Sorry for bringing back an old thread, but I guess it is better than creating a new one. I am currently looking at getting my bass chops up to date as I feel that there are so many young "cats" out there that are killing it. SBL is one of the options I am looking at as with my work schedule paired up with gigs and rehearsals I am not sure if I could commit to a tutor on a regular basis. Just wanted to see if any others have tried it out and what are your thoughts? If you have any other recommendations I am open to suggestions. Cheers, Byron
That's the correct bridge Martyn.
I must be going blind!!! Apologies as it is the correct bridge. On my pc, for some reason, it was showing the saddles in a different tone. Very clear on my phone now. I will modify my post to avoid any issues with the sale. -

Interesting new Ibanez, even for a 'traditional' player...
I think the main goal behind the Ibanez Bass Workshop is to get people talk about Ibanez. They churn out interesting bass designs, none of which are completely new or never done before, run some small batches and have people talk about them. So in a way it is a clever marketing solution because there is not a lot to talk about for ex the zillionth version of the new Soundgear 5 string with xy top and z neck. For the record I love my Prestige Ibanez SR basses, but they are doing more or less the same for 20+ years and it is getting harder to get excited about the new model year's finishes, colors etc. With the Bass Workshop they get the excitement back to the brand for a certain degree and its also great for increasing brand image. I think the Soundgear platform is great, really like the singlecut version and the fanned fret ones as well. I like this one in the OP as well but would be good that they'd do a 'normal' 7 string version, too. Soundgear design seems to fit better for extended range than the BTB of which they already done a 7 string version.
I find that Ibanez, for a well known and established brand, have been brave enough to try different designs with their Workshop series. You do not see this happening with other big mannufacturers. Fender have been doing the same designs for 60+ years and when they "try" and bring out a pimped up version of one of their basses, the general public complains by stating that they do not innovate and stick to their old designs too much. I agree that Ibanez tend to re-do over and over the same thing with their normal series yearly... new top/finish with such neck and that bridge design with these pick ups... but that is what all other mannufacturers do every year. -
Should do, the body is a MIM with the added string thru option. Not sure if the screw holes align though...
If I was you I'd run the bass you want effected into the the effects in question, then into Loop A Return on the LS2, and the clean bass into Loop B Return, then set the LS2 to A<->B mode so it just switches between either the dirty bass and the clean bass, and you have a volume control for each. Or do you want to be able to bypass the dirty bass effects and have both basses clean?
+1

My Road Worn JB has been modded with stacked knobs and with a series/parallel switch and it is not a P-Bass sound at all, which I think is a good thing. You get more volume and a big humbucker sound which is cool to have on a JB IMO.

Depends on the strings too. My Mustang Bass with La Bella flats (30") has way more tension than my P-Bass with TI flats (34") just due to the design of the string.

That looks really nice... and those pups looks super sleek with the gold paintjob. Any UK price for the Lakland?

I have a P-Bass from Mark and he winds his own pups AFAIK, and yes... they do sound really good. Not sure about the parts though.
I have a Thundertomate Optocompressor (Handbuilt in Spain), I´m not 100% sure but I think is based on Demeter Compulator. It´s very smooth as any optocompressor
Rober from Thundertomate made amazing pedals. I have one of his "bass drivers" and it is amazing. A shame he doesn't build anymore...

EBS Multicomp for me. Simple and nice tone enhancer, great "Tube" setting with a hint of midrange boost and cool Multiband for slapping.
-
I have just got a Fender Mustang and I am looking for a quality gig bag too. Moving in London with a guitar on your back is an adventure (Tube, bus, trains...)
-
The OP is looking for Octave up guys Although both the EBS and OC2 are amazing (I own them both) they cannot do Oct Up.
-
Didn't the lower range Ibanez SR's used to have an active 1 tone control? EMG do a concentric bass & treble tone control that would fit in a P-Bass too. The East p-Preamp is full of features and seems you need an engineering degree to understand how it operates but they're so hard to find 2nd hand and they are not making them atm. An EQ pedal might be easier to fit into your existing setup also, there are so many options out there too. Good luck mate!

I used to borrow a "Warwick-ish" looking Fame bass years ago in one of my bands. Sound and finish were really good. Never seen one since then.

Looks great! I have another Limelight and they are really nice basses indeed. Congratulations!

Sounds good, I like the dual XLR's at the back for FOH and a separate power Amp.

Really liking the R400 and the WB100! Keep more pics and comments coming guys
For me, the best pitch up/down stuff is on the Line6 M series pedals. I pretty much have an M5 just for the +1 octave lol.
+1 on the M5, it tracks amazingly well.
