1. I'd like a set of the flats please - is paypal ok? edit: In fact I'll take both sets if you'll accept £20 for the two.
2. What is the weight please and how does it compare to the RW in feel, weight and tone?
3.
It is thickly padded but the straps aren't totally removable (although you can release them at one end).
Thanks, I don't need shoulder straps cos I don't go hiking with me bass and they get snagged on things - I could cut them off I suppose.
4. Does the tribal planet one have removable shoulder straps and is it thickly padded? Can't tell from the ebay pic.
5.
Difficult to muck up the sound with flats. I have recorded only one song with no eq on the bass at all, plugged straight in and nothing on the recording. A P with flats (Trubass), sounded great straight from the jack.
Same here - plug direct into the desk, no EQ and there's the sound of my bass with flats. How hard can that be?
6.
I suspect a lot of live sound guys are lazy and stick to the same EQ each time rather than listening. I've played in a few venues where all the highs and most of the mids are rolled off the bass in the FOH. If the sound man has his EQ set up to do this to a typical roundwound bass sound, it's going to be even worse with flats!
Sounds perfect - that's exactly what I always ask for. For me, bass is bass - the keys and guitars can have the mids and treble.
7.
D'Addario, I believe.
Thanks, I thought I'd heard that, but wasn't sure.
8. Who makes Fender strings?
9. Saw this and thought of this thread: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMhxiz_u6_M
10. Never had a sound engineer ask what kind of strings I use.
11. what kind of bass are you using? sorry if you've already said.
12. The prices are mental and it's hard to see the extra features on the FJB20 being worth nearly £500 more than the FJB6. It went up from £229 to £706 overnight at Dawsons, while the FJB6 went from£149 to £229. But I agree about the quality and if they had a different name on the headstock, (like Sanberg or Lakland etc.) they would be thought of as a bargain. Daz - I'll give you £200 for yours, next time your car needs fixing
13. Thanks for the info Daz. The FJB-20 sounds a bit steep at £700 considering the earlier prices and I'd love to compare it to the FJB-6, which is a great bass in it's own right. I nearly bought one last year, but I heard they are even heavier at over 11 lbs. I believe they are made in the same factory that produces the CV range for Squier and I can see similarities with my CV Jazz, both are excellent quality instruments.
14. Great news - it's often the simplest things, (bet you feel a bit daft now) Nice to know the seller wasn't at fault too. Look forward to your review if you get time, with pics of course - sound clips and a video would be even better.... Steve.
15.
I'm primarily a guitarist...
Nuff said Seriously, get one of these: http://basschat.co.u...93#entry1579493
16. Did you have to pay import duty and VAT on arrival of this bass?
17.
Send it to me and I'll sort it for you, just cover the postage
I love this place!
18. That is very disappointing for you, but hopefully it won't be too hard to fix by someone who knows their stuff. It may be too late to open an 'item not as described' case with ebay and the cost of shipping means it will be cheaper to get fixed here. I also nearly bought one of these from the states, but decided to wait and try one when they become available over here. Hope you get it sorted soon, so you can post a review on here
19. The only mods I did were to put flatwounds on and raise the action a bit - I might also take the plastic off the pick ups and scratch plate........... eventually
20. Marvelous news - made up for you, every silver cloud has a black lining (or something along those lines). Enjoy!
21. I think I got the last one at £150 and they have about 4 left at £230, they reckon the new stock will be closer to £300 when they arrive. They are still great value even at twice the price.
22.
the last fender bass I bought was cheap (actually quite expensive) crap too.
fixed to reflect my experience.
23.
Tandy not heard that name for some time!
I kitted out my studio with cables, mics and headphones from Tandy about 30 years ago. Still got most of it and it's still working fine. I was recording the band recently and we didn't have enough headphones so I got one of the old Tandy specials out - huge closed style (and with a curly lead). The 17 year old guitarist didn't believe they were real, he thought they were a toy
24. I bought a cheap curly lead from Tandy in the early 80s and used it exclusively at every gig and practise until last year when it failed at a gig. So I just treated myself to a new one from rotosound for £4.20 plus £1.00 postage: http://www.rotosound.com/instrument_cables.php Hope it lasts as long - I'll be 85 next time I need another
