jimijimmi replied to Happy Jack's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
its got "NO BRAKES"... LOL! does that mean once you start playing you can't stop. Seriously though, if this is all original then its worth bundles. Non-reverse Thunderbirds just don't turn up for sale at all.
This is all original...its only had 3 owners including me.its been looked after immensly..clean as a whistle..its worth far more but i need a quick sale...its a beauty and is killing me to have it up for sale. but needs must... -
They are very rare. Still look 'orrible though... Think he's a bit mixed up on it's provenance though. Guigsy played Fenders, i thought Gem Archer (rhythm guitar) played a non-reverse firebird. EDIT for awesome quote : "A bass of this calliber will not be available again for this give away price" I used to own an RD Artist '77, IMO Gibson's best bass. It was my second best bass, behind my Warwick Corvette. Not exactly known for their world-beating basses are they?
sorry, this WAS guigsy's bass...i bought it direct from him...as hes a personnel friend of mine. and YES it is a give away price...if you can find me one for less, then ill take 2.. hope ya well.. jj -

I could only find someone over on talkbass selling a "new old stock" one for $225 earlier in the year. I can't find any reference to them being available new at all. Am I being stoopid?
i tried looking them up..as far as im aware they we reintroduced at namm this year...?.... well this is a brand spanking new one, still got the cellophane on the back plate... if youre interested let me know -
Me toooooooooooooooo. I've now found a reason to keep it for a while. Im not withdrawing the add, just not bothered if it sells or not for a while. Im going to need a 4 string P for my Wellah project. I cant really use the 5 string so i might as well use the DD. Still open to offers though. The Fretless has been sorted as im getting my Jazz de-fretted next week. Im not looking for anything other than money, a Rick (well, its worth a try ;-) or a Black/maple USA 08 P.
no worries..i did PM you too jj

hey all.. im looking at selling my 1968 non reverse Gibson Thunderbird ,1 pick up model...(the shape John Entwistle made famous),as youll know the non reverse were only made between 66 and 69..so it truly is a piece of Bass History. it belonged to Guigsy from Oasis..it comes with the original pick-up covers, case (with OASIS stencil),it has no brakes and is 100% clean. its one hell of a player too, absolutely magnificent sound.. its an investment for sure..there arent many of these about at all..specially in this condition.. so i will post pics up later once im home,if anyone shows interest..and ofcourse email me with any questions..price etc..

LakLand Duck Dunn. + Lakland G/bag. Excellent/Mint
jimijimmi replied to eubassix's topic in Basses For Sale
Lakland Duck Dunn in excellent/mint condition and comes in a really nice Lakland gig bag. Currently looks very classy as fitted with a mint green pickguard (but with the rather more stark original White pickguard included) and some very purple strings, which might not be to everyone's liking; but they do play/feel really good. Probably the best & easiest playing 'P' bass I've ever used (the neck is much more J than P and the bass has a nice low, easy action. Also lighter weight). For those who don't know the model, here's some bumph re. the instrument and the player:- Duck Dunn Signature Skyline Model bass. This one retains the familiar body style but adds a thinner neck with block inlays and fingerboard binding. An instant classic! High-grade features include a hand wound split “P” pickup, ash body with flat-sawn maple neck, rosewood fingerboard with 20 frets and fast-playing 34″ scale, Lakland Dual Design bridge, and Hipshot licensed tuners. Nut Width: 1.5″ Nut Type: Delrin Fret Size: .041/.085″ Width at Final Fret: 2.5″ 1st Fret Neck Depth: .77″ 12th Fret Neck Depth: .94″ Fingerboard Radius: 10″ Fingerboard Blocks and Binding. Scale Length: 34″ Frets: 20 Bridge String Spacing: .78″ Neck Wood: Flat-Sawn Maple Body wood(s): Ash Fingerboard: Rosewood Tuners: Hipshot Licensed Truss Rod Access: Neck Heel: 5/32″ Hex Pickguard: White Controls: Volume/Tone Bridge: Lakland Dual Design Pickups: Split-Coil Humbucker Duck Dunn’s grooving bass is part of a ’60s sound so distinctive that it is referred to as the “Stax Sound” to this day. He’s backed Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, and Albert King; he’s worked with everyone from Roy Buchanan to Bob Dylan, and Rod Stewart to Muddy Waters and Neil Young. With Booker T. and the M.G.s, Duck recorded bass parts so undeniably funky that they have influenced generations …. (etc.) This came to me in a trade deal (previous BC owners): it's a very nice bass but I need to sell something(s) and this isn't going to be used, really. £590 obo. which includes delivery by 24-hour Courier. I do have more photos, if you PM your email address (as I don't want to add too many here)
dont suppose you wana trade for a fender precision usa?? -
Small world JJ, I didn't make the Quireboys connection. I've known Guerin since school and oddly enough he's invariably in some pub or other that I'm playing at when he's back visiting his hometown... bit of a stepdown from me coming to see the band he's in!
i mentioned you to Paul..but as i dont know your name it was diff to describe you! haha -
