1. I saw the guitar version in Denmark St a few weeks ago and it is very skinny and had a toy-like appearance, not sure how it will hold against proper gigging I will also stick with my Zoom B3 for multi effects on the go (small, fits in the suitcase and has Amp simulators and DI).
2. Bought a set of Wizard 84 Jazz pickups from Jose. A pleasure to deal with and great guy to chat to also. Deal with confidence!
3.
Looks okay, bound to be useful but price point will decide if it is a hit.
Agree 100%
4.
Can I clarify that this has nowt to do with me
5. Hi all, Just spotted on Premier Guitar's update of NAMM'16 and they posted a photo of the still unreleased TECH 21 Bass Fly 5 which looks really promising. I hope some demos come out soon to see the range of sounds but a compressor, SansAmp, Octave/filer (can see a fuzz label) and a chorus cover a lot of grounds. http://www.premierguitar.com/articles/23717-namm---editors-picks-day--?page=2 P.S. Also check the Boss VB-2W reissue!!! Enjoy!
6.
Is it me or is the neck really chunky?
I really like it but the neck is the only thing that puts me off by looking only at the photos, I have small hands and play Jazz necks mainly. What are the specs for the neck?
7.
From Darkglass Since bassists adopted them, class D amplifiers were seen as convenient version of much bigger and heavier, yet better sounding, amps. Most musicians were happy with compromising sound and power by saving money, weight and space. So a year ago we set ourselves up to end these compromises. We wanted the best sounding amplifier period: louder, more versatile and articulate. It just happens to be one of the lightest, most compact and elegantly designed bass amplifiers out there. Fully designed and built in Finland. We present you the Microtubes 700."
Marketing blurb... you need transformers the size of a baby elephant for "that sound" they are describing (valve and transistor amps)
8. Hi mate, what are the upgrades apart from the pickguard and tugbar? Lovely bass in one of my fav colours.
9. I use the Little Mark Rocker 500 and the only controls I use are the valve drive (for some grit) and the VLE & VPF filters. The EQ is set flat and depending on the room a little of bass is rolled of or boosted. The filters are the selling point of the amp and they are great, I'd be happy with just Gain-Drive-VLE-VPF-Master controls on my amp.
10. It certainly looks Apple inspired, as many things are unfortunately. I agree with one of the above posts stating that there is not much going on visually. I would have liked an original and quirky design from Doug and the guys at Darkglass. This is too simple and meh for me. Don't get me wrong, I love Darkglass and was an endorser way at the beggining a few years ago. Looking forward for the price tag and sound demos.
11. Sad to hear that Tina. This Zon looks amazing, I wish you good luck with the sale.
12. Keep the DB750... not much more to say.
13. I gigged for many years with a Fender Bassman 100 (Transistor) 1×15" combo and I never needed anything else. I used to run it almost all the way up when in larger indoor stages, but usually if placed in a good location, I would be pretty ok in terms of volume & tone without pushing the power section too hard. Have in mind that I was up against a Twin Reverb and an AC30 and a loud drummer. Nowadays I downsized (weight wise) a little to a Markbass Little Rocker 500 into an Aguilar DB112 (8 Ohm) and my master is around 9-10 o'clock... so most probably if meassured, I'm sure that I'm putting out around 100-150 watts. I've done the SVT and DB750 outdoors and they are stupidly loud... dropped the master so much that I guess a 100 watt all valve head would have done the job beautifully. I would love to have an EBS T90 or a V4B... Perfect wattage for me.
14. Oh My Dog! I love this 4 string version! GLWTS mate!
15.
Are these photos of the actual bass you have for sale? I ask as they appear to be the same photos used to sell a big block on eBay a fortnight ago (which went for £299) and it got me wondering?
+1. BTW, what neck does the Big Block have? I think it's a P right? GLWTS mate.
16. My MIM Fender Reggie Hamilton J has a US P pup and a noisless J. Most probably it's a '62 or similar found on some of the MIM Specials from a few years ago. Still, a great price for a Fender pup.
17. Look at the flame on that neck...
18. Amazing cabs at an amazing price! Would you consider shipping them? Cheers
19. Welcome Mark! Nice to see you enjoyed the Costa Blanca (I was born in Alicante and lived in Benidorm for over 25 years). Cheers, Byron.
20. I really like the v2 models, I see them as a mix between a Fender and a Musicman body which I really like as it departs from the more than overdone P & J bodies from other manufactures.
Martin Dixon up here in Yorkshire (he's in Otley, near Leeds) is very highly recommended. I've not tried any of his work but he's really helpful, passionate and friendly. I think you can go and stay with him (B&B style) and make a bass together, which sound fascinating! http://m.wharfedaleo...al_work_of_art/ (I don't have his website, sorry!)
The B&B thing certainly does sound tempting... being able to be around while your instrument is being created is a cool experience.
I just had a beautiful bass made by Chris McIntyre, here in Edinburgh. Very very pleased with it.
That looks amazing! Liking the pup configuration too.
23. I believe that TI's will have slightly less tension that the FX's but very close compared to regular La Bella's which tend to be harder to bend (at least for me).
24. Did anyone else manage to try one out? I just can't get over the body... not for me at all.
