Also, if you are not in a great hurry, a few people may change up from their std Epi's to the Epi Pro leading to a glut of std Epi's on eBay at knock down prices. Last time Pete Way toured with UFO he was using Epi T birds rather than Gibson and it sounded fine, I doubt they were modded.
pete's Epiphone wasnt modded...but for the last 18months hes used MY gold Tokai...ive recently got it back and its for sale if anyones interested...?
Well, I have to say this one sneaked out from a dark corner and whacked me over the head with its clubby neck. I would never have imagined I would find exactly what I was looking for right now in a bass thats almost pink, it's relic'd and its a Custom Shop. Those are 3 things I really didn't rate... It speaks to me, inspires me, and I've fallen for it in a big way. Never believed in all that relic lark but this just feels "played" - a very strange experience to know within a couple of notes (unplugged) that its the one you wanted. Pino Palladino's original basses that these are based on must be a hell of a thing. Also rolls in at a nice light 8lbs 4oz. Did I mention the colour? I think it's growing on me
im aching for one of these myself!!
I have 2 pedals for sale: EBS Multicomp- a fantastic pedal in great condition (the box is a bit tatty)- £85 plus £4 P&P Radial BigShot i/o input selector. This allows two basses to share a common input, so no more swapping leads during a gig. It also allows you to set independent volumes for each bass too (ideal for passive and active basses to share). Excellent condition, but no box or manual (I can supply a pDF manual though)- £60 plus £4 P&P Here's the link to the Radial website with more spec: http://www.radialeng.com/pr-radial-bigshot-io.htm I will also be selling my Boss TU2 pedal soon. Thanks for looking
gutted...im after the EBS comp..just dont have the spare cash at the mo....balls!
Hi, i have a jazz, style, bass that has a realllly low output on the D and G strings but the E and A are relatively loud. (I posted something earlier about the voluming cutting but i realised that was just the amp) I've tried altering the EQ on the bass n that doesn't change the output...can't see why it would but perhaps. I was wondering if anyone had any idea as to how i could boost these two strings volume. If i was to play a G on each string (sticking with the same pitch G) then it sounds louder on the D and E strings, so it's not like the bass is responding differently to different frequencies. (I might've just mis matched a lot of words there but i hope you'll get what i mean) Would changing the Pick ups, or wiring or the tone controls (it's passive right now) help? I know compression might work aswell, or something like that, but i just get the feeling that there's something 'up' about my bass. Thanks.
someone once told me to get my pickups re-waxed if this happens... im no buff with this sort of thing,so he may have been taking the piss... put some EMGs in there!
The AH1200 head is designed around two 600 watt output stages (the AH600 has one, obviously). Each stage is designed to work most efficiently with a load of 4 ohms, but the Trace cabs you're after are 8 ohms each. So with the two cabs, the AH1200 head will give you virtually no advantage over the AH600 head. I'd stick with the AH600 to be honest.
cheers for the advice dude...ill go for the AH600 then

please make sure you put your bass in a good sturdy case... i fly quite often, locks are not a problem...all i do is put gaffa tape over the locks, incase they get bumped and open...if "they" want to open your case they will.. i hardly ever find that theyve been messed with...as usually they will open the case infront of you at the over sized baggage drop off,if they need to... the case is important tho.....ive had 3 basses broken before on flights...i flew them in their original cases... i was once told also "if it shakes it brakes" so make sure your bass is tighly secured inside! hope it works out whatever you chose to do
-
cheers lads.. im looking towards the in-ear set up...just to see the faces of the guitarists more than anything! haha...but ill be honest i dont really understand the set up of it..would i go,guitar-pod-desk..then take a signal to my in ear reciever from the desk and have the full band mix in there...?........... but what would you think about the AH1200-12head with 1028h (2x10) and 1048h (4x10) cabs? only i dont like 1x15s..... or is the head you suggested the better option? it is a bass pod BTW
Just tell them in traditional fashion to 'f-off'
haha,i did try that...didnt go down to well at all.. im thinkin,i may just take a line6 pod and use my in-ear set up..that way i wont need an amp!
-
Try ACS for ear protecion.. they use filters to drop the volume to -26db...they dont take out any frequencies,so the sound doesnt change...just the volume.. i use these and absolutely wouldnt play without them... i have 20% hearing damage in my left ear,i dont want it to get any worse.... but any sort of protectors should be worn..
After the band reformed I found all my 1/4" jack leads were knackered. I thought it must be the bass and rewired the whole thing but it turned out to be the leads I was using!! So I went and bought a 12 foot Fender gold Bass lead. Yes I thought it was expensive and it came in a huge cardboard 'presentation case' - No wonder it's so damned expensive they must get through some rainforests packaging this mutha....anyway after unpacking it and leaving all the packaging in the shop for them to deal with a couple of things struck me: 1) - this doesn't look or feel like a guitar lead - it's more like the mains flex on my Hotpoint Iron!! It's got a woven fabric sleeve and is really 'chunky'. - VERY COOL IMO 2) - It has a novel velcro strip to hold it all together when looped - good idea this. It has a nice L shaped jack on one end and a really chunky and shiny jack on the other....... Anyway went to the next rehearsal and the rest of the band start asking me if I've changed the pick up or strings or what!!! I never believed changing a lead could make a bass sound so different! It gives a very nice rounded tone and seems to get the lo-mids through better and made my bass sound with more punch. I play mostly with my fingers but sometimes with a plectrum and the lead seems to have added a clarity to both methods of playing which I never thought possible from merely changing the lead!!! Conculsion: it may seem expensive but it will sound better than your average guitar lead!!!
they are great leads...altho,the first two i got were faulty and had to be replaced! haha

ive been told i cant take my ampeg and 8x10 cab on our european tour in may and june...due to the guitarists downsizing..they said i have to also..???.. :-( so,peavey/trace elliot said i can take anything from them..i dont know much about either... ideally i want a 6x10 as the concerts are around 700-1000 capacity venues...and i dont use monitors,i use ACS ear-plugs with filters (as i dont want to go def)so i stand, often lean, against my rig... niether do a 6x10..so im gona ask for 4x10 and a 2x10...but im not sure what spec head to take? or could i use the ampeg through those speakers? any suggestions??
-
thats a very cool rig... :-( wish i had one! haha

yeah,i always think its best to lay the bass track down flat, then mix it in the final mix..if youve got some punchy bass that doesnt sit too well in the final mix, there is only so much you can do with eq if youve used an amp..where as these pod things you can do whatever.. i love using them live too..saves lugging an ampeg about too!
