Sorry for the formatting of this ad - I struggled for ages to get the pics to show at all.......... This is a beautiful looking and very well engineered bass, ideal for anyone looking for a lightweight modern take on the jazz bass. It's in great condition with no issues apart from 2 very tiny paint chips on the headstock that you can just about make out in the last picture. The neck is straight and fast with a jazz profile and the sound is bright and punchy with plenty of bottom end. I am offering this for £200 including postage in a newish Ritter basic padded gig bag. Apologies for the picture quality - it's really hard to photograph bright white, without glare ! Here's some details I found online - This regular scale model weighs just 3.2 kg and offers superior balance in addition to its ultra light weight. Fusing seamlessly with the player it offers unprecedented playing comfort that stuns bassists who regularly play a standard bass. Light weight, superior comfort, and easy playing action let you concentrate on your playing for extended periods of time. Physically it is light in weight, sonically it is anything but. A.I.R. technology and newly developed pickups deliver a thick, robust tone that is clear, powerful, and blends well with a wide range of musical styles. Alternative Internal Resonance (A.I.R.) is a Yamaha exclusive construction technique. Offering the unique combination of an ultra lightweight wood core sandwiched between a hardwood top and a hardwood back, this combination allows the woods in the RBX4 A2 to vibrate freely and create reverberation and sustain that are much greater than the average bass guitar. The outstanding resonance is enhanced by special sound tubes, which connect the hardwoods with the softwood core across the instrument. "The A.I.R. construction method is ideal for bass players," said Armando Vega, product manager, Yamaha Guitars, Pro Audio & Combo Division. "Some of the musicians we've shown this to have been amazed by the sound of this bass. In addition, players love the streamlined, contemporary look." The RBX4 A2 is also equipped with two Yamaha single coil pickups, which are sonically matched to the instrument's revolutionary body and designed by the Yamaha Guitar Custom Shop in Hollywood, California. Available in white/aircraft gray, as well as solid black, the RBX4 A2 features a bolt-on maple neck, 24-fret rosewood fingerboard and two single coil pickups . The LED-illuminated pickup indicator lights, which increase their brightness in conjunction with the volume, add a high-tech look. Specifications Neck Maple Fingerboard Rosewood Bridge A.I.R. I was offered this for less than the selling price recently - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Ibanez-Musician-Bass...=item3a59a9e432 I was also offered this from the same local seller - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1978-Fender-Precisio...=item3a59a7c42b I borrowed both overnight and decided to stick with my Tanglewood fretless - both were nice instruments, but not for me.

I mean true love, not lust or infatuation - love in the spiritual sense, where it feels like God is playing through you and you never want to be apart. Just wondered.

20yr Status Veteran goes all Retro Fender Shocker!
redstriper replied to OutToPlayJazz's topic in Gear Gallery
The precision is simply beautiful and I have heard the AV series are the best value Fenders, although I've never had chance o try one and they rarely come up on the used market. I prefer jazz basses and the AV 62 jazz looks lovely, but £1500 is way out of my comfort zone. How are you liking the road worn jazz and how does it compare to the Squier CV and American Standard models for playability, sound, feel and weight ? I played a Squire CV and a VMJ fretless in the gallerey recently and thought both fantastic, regardless of cost. -
I have a cool and very lightweight white Yamaha RBX4 A2 AIR bass for sale - let me know if you're interested. Review here -

The best price at the bass gallery is £299 and they wouldn't budge on that, RRP is £349.

I use an Alesis Multimix 16 channel firewire desk and it's been excellent, with no problems in over 3 years regular use. There's an 8 channel one here. There is also a 12 channel one and there are lots of reviews online. I think they may be discontinued now, but I can recommend them - I have recorded 18 similtaneous tracks onto my Toshiba laptop with basic mics via cubase and you can hear some of the results here.
Apparently 3 years or so. At least it'll save me buying loads of roundwounds! I just want evrything today, but I guess there's some things that you just can't rush.
Flats may not be your thing by the sound of it - if you like the tone of new rounds, then you should forget flats cos they'll never do that. The older they get, the duller they sound, which suits me fine but may be you're idea of toneless mud !
I thought that my LaBellas sounded sweet when playing solo (& unamplified), but then got a bit lost in the mix at last weeks rehearsal. Or so I thought. It was a louder than usual rehearsal. Flats don't cut through like rounds, the tone is generally deeper and less middly - I recommend increasing the volume. I thought they (the flats) were maybe a bit too bassy, but the lead guitarist reckoned they were too trebley! Experiment with eq at high volume. Do flats take a bit of time to 'bed in' then? And how long will this take before I reach the 'promised land' roughly? Depends how much you play, it usually takes at least 6 months for me to get rid of the brightness and about 3 years to reach perfection. As an aside, once the Labellas were on my SX P bass, I found I could lower the action quite a bit on the bass, certainly lower than with the rounds that were on it previously. Is this a common by-product of stringing up with flats, ie lower action? Is it because they cause less fret buzz? Higher gauge = lower action and flats are not as rattley as rounds anyway.
Best place to order Fender Jazz scratch plate?
I think an old gibson ebo or eb3 would be ideal for reggae, they have the deepest sound i've ever heard on the neck pickup, They are very light too.
I've been there already, with an Epiphone EB-0 which I bought new and sold on almost immediately. It did have a very deep tone, but not quite right for fussy old me - too rich and growly and not clear enough, I find the same thing with precisions. I love the front pup sound of my old jazz bass, just wish it wasn't so heavy.
The one in the avatar is the Streamline. It's a serious little bass, that one. My favourite 4-stringer. Serious punch and sounds like nothing else
I'm sure I've asked you this before, so apologies for repeating myself, but........... Would a streamline be suitable for reggae ? I need a very deep, smooth fundamental tone with no mid or treble and I get that tone from an old Fender jazz bass using only the neck pup with heavy flatwound strings. The problem is weight with my bad back and I've tried a few alternatives, but always been disappointed with the tone. Do you know of any stockists where I could try a streamline before committing to buy ? Sorry for hijacking this thread. Thanks, Steve.
