That's absolutely gorgeous, Clarky. Glad you finally found one. Oh, and keep the original on there. I've a feeling this will be one bass you don't sell on in a hurry...
Ah yes, tecamp. I almost traded an aggie SC500 against one a little while back but it didn't happen. Has that got the puma head in it or something quite similar? What's the going rate do you reckon at the moment for one and how would you compare the sound to eden/aguilar/orange etc? Thanks!
Yeah, it's got a Puma 500 head in it. No idea how it sounds compared to those you list, but it has a great "taste" knob which gives a load of different sounds. Basically I leave the amp controls flat and purely use the taste knob to go from fat 60's Motown to Foxton style clank. I'm really happy with mine. Regarding price, I think the last one went for about £750 on here, so they're not particularly cheap...

It's a beautiful bass, too. Check out the wood grain on the back. It's only about £11,500 out of my budget, too.

I love my Tecamp (details here). 2 x 12, sounds great, plenty loud enough for regular pub gigs, and only 21kg. I think someone was selling one on here recently...

Excellent work - thanks for posting. Deffo needs to be stickified.
Welcome watchman ... from a fellow Oxonian who's about as far from Oxford as you can get without being in Warwickshire. It's grim up North. Enjoy the forum.
And a welcome from someone who is just over that Warwickshire border. All the best people live around here

I've got one of these you can borrow. It's pretty heavy and bomb proof and has been through airplane holds before. You're welcome to borrow it. I'm j.12 of the M40, so whilst not on the doorstep, I'm not a million miles away either.
+1 to Peter Allen - top guy and very thorough - i think the price drops a little Tredders after one's first set up?? I've only had the one and can't remember..
Yeah, you're right. I think it's 10% off after the first one...
That is very good value for a very thorough set up.
I've had 5 basses setup by Peter over the last 4 or 5 years, and have been delighted every time. Nice thing is now, I can just drop a bass in and Peter knows exactly how I like it setup! A nice touch is that you get a full "MOT Report" of your bass, with before & after info on it, and details of all the work done. Top job.
Ive never had a proper setup on any of my basses, but I think its about time I got one sorted. My Warwick feels lifeless and I seem to have lost the growl and power behind it, its just not there no matter what I do. How much does a setup normally cost?
I think it depends on what's done. In the bad old days, I've paid for setups where they've basically tweaked the truss rod, and that was about it. However, a pro-setup involves a lot more than that. This is what Peter Allen does. He charges £78, but it's worth every penny. I think you can get regular setups for around the £35 mark.

I factor in the cost of a pro setup from Peter Allen whenever I buy a bass (which is, erm, all too frequently!). I really do think it makes that much difference. In fact I think BassDirect use Peter for their setups.

Just bought a Boss Micro BR, case and external mic from Shep. Couldn't have been any easier from start to finish. Everything arrived when he said it would, and it's all in immaculate condition. The only complaint I have is he left a Jamiroquai track on the SD card! If I'd have known, I'd have asked for a price reduction Thanks again mate - perfect sale. Tredders

I was just about to suggest PMT too - they had quite a large selection of Sandbergs in the Birmingham store when I was last in there a couple of months ago. Edited to say: Have you seen this one for sale?

Steve bought a Lakland pickguard from me, and even had the decency to chase me up in order to pay me, after I'd forgotten to give him my bank details. Top man! Cheers Tredders

Agh, Telecaster bass with the neck stamped with my date of birth... it's a sign, it means someone needs to give me $4695 right now...

I've always exchanged photos, been brutally honest about any dinks, scratches or problems with the bass, and met at a mutually convenient location. Sometimes home, more often a service station halfway between. Met up, had a coffee and a chat, both parties take a look at the respective basses and leve happy. That's always been my experience, as most (with one exception) people I've dealt with on here have been really nice guys.

Just bought a vintage Fender case from Andy (to go with the vintage Precision I bought from him last year). Exactly as described and arrived quickly & was packaged really well. Thanks again mate.

Some Precision advice please - MIM Fender or MIJ Squier?
tredders replied to austin's topic in Bass Guitars
I must have had 12 or more different Precisions over the years (hell, I still have 5 now!), and the one thing I've learnt is you can't generalise that all US P basses are great, or all MIM's are substandard. In my experience, it just doesn't work like that. I've had some dogs in my time (and that includes a 75 US P bass, and a US '62 Re-issue). I've also played some awful MIM and MIJ ones, too. You really do need to try before you buy... If you blindfolded someone and gave them a MIM, a MIJ, a US, and a Squire (and they were all well setup), I bet most people wouldn't be able to identify which was which... -
