ive had a search and i haven't found anything that can do what i need without a massive midi board or having to have my pedals out front. here's a drawing of what my rig is gonna be, the only difference will be my wah pedal which will be after my bass first in the chain. basically im looking for something to do the job of the blue box? i want to be able to switch between to different loops of pedals to send to my dirty rig. so i basically need an a/b switch that has an input for the clean bass sig, an output to the effected rig, but on the switches it has loop inputs? anybody know of anything that could do this or how to construct something that can? i want to put all my pedals in a draw rack unit with my lm2 will just make my life a lot easier! andy
The DB751 has quieter fans compared to the DB750 and the sound is slightly smoother, but still delivers a punch and I don't regret for one minute giving up my Epifani 502.
yeh the fan is loud on my 750 but i can live with it, glad the 751 sounds similar to the 750 tho as that sounds awesome! andy
Can't help with choices as I'm thick on that sort of thing, but I've always fancied a Modulus myself. It would have to be a 5 though.
Mate if you can try them out go for it awesome basses and there not stupid money! Now woz, I'm thinking more the j style now for something a bit dif, but there getting back to me next week sometime with what options they have avalible that aren't on there site? I'm just looking for advice from someone who's played with the j type modulus's got to be someone on here? I know ian on here from smart but so well see what they come back with Andy -
how much are little marks and little giants going for nowadays. may eventually give into the mark band wave budgets and all that, reckon i'll be able to spend 250 max on an amp. cab could be sorted very soon!
i managed to get my lm2 for 350 secondhand andy

was looking at getting a warwick 5er but after looking at the price and seeing its just to much money! ive decided to go down a route that i know! i love my fb4 so im gonna be getting a 5 string version. but im thinking of going down a slightly different route, probs get the 0BP-3 instead of the 0BP-1 pre amp. but mainly i want to know what people would recommend for pickup/s I like the idea of having the j type pups in it, but ive just seen on there gallery shots that it looks like you can have a mm and j setup which would be cool! as i love the sd basslines pickup i have in my fb4. color wise im thinking of the pic below! so what would you guys go for preamp and pickups wise? andy
He said Bob Rock and James, not Jason.
jeez sorry! thats my bad! reading to quickly. anyway after working out the prices i just cant see this being a viable choose for me! i think im gonna go down a route that i know and trust which is modulus. just looking at the prices i can custom the hell out of it, and probs still be under 2 grand! thanks for all you posts guys sorry its a waste of time thread! andy

does it have to be ampeg? i a/b'd the svt cl against the aguilar db750 and if you look in my sig you'll see what won! honestly give it a go if you can! i love the ampeg cabs! but i had a prob with an svt pro 6 i had so i changed amp but love there cabs! andy
I know, hence me saying "although the lines on the album are amazingly played too". Albeit it by Bob Rock and James. On a Spector owned by the bassist from Loverboy, no less!
Woah! Jason left well before the st anger recording started, its just bob rock on the album Andy
Yes really. Not a patch on Newstead IMO. There might be a few clips of the Dublin gig a few years back when they did the Master 20th aniversary thingy on the goo tube.
i really dnt get the love for newstead hes a good bassist. and the only video ive seen of him doing orion hes playing the slow riff completely wrong! andy

the back up to my svt pro 6 and now to my db750 is a little mark 2! works really well for me on the small gigs we do where i can't get the db750 and 610hlf to, and ive used it in the past thru my 610 and it was bloody loud! i'd def try one out! andy
I've seen metallica a couple of times and rob's playing was pretty solid, though i'm a big metallica fan, and i really do hate death magnetic, i don't see how anyone can think it's close to their earlier stuff at all. I don't see how that bass is any different to a streamer CT other than the inlay though.
not but its at least going back in the right direction. and yeh as dwh87 said its got a dif body and that. which may work out that its a better thing to get rather than making a streamer to the same specs. only prob is its got a really big signature on the head stock and the inlay! dnt mind the inlay so much but i dnt really want the sig on it wish they'd of put it on the back of the headstock! andy
I think he played on the tour though. If you look at a chronological list of metallica's albums its the same as reading a list of their best to worst albums.
i think thats harsh! ok so there middle albums dnt sound like kill em all! thats just them growing up! for me death magnetic is an awesome album! badly produced and doesnt sound all that great but it is a very solid album! id much rather they changed than did what slayer have done! just release the same thing over and over again! on the rob sig warwick, if its less than the equal custom warwick i might think about it? as to get similar specs your talking like 6 grand! which is silly money! andy
His work on the first couple of Infectious Grooves albums is solid as anything else. His technique might seem sloppy but he has made it work for him. He's been doing it a hell of a long time without any problems. Great player.
really sloppy? in what way? listen to the bass only tracks from death magnetic nout sloppy there! andy
-
Yep, thats why he f***s up orion every time I've seen him try to play it. Seen him six times in total with different bands and each time its the same. Sloppy. Sure he has aggressive attack and speed but that doesn't make him a good bassist IMHO.I judge him on is what I have seen and it aint good. Simple as.
am really! i think its tiny little slip ups? nothing thats really bad! ive seen him twice and he was on the money! andy

ok so we've just added another song demo to our player! "waiting for my life to begin" would be cool if you guys could give some views on it andy

well i just looked up the price of a similar model if i got it made as a custom! and i had to stop at 4000! oh well! the chrome finish is on there site is 1000! on a nt! so im thinking its gonna alot of monies! this makes me sad! andy
Hmmm around £2000 is not so bad, i was expecting it to be closer to £3k. I will keep an eye out for prices over the next few weeks.
indeed im thinking it will go up tho! although from what ive read its styled on the bass he uses so it maybe less due to that, rather than like the bootsy collins sig which he designed? andy
-
Of course it will be overpriced If it was a reasonable price it would probably get one, it has me interested in getting a chrome tone. ive seen somewhere that it was gonna be around 2000 which isnt so bad? the same spec streamer i think is more?
just saw this! amazing! but looks like warwick are gonna do there normal thing and price it so high i can't afford it! :-( might have to be a waiting game? then possibly a saving game! as it looks so awesome! andy
Seb, the Ampeg will help your Rick sound like a Rick! It allows my Status to sound like a Status, and, as you might expect, the Cort sounds like itself!
really cool, ive always known ampegs to colour a bit? i like this tho! but tbh that could be what ive used with the cabs? also the not known for there highs came from my orange more than anything, it had some but not the same as say ah 212 or 410. andy
Yeah I should have made it clearer. I'm looking for something smaller (as my my 4x10 is too big for the sort gigs I'm going at the moment) and with a different sound as my 4x10 is too ballsy, although that could be the fact it is Ashdown. I know they aren't known for their highs, more for lots of bass but how do they usually come across? I'd like to keep my Little Mark incase I have a gig where I need to jack up the volume and can borrow something from someone else! As long as I kept an eye on the master output, would it be alright? I was thinking how would the sound of the two go together?
got it man! ive played mine thru a 115 orange cab and it sounded cool, he markbass did actually bring some highs out of it. not played it thru an ampeg 15 so cant really help in that way but im guessing its gonna colour the sound a bit more so maybe lose a bit of the highs that i got with the orange? have you tried the ampeg 210av cabs im planning on using 2 of those and my lm2 for ah covers band that im joining? really light and small rig, but really punchy! andy
