2. In spite of never having broken a string in 30 years of playing, I always take a spare bass and I keep a Superfly in the car in case the amp decides to take a night off. I did have an amp die on me mid-gig once and I didn't have a backup - never again.

Pod X3 Live

I've been using an X3 live for about 3 months and I am very pleased with it. The amp simulations are great and some of the effects aren't bad. Great compressor! I used to use an XT live, but the X3 has the abilty to blend two patches and a DI. That sold me on it.
4. About 3 years ago, I bought an Ashdown ABM 410 on eBay - the owner was also selling an ABM 115. Turns out that the seller was Dave Bronze and he used both of the Ashdown cabs when he played with Eric Clapton at the George Harrison tribute concert at the Albert Hall. I still have the cab, but I don't use it any more and I cannot convince myself to sell it.

6.
That sounds perfect! Righto, off to ebay to search for cheap 2 channel power amps. I hear Crown and QSC are good. What should I look out for when considering bass-specific performance?
I can highly recommend the QSC PLX 1802. I have been using one for about a year and it really does the job. For bass, I think you need to look for a power amp with a high damping factor - at least 300. The QSC has a damping factor > 500.

8. Why not just put the effects between your bass and amp. Then you can send a pre-eq signal to the desk that will include your effects. Chris.
9. I use a QSC PLX 1802 and it has loads of power - more than I will ever need. I usually run it into a Schroeder 410, but I have a Schroeder 1210 for smaller gigs. You are welcome to try it out if you are in the Oxford area.
10. Like others have mentioned, I use mine to kill the boom on hollow stages. There may be a slight loss of bottom end, but it is more than made up for by the increase in clarity. They do seem expensive for a slab of particle board with some foam stuck on the bottom, but they work! Chris.
11. I ordered one last Sunday and it arrived today. It looks to be well made and fits perfectly. I'm happy Chris.
12. I use the Sennheiser EW100 G2. I have been using it for a year or so and it has never missed a beat. Chris.
13. I was doing a Google search for info on the Bass Pod XT Live.
14. We recorded it for our demo CD and the bass is a little easier to hear than on the record. Take Your Mama Hope it helps. Chris.
