1. 15's arent normally known for there high dude? just an idea why not get the ampeg combo? as for how the lm2 would work with the 15, i think your gonna be over powering the cab, the 15 is rated at 200w and the lm2 puts out 300w at 8 ohms? as you can see from my gear i have a lm2 also but i use it as a practice amp with an ampeg 210av, but thats fine and its rated the same as the 15 but i would like to put the master past 12o clock with it?. andy
 2. im looking at getting a cross over so that i can use a guitar combo, and not have to worry about damaging it, thing is im thinking of still using one even if my dirty amp is a bass amp, to maybe try and stop the sound from being a bit much. im considering getting a second 210av cab and using my lm2 for the time being, im thinking if i only send it highs and mids, with distortion the 400/500w should be plenty to cut thru. what do people think of this would it do the job? 4.
I've tried it in the past with an old Selmer valve combo, and the transformer actually burnt out before the speakers did - basses need a lot of power at the bottom end (most of the power is in the fundamental, not spread across the audio spectrum), so basses drive the amps and speakers harder than a guitar would to get the volume. If you're talking guitar combos, the cabinet design is also often wrong - open-backed or sealed, rather than tuned and ported like a proper bass cab, so yuou lose bottom end power/projection too. The high tec solution to using a guitar amp with bass is to use it as part of a bi-amped rig with a crossover, so you're only using it for the high frequencies, and then using a good bass amp+cab for the low end rumble.
yep thats what im doing, im not looking to play thru it on its own. gonna use it as a dity rig with my 610hlf and aguilar db750 providing my low end. andy
 5.
The sound of angry bluebottles is coming your way if you try it. Not long after, the amp will pack up . So, I say don't do it.
i get its a frequency thing but your telling me rob just uses it till it breaks! im sure they'd stop it if every week of the tour they had to buy a new dual rectifier! do they put something the way? i wouldnt be pushing the lows at all really. andy
 6. im still getting my dual rig together but im thinking bout grabbing a combo amp to give some edge to my tone. ill put the my effects thru it, and then i can put more bass into my aggie 610hlf rig. but ive been told not to try this as i'll just be wasting money? and replacing speakers all the time but rob from metallica has mesa dual rec's in his bass rig? and also so does the girl from clatter! andy
 7.
Exactly! Which is why you need to try them out yourself with your own bass, cables, amp etc!
Indeed this would be the answer its just a big pain! But may have to go for it Andy
 8.
Id check the Aguilars....they are fantastic. I mean no disrespect to Ampeg but they are a step up...you will really notice the difference!
how much of a difference is there? can't find any sound clips of a db750 being played thru an aggie cab apart from people randomly playing live, or a jazz guy noodling which would be wrong for me to judge the cab for my needs from. andy
 9.
The Neo range are slighty mid shy compared to thier proline cousins, bu I actually prefer that. The do a very good sold clean bottom end, but also handle a well tweeked EQ if you want to recreate your Ampeg clunk. I've used ALOT of cabs... And was an ampeg and Markbass player for quite some time. But EBS have taken the lead by a lon way for me these days... And they are spook light for the power they handle!
really ill have a look into them them i think, the only problem i can see is that they'll be to much dinero! andy
 10. hey i know the manual says that the poweramp out can be used to run another 750, but could i run another preamp of it? for my dirty rig? andy
 11.
Ebs Neo 212. Awesome cab, uber light weight. Handles 600w. Tweeter if you need one... An there's one for sale on this forum if I'm not mistaken. I own one and it's bloody fantastic!
do the cabs so hi fi? if thats the right word? andy
 12. hey guys! i have a aguliar db750 going thru a 610hlf. i love this rig! and dnt want to change the cab. but ive been offered a place in another band, and im think of getting a different cab setup for this gig. maybe a couple of 15's? so i can get a much different sound to my 610? or maybe a couple of 212's? and if im being honest for some of the bigger gigs my first band are going for it might be cool to have them all going thru my 750! or using them for my dirty rig when i finally get round to it!. im a ampeg cab lover! but the 15's only seem to take 200w! and weight a bit! theres the aguilar 115 and 212 which are about the same weight as the peg, but take 400w and 600w. although ive not played aguilar cabs? how do they sound? i know mesa do a nice 15 but thats a bit to much money! what would you guys go for? Andy
 13.
Yeah! I'm liking the tunes dude! Its like nothing I've heard before! Really interesting! Cheers for posting it up!
thanks man andy
 14.
Hi Andy, yeah they're both cool songs. I like them a lot. Let us know when the finished mixes are done? Rob
indeed hopefully they wnt be to long! andy
 15. bump! give the new tracks a spin, nothing new and the righteous man thanks andy
 16. yep! found my wah! got a beat up crybaby 105q played it at practice today! awesome! and i honestly never remembered from my old 105q the volume level giving such a boost! so cool! and its probs gonna be getting a paint job to not sure what yet but im just not a huge fan of the white!? andy
 17. hi my band did some recording a few months back, well we've decided to put up a couple of the demos. give them a listen, would be interested to know what you guys think? www.myspace.com/syruss and please remember there demos, they werent done in a studio. a few of the levels are of, but we just wanted to get them out there for people to hear. were gonna change them out when the remixed versions are done in a few weeks. andy
 18. woh! thats a hell of a rig for the money! good luck with the sale man!
 19.
Ha - I see 0175westwood29 disagrees on 750 tone - he should know as he's had an Orange (I've only used them, 'never owned one). I suppose I should have indicated tnat it's important to try an Agi for yourself
you have to really tweak the setting but i got really close! may have something to do with my 610 maybe? but at high volume it can get gritty for sure. andy
 20.
Anyone got one? How much do they differ from the 750? And can they do the Orange/Matamp drive business?T
personally i'd get a 750, the 751's dnt differ that much ive heard, they've just switched all the effects loop and foot pedal stuff to the front? and my 750 can def get a similar sound to my old orange ad140b, but has alot more clean headroom! like a ridiculous amount! andy
 21. tried a 105q again today! just managed to get one of a fellow bass chatter! so wah troubles gone! andy
 22.
I really wanted to try the boss wah on bass. I heard it do some amazing things on guitar. I use a Wah Probe, but I use it in a blender.
to be correct the boss wah just didnt work for me with the bass but to others it could be nice got alot of possibility's and dif settings you can go through, probs worth a try? andy
 23. tried the boss v wah today and its no good for bass, also tried a few crybabys out for a laugh! the dimebag wah was quite nice on the bass, but it seemed to have a really slow wah and i played i want not a savage wah but something with range on it. but i'd def try out the dime wah on my rig if i could afford to waste the money. no ibanez or 105q in the shop for me to try and also no morley wah's apart from the guitar ones andy
 24. bit more info for you guys! this my signal chain as it is atm. bass-----boss tu2-----ehx metal muff-----chorus-----boss flanger-----Rig i want what ever wah i get to do its thing on the distorted and flanged signals so im thinking im gonna have to put it at the end before my amp? but im sure ive tried this before and the wah seemed to stop all the other stuff coming thru? andy
 25.
I reckon the Wilson is your best bet if you don't mind spending the extra cash... I'm thinking of ordering the vintage spec 12-position myself. Also, I've heard the that Morley Power Wah is much better than the Dual Bass Wah. Also the new G-Labs Wowee bass wah sounds great from the clips I've seen on youtube.
the only thing that puts me of is that the vintage pedal im moving on is a morley power wah fuzz, and ive also played a morley dual bass wah, i a/b'd that against a dunlop and preferred the dunlop. andy
