Evening all, having been a Basschatter for 12 years now I thought I’d better say ‘hello’. I guess I’m just a bit shy..... I’ve been playing bass now for about 40 years, and if only that was 40 years of continual progress I’d be pretty darn good by now. Hey ho. My current gear is as follows: Guitars: Fender Jazz AVRI ‘75, Fender American Standard Precision, Musicman Stingray, and a Spector Euro Doug Wimbish Amplification: Orange Bass Terror V2 (with a clean switch), and two Orange OBC-112 cabs (incoming) It’s taken me a while to get to this point, but I’m almost certain all of the above are now keepers. Having bought and sold gear to most people on here over the years some may doubt my words, but I don’t, currently 😉 The bassists I love, and who set me off on this foray, are the likes of Bruce Foxton, JJ Burnel, John Deacon, Phil Lynott and Adam Clayton, to name but a few. Good solid steady low-enders who often join in with the song’s riff, or add something fitting and/or complementary. Band-wise, I’m still doing the covers thing, and still really enjoying it, with a Barnstaple band called The Rogues. I also join in quite regularly with a local duo in our village called Mini Hates The Hoover. I think that’s it, so I’ll go quiet now for another 12 years 😎

Reduced to £600 My modular Orange revolution continues, hence, the Berg has to go to fund this. No trades, please. I can’t ship, due to size/weight/worry/lack of box, but will meet halfway within reason, or further for a fuel contribution. It’s in VGC bar a tiny dink on the rear RHS as per the photo, works perfectly, and sounds terrific. I’ve cribbed the tech spec from @Dood’s ad - hope that’s okay, sir, and here it is: From one of the finest bass cabinet designers of the 21st Century comes a new range of lightweight cabinets using cutting edge Neodymium speaker technology coupled with advanced lightweight cabinet design. Using only the highest grade lightweight void free Baltic birch and precision built custom drivers, this new range of cabinets from Bergantino Audio are already another hugely popular addition from this established company. The Bergantino Audio Systems ‘Carbon Neo’ CN series of lightweight speaker cabinets nod their head to the traditional HD series but have a different function. These are the lightest speaker cabinets that we make. The precision tuned cabinet architecture and the enclosures are built with the finest lightweight Italian poplar plywood (with Baltic birch baffle boards) selected to our specifications. This lightweight cabinet material (along with the lightweight magnet material) helps reduce the overall cabinet weight. The lightweight carbon covering is used for cabinet cover material and is also lighter than the traditional tolex covering found on most speaker cabinets. A rigid black grille is added to protect the drivers from damage. The internal components used are extremely high quality and they are of Bergantino design. No ‘off-the-shelf’ parts are used. Woofers with Neodymium magnet material are used for the low frequency section of the CN series cabinets. The Neodymium drivers have a punchier low-end and a very sweet midrange that is placed a little more forward in the sound field when compared to the HD series. Fretless and upright players will often prefer the CN cabinets because of how the midrange ‘speaks’ with their instruments. The CN series cabinets have a high intelligibility tweeter mated to the woofers through a custom designed phase-coherent crossover with a tweeter control. Because of the increased cost of the Neodymium magnet material, imported wood for the cabinetry and the unique covering material, the CN series speakers cost more than the HD series, but may just be the right match for your playing style and weight needs. Model CN212 specifications: •2 x 12" Custom Neodymium drivers with 7 oz magnets •high intelligibility 1" tweeter •custom phase - coherent crossover with tweeter level control •Precision tuned 100% Baltic Birch cabinet •power handling - 700 watts rms frequency response: tbc •sensitivity: tbc db @ 1 Watt/1 meter •2 x 1/4" and 2 x neutrik connectors •impedance: 4 ohms •dimensions: 31"H x 18-1/2"W x 15"D •79cm x 46cm x 38cm •weight: 46lbs/20 Kgs

2011 Gibson Thunderbird Bass in good condition. I’d score it 7 out of 10. Nice and light, at just over 8 lbs. It does have some ‘lovebites’ through usage acquired over the years, but these just add character IMHO. Just had the action set nice and low but no buzzing, by a skilled tech - see the picture. Plays and sounds lovely and, well, thunderous. Fitted with Dunlop straplocks, originals included. Complete with original case. Half way meet within reason possible, further for a fuel contribution, or can ship at your cost/risk - I’m guessing £35 or thereabouts, with insurance. Any test or trial most welcome. No trades, please.

**** Final reduction to £850 **** Bergantino B|Amp for sale. One year old and in fabulous condition, with manual, Bergantino bag and original box. It still has the plastic screen protector and USB port plug, and the firmware is current, I believe. No issues, a truly superb amp - check out the reviews - only I’ve fallen for something Orange and lunchbox shaped (don’t!), so this has to go. Would prefer to do a socially distanced meet, within reason (Bristol, Exeter) or further afield for a fuel contribution. Will ship, but at your cost/risk, and I’ll insist on insurance. No trades please. It’s priced fairly, and you’re saving over £300 on a new one. Check out my feedback if you want, as I’m a regular of this ‘ere parish. Sold Sean some Schaller Straplocks - now there’s an alliterative tongue-twister! A pleasure to deal with, and happy to recommend to all.
-
Another seamless transaction with Martin - sell to him here with confidence!
-
All complete sets now sold, just the bits described below left - any takers? I also have four used pairs of the Schaller Straplock bits that go on the strap only i.e. there is no fitting to go on the guitar itself. Of these four pairs, one is black, and three are shiny. £6 a pair seems fair for these, including postage.

Four Thomann PAR56 20w LED lights and gel filters, plus mounting bar, plus padded bag, plus sturdy floor stand, plus two Ryger DMX controller units (one spare), and instructions. Two slight issues, one light doesn’t do blue, and another light doesn’t do green, but they both do all the other colours. That said, I’ve been using them for about four years and nobody noticed. Replacement lights are about £50 from Thomann if you want perfection. The whole rig would probably cost £400 to £500 to assemble from new. Video added of lights in action. Can be set to sound to light, or via a multitude of pre-programmed patterns. Whatever you do, using them really makes your band look that bit more professional and adds atmosphere to any gig. Can be seen working. Collection preferred from near Minehead, or can deliver within reasonable distance. Social distancing rules to be adhered to, please.

Trace Elliot 130 watt bass combo, working perfectly. Fantastic range of sounds, all of them good, and ideal for (loud) home or rehearsal room use, or small gigs. Seven band graphic equaliser, dual band compressor, pre-shape facility, effects loop and a DI and line out. Collection preferred from near Minehead, or may be able to deliver within reasonable distance. Any trial welcome, and can be seen working. Socially distanced rules for collection, please.

PM’d.

I use iTunes, and purchase any song that I haven’t got, and need, but the song will be downloaded on your PC in M4a format. I then convert it using a M4a to MP3 shareware conversion thingy - your Tascam will probably only recognise MP3 format files. Sounds complex, but it isn’t. I’ll dig out the conversion shareware name tomorrow, if you want it.

First rate chap - good comms, prompt payer, and a pleasure to deal with - many thanks!

Last reduction - now a firm £500 Black Crafted In Japan Geddy Lee Jazz bass. Made in 2007-8 according to the interweb look-up thingy. It has mild relic-ing (is that even a word?) and EMG pickups, fuelled by a professionally fitted battery compartment in the rear. Both of these were already done when I bought it - the old thread is here: It weighs 3.75 kilos, or 8.25 lbs in old money. Condition wise, I’d say 7.5 out of 10. There's a couple of dings as per the photos, but it’s generally in vgc. If I can find the white pickguard, I’ll include it too. Plays very nicely and yes, ‘that neck’ is superb. If you’re local, you’re welcome to come and try it. Spring sale (incoming, so needs to go). No trades, please. Okay with a halfway meet within reason - I’m near Minehead in Somerset. Happy to ship too, as I have an okay-ish hard case for it, and a decent cardboard box too. Add £40 for shipping (UK only) with insurance and if there’s any change, I’ll pass it back to you.

No trades (okay, maybe a Spector) Only made in 2013, and sold for about £2,100 at the time, I’m told. Weighs 9lb 3oz and is in vgc. I’d give it 9/10 on my own scoring system. Comes complete with the proper case and all the candy (covers, thumb rest, etc). Any trial or test is most welcome, coffee provided too. Happy to meet half way within reason, or can ship for whatever it costs with insurance (£40’ish?) as I have a decent box (ooh err). Sadowsky NYC Deluxe 4-21 flame maple, caramel burst, with a Pau Ferro fingerboard. 4A flame maple top, 2 band eq with VTC. Weighs in at 7lb 15oz (3.5 kilos). I bought this new for £3,600 five months ago to be the bass to end all GAS, but after a few gigs (without it, it’s never left the house) I’ve realised I won’t ever use it in the sort of places where I gig. It’s immaculate, and is staying that way. Any trial or test is most welcome. Here’s a link to the original BassDirect ad: http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Sadowsky_DLX_Satin_4_Caramel.html Here’s a bit more spec: Body - Alder chambered Top - 4A Flame maple Neck - Maple, 34” scale Nut width - 3.81cm Fingerboard - Pau Ferro Fingerboard radius - 12”, 21fret Pickguard - Parchment Pickups - Sadowsky Hum Cancelling Preamp - Sadowsky, 2 band, VTC Bridge - Sadowsky, high mass Tuners - Hipshot Ultra Lights Case - Sadowsky Softcase Happy to ship anywhere (I have the Sadowsky case and box), but I want the money in my bank account before it leaves here, and I’d strongly recommend a quality courier and insurance. I’ll get some nice photos done outside if it ever stops raining here. Stop Press - still raining, so here’s some fresh indoor shots, taken without a flash:
