1. I use a looper, mainly at home for practicing timings and getting some chord progression or melody ideas that help playing live. I used to find bass quite 'difficult' to practice alone so my looper proved a good friend. You can struggle to find a start, middle and end with them with but with other effects you can create some interesting textures. Its all about getting your ideas out there and looping is one way of doing that.
2. Although I'm aware that we should responsible for the quality of our own online content, the attached started out as a loop and then just noodled for a while..... Not much to look at, so feel free to close your eyes and listen.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGfaDH2iudU

4. hmmmmm.... Led Zep II & Pork Soda (Primus) One solid, one on another planet
5. SWR Goliath III Junior Cab. Left speaker was changed years ago and all in good working order The cab has been in regular use at small gigs or as an extension to my old 4x10, but alas, he's no longer needed. Good condition considering its use had the cover until it finally fell apart recently. Based in Derby, collection only. Looking for £125.
6.
I don't even know why I have the phobia, I've had it all my life! It's just being inside one that sets me off... sweating, nausea, and anxiety, followed by vomiting and sometimes fainting if I don't leave right away. Come to think of it, the same thing happened when I did a school nativity play! Maybe it means I'm the antichrist??
sounds more cleansing than a phobia!
7. drums are perfect for you if you're tone deaf
8. i used to have LEDs in my warwick, they ate batteries, (3x9v) and most of the time i just put black tape on the back of the neck. Good indoors, rubbish out doors/ bright lights. Don't bother ...IMO
9. for that you need some GOSPEL! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pATcvr3zAhg
10.
Is anyone else sick of Standard Christian worship music? Seems like Newday are the only ones at least trying something slightly different.
We had 90's Worship sounding like U2, 00's worship sounding like Coldplay... what next? Unfortunatley, most church music has to be easy to sing and easy to follow for congregations, its all a bit 'safe'.
11. Thinking about it, I've grown up playing bass at church. Starting playing the bass because there wasn't one in the worship band at the time and there were/are too many chords and stuff to learn on the guitar. Now play at the Community Church derby playing the modern songs on a regular basis. I believe music & spirituallity are closely linked. Music is used in many religions for achieving a mind of worship / enlightenment and can express yourself using a separate language of music rather than words. Having said that, one thing worth pointing out is that if you do 'play' at church it doesn't automatically make you talented. It still takes, practice & time to become talented and tasteful! The last pub/covers band I was in all played at church in the worship band and this did help on Sunday mornings. Although there is an element of performance, just on Sunday's its not about 'me'

13. led Zeppelin recorded "The song remains the same" cinematic film the day I was born, and JPJ was one very big influence when I started playing.

16. Recent new purchase. Had been an SWR man for 15 years with their 4x10s, 2x10, Mo bass but now gone to Genz-Benz and Vanderkly's The clarity, compact-ability, power and sound of this little(r) set up is awesome! 17. I thought some one who hung around musicians was a drummer? ;-)
18. Hi, just saying hello as a new forum-er. Living in derby and been playing bass for 20years+ in Soul bands, Wedding bands, rock bands, folk bands (eek!) and also solo/ looping stuff as well when there;s no one left to play with. Also like making my own basses when time permits. Currently going through a gear over-haul and upgrading / updating basses and amps etc as i feel its about time I had a change and hopefully find some new inspiration. thanks for reading... see you around over and out Steve
19. used to have SWR Mo bass, Goliaths (2 - 4x10's) and thought it was great. Then 've modernised and now have the Genz Benz Streamliner with a pair of Vanderkley 112 & 210. These cabs are great together with the GB. The clarity is there, you hear everything and the portability of them makes a huge difference to gigging. A bass on a back, amp on your shoulder and a cab in your hand, you're out before the singer!
