Hi guys and gals, I currently have two amps in my possession but only wish to keep one. Trouble is I'm really struggling to decide which one as I like them both. I play genres like RHCP and RATM, fairly aggressive with lots of punch and a touch of overdrive. I feel the EBS does a slightly better job of this and also sounds louder, but I could be imagining it (they both use similar ICEpower systems). The EBS also has more EQ options, such as a HPF and contour switch. But they both sound great! Which would you keep?

What's wrong with dimmer switches?

Quilter Bass Block 802 - 800W bass amp in perfect working order, great condition. Really superb little amp with huge volume for its size and weight. Made in USA and designed by Pat Quilter, founder of QSC Audio Products. Only thing worth noting is that the feet have been glued on for extra security. Invisible when sat the right way up of course. Quite rare, don't see these come up too often. Postage available.

Well... received an email this morning... Dear customer, we received back your return and it will be processed as soon as possible. RMA52087R1: 1x Harley Benton Block-800B We are happy to help you with any further queries. Best regards I literally have no idea what happened but looks like I'll finally be getting the refund 😄

Not sure, these were the last emails before I opened a PP claim.. Good morning, Thank you for your email. We have checked this case with our logistic center, and this was not returned. Unfortunately, if you have sent this inside the parcel: JJD1490555502****** this was not even sent with the correct label and associated customs documents for this return. The product was supposed to be sent with another parcel: JJD149055550******* At this point, we are sure this did not reach us. Kindly, check again if this is still in your possession, and so we are able to provide you with a new return label. Rudolf, I have already said that the product was returned with tracking number: JJD14905555020*******. I even uploaded the receipt. JJD1490555502******* was for a different return - 56340R1 (which was completed). You already stated that the power chord has reached you, therefore the amp must have also reached you. I used the label and associated customs documents that you sent to me, which I have attached to this email. At this stage I feel that I have done everything I can do. You are accusing me of shipping back an empty box... Why would I do this? I would not expect to be refunded by shipping you an empty box. Please check with the courier, they must have weighed the package at some point customs. It would have more than the weight of a power chord... There has obviously been a mix up somewhere. And then a little while after, I received this... I haven't responded. Good morning, Thank you for the clarification. We can see that your parcel containing the Harley Benton Block-800B was dropped off on the ** May 2023 and reached our logistics partner in the UK on the ** May 2023. It is now undergoing customs clearance. Please note that return parcels can take up to 20 business days to reach us. However, please be assured that we are keeping a close eye on this return for you. Should the parcel not reach us in a timely manner, we will of course be able to provide you with alternate solutions. As soon as we have received your parcel here at Thomann, you will receive a confirmation email and the refund will be processed immediately. We thank you for your patience and understanding in the matter. Should you have any further questions in the meantime, please feel free to contact us in answer to this email.

Thanks, I've submitted a claim 👍

Good point, I did use Paypal and didn't think of this. I'll give Thomann another chance to respond first. Hopefully it's just a mistake on their end.

Hi all, Just wondering if anyone else has experienced what I am going through. I purchased a Harley Benton Block 800B from Thomann (£289 - had to try it). And whilst it was great, I ultimately decided to return it becuase it had a very high noise floor. I have returned a couple of other things to Thomann in the past without issue, however, this time there is a big issue... The returned amp was packaged up exactly as it was shipped out to me, i.e. the Harley Benton amp was in its own box, which then went inside a much larger Thomann box. Inside this larger box was also a UK IEC mains lead, which I returned along with the amp. A week or so after dropping the parcel off using Thomann's prepaid shipping label, I noticed on my Thomann account that the IEC mains lead had been 'received', but the amp return was still showing as 'requested'. I just assumed it was a technical glitch and waited a few more days to be refunded. Well, nearly a month has gone by so I contacted Thomann asking why they have acknowledged receipt of the mains lead but not the amp, seeing as they were both in the same box. The replies I got have been pretty astonishing: Hi Hedvika, Just checking, did you receive back my return yet? I am a bit confused because the website says you have received the powercord, but not the amplifier (the powercord and amplifier were in the same box). Would it be possible to check? Thank you for your email. I have checked this and the amplifier does not appear as received yet. Did you post both items in the same parcel? With this information, we will be able to check this further. Hi Hedvika, Yes they were both posted in the same parcel, exactly as they were shipped. The tracking number is JJD1490555502033******** Good morning, Thank you for your patience. After thoroughly examining your case with our logistic center, we came to the conclusion that: The Harley Benton Block-800B was not in the parcel, therefore this can not be refunded. We remain available in case of any further questions. Hi Rudolf, Sorry, that is completely unacceptable. I posted the amplifier and cable back EXACTLY as they were delivered to me. The Harley Benton was in it's own packaging, which was then inside a much larger Thomann box. The cable was in this larger box (exactly as it came to me). I do not know what happened in your warehouse, or whether they did not register the return of the amplifier. But they were both shipped back exactly as they were sent (two boxes, one inside another with the cable in the outer box. I have attached the proof of postage. Please check with the logistics center again, things cannot just go missing. The fact that they have accepted receipt of the cable but not the amplifier is ridiculous, when they were in the same packaging. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do? I wonder if they can contact the shipping courier as it would have been weighed at customs (probably around 3kg - much heavier than just a power chord). Although when I look at the tracking, it says it is 1kg and 1cm, so I don't think it has been recorded correctly... This is a big shame as I will no longer be able to purchase anything from Thomann ever again. Luckily it was a £300 amp and not a £1000 amp...

Bought a Quilter amp, top seller 👍

Hi all, I think I need to take my Ibanez ATK 805 to a tech to get a proper setup. There is really bad fret buzz and I'm constantly turning the truss rod wheel anticlockwise to try and loosen the neck, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. I've turned it quite a lot over a period of a few weeks, and is now very hard to turn... I'm worried that if I keep forcing it I might break something! it buzzes mainly on the lower frets, particularly the B string. I don't see any extreme bow, and the action is already pretty high. Setting it higher would just be uncomfortable. This is for an 805 - I also have an 810 with much lower action and zero fret buzz. I'm very reluctant to try and force the truss rod further. I'm wondering if the frets need levelling or something... Can anyone recommend any good techs in the London/Brighton/Coventry areas?

Aside from the hiss (which could be a fault) I'd say it's on par with any other amp I've owned (Genzler 800/TC RH750/GK Legacy/Berg Forte/Genz 900)... I just think these manufacturers charge a lot for something that could be sold cheaper, which HB are doing.
-
Interesting, I remember reading a few posts a while back about it having an unacceptably loud noise floor but just thought I'd chance it.

Maybe you're right... I might return it

Hi all, So... I was looking for a cheap backup amp and saw the Harley Benton Block-800B had good reviews and was only £300, so bought one off Thomann which arrived yesterday. Interestingly the one they sent me is MKII. Long story short, I think this amp is just too good to be sold at this price with 3 year warranty. I think I might actually use it as my main amp! I also currently own a GK Legacy 800, a TC RH750 and an Eich T900 (as well as many others in the past). A few things I noted... The good: Physically it is a very quiet unit, the fan doesn't always run and when it does it's whisper quiet. Can barely hear it. Ugly knobs are easily changeable. Heavy enough not to vibrate off a cab (3kg). I really like the EQ frequencies of the HB compared to the Eich and GK. Haven't noticed the amp getting warm at all, despite there only being two small vents on either side. Opened up the chassis and can see it has an ICEpower 700AS1 power amp. Very impressive considering the price. If I'm not mistaken, this power amp is more powerful than what is in the Eich, which is the 250ASX2 (700W vs 500W). I believe the 700AS1 is also used in the Genzler 800 and Darkglass Microtubes and possibly the GK Legacy 800 (it makes the same clicking noise on startup). These are all far more expensive amps... Although interestingly the 700AS1 is $65 cheaper than the 250ASX2, so not sure which one is better. The latter has lower output but louder dynamic range? 250ASX2 700AS1 The not so good: It seems to have a very constant high noise floor. By constant I mean it is present with no bass plugged in, plugged into the input or effects return, volume at zero or max, mute engaged/disengaged etc... It is worse than my GK Legacy, which I already thought was quite bad. There is lots of white noise even at zero volume, both through DI and headphones (worse through headphones). Haven't had a chance to try it through my BB2 cab yet. There is very little white noise from the TC or Eich. The TC actually has zero white noise when running through the effects return, even on max volume... But I guess that's because the power amp isn't very loud, presumably as it's only 236W. I suppose it's the magic in the preamp that somehow makes it sound much louder. The mute button doesn't mute the white noise or the effects return. DI out volume is pretty quiet (not necessarily a bad thing I guess). Onboard compressor adds a noticeable volume boost... not sure whether I'd use it. Questions: Does anyone know the difference between the MKI and MKII? Is the amp protected from phantom power? In summary, I think this amp is brilliant value for money. So much so that I am going to return the Eich which cost me over £900, and sell the TC. Might end up buying another HB as a backup to the backup!

Hey folks, seen a few wanted ads so thought I'd post it here... Someone's selling a new superlight sandberg on ebay that ends tomorrow, it's expensive but would avoid the 12 month wait if someone is willing to pay for it... Looks like its also 3.1kg so guaranteed to be one of the lighter fivers https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/155426755099?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=PKwORsqGS2W&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=PKwORsqGS2W&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
