I had a Jack Casady with TI flats on it, and it was as smooth and fat as you could ever want. Quite a heavy bass, though, surprisingly so for a semi-acoustic...
Wow, Im really thankfull for such a great reply @loz196. You have just described this bass in great detail and yes it is really heavy. Thats why the owner wants to change it. I think I will buy it off him so. I have him down to 800euro now. Thanks again Bass friends
800 Euros? That's terrible. You should definitely not buy it, and pass on the sellers details to me straight away, so that I can, erm, teach him the error of his ways.....

Nice one mate! You've been after one for a while, eh? Oh, and you're absolutely right, pics or it didn't happen
"The 2 cabs are the non-tweeter versions." - but I can seed tweeter level control and what looks like a tweeter behind the grill?
You're absolutely right! These are the (more expensive) tweeter versions. I've had way too many cabs in the last few years and have obviously lost track Thanks for the heads-up. It's also reminded me that I have padded covers for each cab, so the rig is an even bigger bargain now!

Now sold, pending payment Selling my OTB 500 and twin Aguilar GS112's to fund something a bit more retro! The OTB is in excellent condition - I revalved it with Philips ECC81/12AT7WC, so it's a lot more controllable than with the stock valves, but these are also included. The 2 cabs are the GS112 with tweeter models. One is immaculate, one has a patch of carpet (3" by 5") rubbed off one of the sides, but it doesn't affect performance. The OTB heads seem to fetch £350 on here, and the cabs £250 each, but for a quick sale, I'll take £700 for the rig. Individual prices: OTB £350, cab 1 (immaculate) £250, cab 2 (with mark) £220, or the entire rig for £700. I also have padded covers for both cabs - I'll throw these in with the sale. I'm based just off j.12 of the M40, and would prefer a meet up. Of course, you're welcome to arrange a courier to collect - I'll make sure it's all packed up for transit. I can post pics later - let me know if you have any questions. Tredders

If ever there was a wrong crowd to ask, it's us It's really only you who can answer the question. I've bought and sold more basses than I care to mention, but the 3 that have stayed with me through thick and thin are my 2 P basses, and my Shuker, simply because they do everything I need. Incidentally, if you do decide to sell the Variax, I'll have it off you - I've been wanting to try one of these for years, and keep missing out on them.

Too many to mention: Lakland Duck Dunn - I love precisions, and jazz necks, so it should have been the perfect bass. For some reason, I just couldn't get on with it. Weirdly, Jon Shuker then made me a P bass with a Jazz neck, and it's the greatest bass I've ever played, so take from that what you will.... I lusted after a Stingray for a while... bought one, liked the sound, didn't like the neck on it. Same with a '51 Re-issue P bass. And don't even get me started on the numerous Jazz basses I've owned (American 62 RI, Jap 62 RI, CIJ Jazz etc). All sound great in other people's hands, but weedy and lightweight sounding in mine. I should really just stick to P basses and be happy!

Jamie bought my JV P bass, and it was a nice smooth transaction from start to finish. Really nice guy - I'd happily deal with Jamie again. Cheers!
LOVELY! what is the nut width out of interest, 44mm?
Ta! Shamelessly stolen from this very forum: "Vintage correct 1 and 5/8 of an inch which comes out at 41.27mm at the nut. In comparison the current US vintage reissue has a a nut width of 44.1mm and the american standard 41.3mm." Edit: Tons of info on JV Fenders here: http://www.21frets.com
