1. I remember my 4x10 combo and the 1x15. The 4x10 as soon as I got it, I put casters on it. If you have a sack truck, just screw the cab to it. Totally portable then. 😂
2. Be a jam band. You can't get more original than that? What happens when you copy a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy? Isn't that music for the last umpteen hundred years??
3. Great Amps. I love em. The weight definitely adds tonal character. I considered swapping back to a TE rig. I don't miss the weight tho.
4. I just got boss os2 that might be interesting
5. So it's a pedal with a drum machine cooked into it..? The trio would be a better choice
6. Nice but I wouldn't pay that for them. Even if they are special edition. All my pedals are boss Roland but 250 a piece ? Nah. Just nah.
7. I actually entertained one of these Said my pick up address was at my old work Didn't hear anything Moved on
8.
Quite the opposite. My graphic is set with a sad face.
Sad bass.
9. Raise the mids for some mid range honk It will sound much louder
10. Just play the tune in whatever key it's supposed to be in. Tell the singer that you've changed the key. If it sounds wrong then tell them it's their fault.
11. Not just me then ! I think as I play more I will have to keep dialling the bass back as I never change my strings and they are just dull AF. bright new strings are clanky and zingy but I prefer dull strings as it's less work to maintain heh. Too much bass leads to mud. That was exactly what I was having. Mud. Couldn't hear any definition. Was a farty mess. Dial the bass back and have a mid range hump. Honkin the night away. Trade secrets !
12. Last night I was at the rehearsal studio and found that turning the bass on the EQ down a touch actually made the tone louder and clearer more punchy. Mid range honk. Boosted the mid and highs and the tone was a lot clearer The bass being turned up was causing the signal to be all farts and just BURRRRRRR droney sounding Mind you I did have a wall of sound OD and synth going on it so the signal was all fuzzy anyway Anyone else found similar ? New tone day !! Cut some of the low end to improve tone qual Maybe it's all subjective.
13.
Odds-on you kettle will draw more current when it boils than your studio ever will.
Agreed. Most modern gear doesn't actually suck that much power up at any given moment.
14. Lower the action and play lighter I have my action as low as I can so I don't suffer as much fatigue in the hands. Usually I play for 3 hours or more solidly so my hands do seize up after while. The low action helps offset some of this Might be worth looking at compressing the sound so you don't worry about hitting the strings too hard or too light.
15. Aw cute little 60w. I go into the PA. I'm lazy when it comes to amps. The loudness war is only really for me, keeping up with the drummer. The TC 250w I got is wayyy too loud it's a 1x15 so it really hurts your chest if you hang on the same notes too much heh. Anyway back to the subject: I've been in rooms and they have always been line 6 or peavy crappy carslbro combos and they've seen better days. I remember one of the earlier experiences in an early teenage loud band having to chain a few 50w combos together to get any sort of gutsy bass into the mix. Especially when you have to compete with 2 screaming guitars or mashing of chords. This was ground breaking stuff for a teenager hah Now it's all class D and subs etc. Very efficient. Although muchly abused in a live setting.
16. I would go with sticking a limiter or compressor at the end of the chain to keep everything consistent level.
17. Only just use read this again and only realised it is painted metallic. Ummmm tricky now. How about sticking another decal over it ? Or yeah carefully blade it off. Then relacquer it.
18. Personally I would just belt sand it off lol Obv I would re-lacquer it and stuff. Don't take my word for it!
19. Shouldn't need to teach someone when to come in. It should be natural.
20. Found these neat little tuners https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.pinterest.com/amp/pin/574209021223310194/ Will it work on bass though? They are like thumb screws but I quite like the neatness of it. Especially on a precision ! 😁
21. Nah never seen it done. It would just confuse me lol
22. I don't hide the fact I use a cheap bass. In fact, the cheaper it is, the better I feel on it 😁
23.
I still don't have a functional handle on how to use my overdrive. There's always a signal drop off when I engage it. Maybe I should use my MRX M85 Bass Distortion pedal as an OD? Blue
Dial the level up on the OD I've always thought you should match the levels on your pedals so when you engage or disengage each pedal, the sound level is still the same.. I hate it when you go from a OD to a clean.. soon as you stamp on the OD, the clean signal is just lost in the mix ..
24.
I place mine at the beginning, just after my pedal tuner, to smooth out the signal before it hits my other pedals . I've tried it at the end of the chain but it takes a lot of the attack out of my over drive and fuzz that way.
Same, squashed signal to feed the OD.
