good few years longer than the age its supposed to be!
5. When my grandad passed away many years ago now, I was left a small amount of cash (just enough to buy a Gretsch White Falcon to be precise) They used to be a shop in Coventry with some beautiful guitars on the wall with a used Falcon amongst them, I drew the cash out of the bank and went into the shop, I said I would like to try the falcon out, the shop keeper looked at me and said "sorry mate you can't afford it" I was so embarrassed that I just walked out of the shop and never went back (it closed down soon afterwards.....I wonder why!) I have still never owned my dream guitar. I worked in sales some years later and never forgot that idiot in Coventry, I sold cars to people who walked through the door that clearly looked like they could not afford it!
6. For me it is first come first served, everything is run by my good lady wife who tells me where and when I am playing...she is my manager, chief roadie and number 1 fan!
7.
.... also, for me switching back and forth between 4's and 5's wasn't helpful. It complicated the learning process so my recommendation is to put the 4 away and don't use it.
That is exactly my problem, switching between a 4 and 5 string bass is not comfortable, I have some lovely 4 string basses and one nice (Godlyke) 5 string, I could easily get very used to the string spacing and adaptability of the 5 string but that would be at the expense of the 4 stringers so for that reason I deliberately don't use the 5 very often as I don't want to get too comfortable with it
8. I really like the Sisters Of Mercy cover of Hot Chocolate's "Emma" the original just seems to lack passion to me
9. I am trying to ensure the bass is definitely in the mix https://soundcloud.com/yodaclub/walkaway-radio-edit
10. I will show it to my wife just remind her how lucky she is
11. Did the RHCP reference mean Right Horrible Chav People?
12. If you don't mind lugging round heavy gear, a pair of Peavey Hysis 2's and one of their XR mixer amps will do you proud and are not overly expensive nowadays, monitor wise Proel do a nice powered monitor for a few hundred pounds, if not that the Warfdale powered monitors are well regarded
13. We had a pub in Corby that double booked us twice, we turned up only to find another band already set up, the landlord swore blind it was our error, we sent him the confirmation email that he had sent us confirming the dates for the year....he didn't reply, 3 weeks later he rings us up whilst we are setting up at another venue demanding to know where we are! Same confirmation email sent back to him again. We didn't play there for a couple of years after that, that landlord has now gone so we are booked back in there next year. We now send a confirmation of dates email to all landlords that have booked us and we follow that up with a phone call the day before the gig to confirm we are still playing
14. Not me, I am the technical one, I maintain the PA and lights and get amps fixed when needed, the booking of gigs and rehearsals and all other admin are left to the guitarist who is a HR manager......I will happily leave it to him......it has worked well for six years so far
15. my ultimate dream bass......love it, want it......can I afford it?.....sadly no......oh why must you tease me so
16. Radio 6 has been playing them, I liked the song Tiswas, I can see the JCC connection in their stuff
17. My Markbass rig is very portable and perfectly gigable, probably doesn't sound as good as my old Mesa Boogie set up but it doesn't take two of us to lift it in and out of the car and venue, a compromise I am willing to accept
18. My dad loved his music and brought him to the Jazz Tent at the Northampton Show many years back, I was doing the sound for council events at the time so ended up doing the sound for him, top guy, hopefully he can join my old man at a jazz club in the sky!
19. "For the stunning price of £1499" yep stunning about sums it up really
20.

There had to be one didn't there
21. I would replace like for like, I am happy with the sound I have, I probably wouldn't go for another Hiwatt guitar head as it hasn't really given me the sound I hoped, I would probably buy an Ampeg SVT 7 Pro instead...I would also buy a big bitey dog to eat the scroat that stole my rig in the first place
22. The Boss TU2 or 3 has been the industry standard for many years for good reason, I brought a Peterson tuner to replace my TU2 as the Peterson's are supposed to be the dogs doodahs, the first thing I did was tune up with the TU2 then see how far it was out compared to the Peterson.....guess what it was absolutely bang on in tune.......1 Peterson tuner sold and one Boss TU2 safely back on the pedal board
23. Two famous musicians in a week now, sad week, RIP Jack and RIP Alvin
