2. Some of, and this is a genuine group, Crazy Penis
3. Would appreciate any help. As a beginner, even though its not a hard tune, any help would be greatly appreciated.
4. By Sly and the family Stone. Is a beginner friendly song to learn ?
5. Totally agree Timmo .
6. Cheers Bagsie. The Bass Collection has just had a set up and new strings and am waiting to get it back. Pm your number again and ill text ya.
7. As will become apparent I'm a beginner. Was wondering what's the difference between some of the different types of bass, in particular Fender p bass, precision, jazz etc
8. The £40 an hour guy just used a back room in his house. Nothing special, he went through 4 popular bass riffs that he'd hand written on tab, talked a bit and that was it. £40 my arse !
9. I've tried the guy, and if I'm honest, it wasn't worth £40 or even close . I have a superb guitar teacher who charges £20 for an hour and he's way better than the £40 guy
10. I maybe wildly out here, but I was under the impression that most tutors charge between £20 and £30 with the norm being 20 to 25 an hour. However what would justify a teacher charging £40 an hour for a beginner type lesson ? No amount of who they've played with or done sessions with make no difference to me especially as it was just in the guys back room. I like it to mountaineering, you can be the worlds best mountaineer and have climb everything there is to climb, but it don't mean it makes you a good teacher. Thoughts ?
11. Whats this 1,2,3+4 technique ?
12. Welcome Michael. I could have some questions for ya re general web design. It's something I want to get into as a hobby but don't know where to start re courses etc. any advice greatly received
13. I do planon getting lessons, if I can find a good teacher near to me. I'm Bolton based.
14. Bloody iPhone typing !
15. They are my aims, if I have try other genres to get there then that's no probs, asking as I like the music the no probs. it ain't about the destination, it's about the journey .
16. I love most kinds of music but the reason I'm attracted to bass is that I love 70's funk, Jamiraqui, and my Norman Watt Roy and Ian Dury and the Blockheads. I've probably picked the hardest types to get into aint I !
17. Wow, first gig and can't play a note ! Sounds like something I'd do ! Surely a band wouldn't be interested if I was a total beginner ! I can just about lay a few scales after all and nothing much else.
18. Anyone wanna meet up ? I'm am a virtual total beginner though
19. I need to find someone to play with then, anyone ?
20. Fancy meeting up and attempting to jam,. Well that maybe a rather tall order for me, but it would be great to play sh*te with other like minded folk if ya now what I mean.
21.
There's nothing stopping you from joining a band right now. It's just a matter of finding other people at a similar level to yourself.
Very very funny indeed, thats deffo me at the moment ! Maybe i should put an add out, crap bass player wanting to play in a band
22. In Bolton its self ideally. Cheers
23. Now i know this is a very subjective question, but a goal I have is to be good enough to play in a band. Ive only been learning the guitar about 5 months and the bass about 1 month but i think its good to have goals, no matter how long they take to achieve. I practise most days for around an hour but do miss a day every now again. With the right commitment, im reckoning 2 to 3 years to get good enough ? I fully realise that even after 2 to 3 yrs i would still have loads to learn but hopefully be good enough to play in a band. What ya reckon, am i wildly out ? On another note, has there ever been a bassist or guitarist who came to the instrument late in life but became a pro and makes money from it now. Im not talking about someone that has been musical before but someone that never played an instrument before and then suddenly picks it up and then becomes sh*t hot ?
24. Apologies, my stupid fingers pressed submit by mistake. What I meant to say was, I know there are a mass of lessons on YouTube for beginners but can anyone recommend someone that does structured lessons, the kind that start with lesson 1 day 1 kind of thing ? I'm the kind of learner that prefers the structured approach. A lot of the beginner videos assume some prior knowledge but is there anything out there that assumes no prior knowledge ?
25. I can appreciate that there is a mass
