1.
How lovely is that
I wish everyone would stop telling me how lovely it is.... I'm getting seller's remorse and I haven't even sold it yet
2.
Hi ....nice bit of kit...i'm after a 135..could be interested in the cab aswell...what are it' dimensions...cheers...you can call me on 07828280930.
Cab is 26" wide x 26" tall x 16" deep...
3.
Very nice rig! Seems like a very fair price too... GLWTS
Thanks. It sounds great, too. Have to say, I won't be too heartbroken if it doesn't sell. It's more a case of it should be used a whole lot more than it is at the moment...
4. This is wasted in my office, being played at low volumes. It needs to be cranked up and used on a regular basis! It's my Fender Bassman 135 amp and cab. Serial number F147244, which dates it to around 1981. Has the warm, valve sound in abundance, and stays clean all the way up the volume range. Sounds wonderful with a P bass & flats! In superb condition. Had a full service and full set of new valves 18 months ago. Built like a tank, too! Comes with a set of vinyl Fender covers. (Ric not included ) Super rare, particularly in this condition. Collection from j.12 M40 (between Leamington and Banbury), or can potentially meet up in the Solihull area (or within an hour from home). I'd strongly prefer not to past this, not least because of the size. Pop down, try it out, drink coffee, chat bass. I'm not really looking for trades, but potentially would listen to a part-ex against a smaller, cheaper combo or amp & head. Any questions, please ask.
5. Rudy's has reopened in Soho - they were in the process of moving last Autumn when I was in NY. They generally have some nice stuff in - they had a real Marcus Miller Jazz in there (as in, one owned and played by him, not a signature model), and a really nice early 60's P bass which I fell in love with, but didn't have the cash at the time. I wouldn't bother with Guitar Center near to Madison Square Gardens unless you're in that area. I walked miles to get there, and it was pretty disappointing. Big store, lots of stock, but nothing really interesting. Incidentally, fantastic photo of Times Square!
6. Just been browsing Amazon's "Today Only" sales, and they have a new US Thunderbird for £849. Seems like a decent deal, and I'd have been tempted if I had any spare cash. Link below: - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00NAVUW5E?ref_=gbps_img_s-3_0467_1e8a21a1_GB-SUPPL&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE Expires at about 20:30 tonight, so if you're interested, be quick!
7. I'd still make it sound like a crappy £25 Fender copy...
8. Another stress-free enjoyable deal with Chris. I bought his Fender tele-bass, which is currently being renovated. Top man - great comms, great price, great to do business with. Simple as that, really. Look forward to our next deal, Chris
9. Probably 20, including 2 I bought back and then sold on again. I'm settled now. Definitely not selling any of the 5 I have left! Out of the 20, there are probably only a couple I regret selling though.
10. I'll join in.... If I was in the market, I'd be talking to Jon Shuker again. If you're one of the few people left in England who I haven't bored with the details of my Shuker P bass, take a look in my sig
11. Thanks for all the comments. Feeling very lucky indeed with this. Had another long play this morning, and it's already feeling like an old friend. Now, the important question: leave the roundwounds on there, or put my usual TI flags on for that Macca sound?
12.
Repetition seems to be a common theme on here!

Repetition seems to be a common theme on here!
I like what you did there!
13. Great sounding bass & nice tasteful playing too. Glad to hear you're keeping the original colour too. Black & maple never looks wrong!
14. Slightly unbelievable day today. I get a phone call from a friend (who's in a pretty well known band) who asks me if he can pop round for a cuppa, as he has a present for me. He turns up and says "I know you've always liked this, and I was actually going to sell it, but I thought you might want it instead. Here you go." So, I'm now the very proud owner of this beautiful jetglo Ric 4003 from 1999. It's immaculate, and had the nice Ric case and all the case candy. I'd been tempted by a 4003 on a recent trip to the US, but didn't like the neck on the new models. This one has the Ric neck that I remember loving from a previous 4001 - quite slim, and very fast. Cranked up through the Bassman and it's pure Foxton / Joy Division (and yes, I know both Foxton and Hooky played different basses throughout their careers, but you get the idea!). I must have spent about 5 hours solid playing it, and it's just great. Today has been a good day! Excuse the terrible iPhone pic below, but I took a quick snap earlier.
15. Just completed the purchase of Neil's Ashdown combo for a friend's son, and it couldn't have gone any smoother. Very quick answers to my questions, and the combo was packaged up, couriered and delivered very quickly. Would highly recommend Neil - he's a good guy!
16. That's my old bass, and it's a beauty. Surprisingly versatile bass - definitely not the one trick pony that a lot of semi basses are. Decent price with the fitted case, too...
17. Hmm, I am horribly tempted by this, Chris. Just needs the magic Uncle Horrid treatment to make it look new again, and my Telebass is currently on tour with Mr Panter again. Give me a couple of hours to consider...!
18. I've seen this bass in the flesh, and it looks and sounds fantastic. Great seller, too. I'd buy it myself if it wasn't for the fact I need to distinguish between 'want' and 'need'
19.
Bassmatters in Njimegen? Dunno what the trip there from Amsterdam will be like - just hoying it in the mix.
I was just about to say the same thing. I used to get the train from Schiphol to Nijmegen with work - I think it's about an hour an a half, and Bassmatters is walking distance from the train station. Trust me. I've done it. Many times
20. When I was first learning and travelling away with work, I bought a 2nd hand Hohner cricket bat bass to take with me. Full scale neck but without a bulky body to carry around. They're not silly money, either.
21.
I think you may have just provided me with my next transcription project! Not that I'll actually be able to play it once I've transcribed it...
When I had lessons from Steve Amadeo, he transcribed it for me (in about 20 minutes from never hearing it before, I seem to remember - he has scary abilities!), so if you get stuck in any of the parts, let me know.
22. Is this my old one? If so, it was one of the best P basses I've ever played, and I had seller's regret almost instantly. If it is my old one, I'd definitely be interested...
23. I traded my Ibanez semi-acoustic for John's Roadster II, and he was a pleasure to deal with from start to finish. The Roadster is immaculate, was packaged perfectly, so I'd highly recommend John as someone to do business with. Thanks mate!
