1. 14 minutes? Pah. I once bought a P bass in 6 mins from here
2. These are really nice basses, but pics would really help your chances of selling it mate.
3. I'll take this for the asking price please Drop me a PM and we can work out payment etc. Cheers Mark
4. Just re-reading your original post. Regarding weight, the Hofner felt like it wasnt there - it was so light. However as HJ said above, they're not the best balanced basses. The JC was surprisingly heavy. I'd expected something really light (being semi acoustic), but was quite surprised by how solid it was.
5. I owned both. The Beatle bass was a lovely bass to look at, but wasn't the greatest to play. Plus, as you already know, it was shorter scale, and ended up looking like a toy guitar when I played it. The JC was a totally different animal - great sounding, great to play, and a fantastic slim neck on it. Out of the two, I'd take the JC over the Hofner every day of the week, but YMMV.
6. PMs replied to. Still for trade or sale
7. I bought a 75 Jazz from John at Far East Guitars. I can highly recommend his service - if I was on the look out for one, I'd check with him first.
8. Sunday bump. Just think how much better Christmas would be with a shiny Big Al for company.
9. Thanks Ryan - its a beaut alright. And Tuss, if you change your mind about the Jazz, let me know. Replied to a couple of PM's. This is still available.
10. No thanks, but I'd be very interested in your '78 Jazz
11.
What a wonderful bass, I want it! Hmm, let's see....judging by your collection of instruments you'd surely love to trade it for my Ibanez Ashula, wouldn't you?
haha, I actually had to google what the Ibanez Ashula is. If they did a 4 string, passive, Precision shaped version with just 7 frets, I'd be interested
12. Thanks for the comments chaps. I've added a few photos to the listing now.
13. Now for sale, too - see below. I got this a few months ago, but it's got too many buttons on it for my tiny brain to handle (just like a Fender Jaguar I got rid of last year!). It's a 2011 Musicman Big Al 4 string, in vintage sunburst, with a maple neck. I have to say that it sounds amazing, and the range of tones (everything from P bass through to Stingray) are all there. Typically though, I just set it to sound like a P bass, which is pretty daft, when I already have plenty of those to choose from! Joking aside, the controls are pretty simple to use - it's just not my thing. It's absolutely immaculate - not a dink or scratch anywhere on it, and it comes with the very nice MusicMan fitted Big Al hard case. It's still got the case candy, cleaning cloth etc in it - it's just like new. From checking on the web, these retail at just short of £1700. I also had it setup last month by the excellent Peter Allen (an £81 pro setup - details here http://www.guitartec...nal_Set-up.html), and had a set of Chromes put on it, and it plays beautifully. Interestingly, Peter's comments were "at last, you've bought me a well made bass to setup, instead of the usual Fender junk you bring..."!!! All the info you need (specs etc) are here: http://www.music-man...ses/big-al.html And a good video review by Ed Friedland here: I'll take some decent pics in the morning, and add them to this thread, but meanwhile, here's the only pic of it I have, in my messy office: - The robot prints were bought last weekend - they're paintings by Horace Panter, and a very nice chap he is too. But that's another story. The Big Al is lurking 2nd from the left. Some pics taken today now added: - From a trades point of view, I'd be interested in something along these lines: - Fender Telecaster bass (the later mudbucker version) Ric 4003 (pref Jetglo) Gibson Thunderbird Pino Precision Nash or Bravewood Precision US Lakland Bob Glaub Lakland Duck Dunn / Decade / Hollowbody US Jazz (75 RI or similar) But try me with what you've got. Should also say that I'll sell for £1000, or do partial trades (i.e. CIJ Jazz + cash my way, that kind of thing). Any questions, just ask. Cheers Mark.
14. You'll need to state a price mate. And pics will really help your sale
