Beautiful - how on earth has it stayed in such remarkable condition with the original strings? I guess that prior to your ownership it simply sat in its case under someone's bed ... Just lovely
What he said. I can own a bass for 20 minutes and it looks in worse condition than this one. Looks amazing.
Sunday morning bump. Swapped strings again for an old worn- in set of TI flats and I think it's now at it's most retro-ness and best playability (compares very favourably with my Pino, the main difference being the clubbier neck on the 62) Cash only unles silldx wants to trade his awesome custom bass
Stop using the words "retro" and "TI flats" in your postings. I am weak...
Whats a 1963 original violin bass worth?
Bloody hell, what else is in your collection? You seem to keep bringing out beautiful basses for sale. <-------- (btw, your old '73 P bass is still gorgeous!)
-
Please package up the Pino and send it to me immediately. It's bloody gorgeous.

God, one of these was my first ever proper bass amp 20-odd years ago. Bloody marvellous sounding. So tempted to buy this purely for the nostalgia. What cab have you been running it through? I had a back breaking Laney 4x10 with mine, which is long gone. Wonder what this would sound like through a smaller cab?

Your 5 most influential/inspirational bassists
tredders replied to grayn's topic in General Discussion
1. Bruce Foxton - Still love Bruce's playing, and hearing Jam tunes takes me back to being 15 again, and lusting after a Jetglo Ric! 2. Horance Panter - How anyone can play the bassline to Little Bitch, whilst jigging around on a stage, looking cool as hell is beyond me. 3. John Entwistle - especially the Quadrophenia album 4. Graham Maby - Massively under rated (IMHO) - some fantastic (and tasteful) playing in most of Joe Jacksons stuff 5. Jim Creegan - Barenaked Ladies bass man. Love his tone and feel. -
Whilst I'm not usually a fan of solo bass stuff, I've always thought this one's quite cool: -
I was thinking "Nice, shame about the extra string!"
I was thinking "Nice, shame about the extra 3 strings I won't use"... Did someone mention a Lakland for sale? I'm just about to start (half heartedly) looking for a maple fingerboard Bob Glaub....

Blimey - we are the Warwickshire Massive! I'm in Northend (between Leamington and Banbury). Anyway, all of you should have a word with Steve. I looked around trying to find local lessons with no luck, and heading into Birmingham once a fortnight to a 'proper' rehearsal room where you can crank the bass up is well worth it. Plus, I've learnt more in a year's worth of lessons with Steve than I had in the previous 20 years...
Hi there, Been playing bass for about 4 years, not really made much progress in all honesty, so think its about time i got a bit of general tutoring by a bass-specific tutor (no guitar players please!). I don't drive so would really need to be in either of these towns. Whilst i need to refine my basic bass playing, I also play a 6 string Warwick and so would like to learn how to play it properly Anyone available?
Hi Kev Drop Steve Amadeo a line. Steve teaches in Birmingham once a fortnight, and it takes me about 45 minutes to get to him (from South of you). Can't recommend him highly enough.
Not really unfortunately, unless you fancy a boxed early Marshall guv pedal just quite fancy a hofner ATM, it's lush!
Aye, it is a really nice bass, and sounds amazing. However, I just won't use it, so want it to go to a decent home instead of it gathering dust here. Can't tempt you away from your CIJ PB-70 then?
What sort of trades do you fancy?
I'm open to pretty much anything (oo-er missus)... I was originally trying to sell this to buy a Jack Casady, but I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion that it's the wrong time to be selling a bass! So, I'd be looking for a bass (P or J shaped), possibly something like a Phil Jones Bass Buddy, possibly valvey-type effects. Don't mind adding a few quid my end if the right thing came up. PM me if you've got anything in mind...

Hi all I just received this in a trade a couple of weeks ago. It's a Hofner Club bass, one of the Contemporary models - basically a new version of the old classics. Here's the official blurb: - "Contemporary Series version of the classic Club Bass with cutaway design The Hofner Club bass CT is based around the Höfner originals of the '60s and ´80s. The Hofner Contemporary Series models are no yesterday's collectors' items, but designed for the tough live performance of today's bass player. The contemporary version of the Club bass:The center block improves sustain. Fitted with original Hofner 'Staple-Top' pickups ." It's absolutely immaculate. The previous owner apparently only used it to record with, and I've only taken it to one rehearsal, and there's not a mark on it. It's quite light, but not stupidly light like the Hofner violin bass I once owned), and has a lovely rich, fat tone. It's currently strung with Rotosound tapewound strings, so gives an instant 60's sound. I've just taken some pics. Excuse a couple of rain drops on the pics - typically it just started as I went outside: - As you can see, it's in 'as new' condition, and comes with an antique strap, and locking strap nuts. I've got the original strap nuts too, which will be included. I don't have a case for this, so would very much prefer a face-to-face (see below for location). Couple of clips to give you an idea: - The second clip is played on a vintage Club bass, I think, but my Contemporary sounds just like it. Price wise, this owes me £375, so rather than be haggled, I'll say £350 on this. They retail at £499, so it's a decent price I think. I'd prefer to sell this outright, as I'm trying to raise the funds to buy a Jack Casady, but I'm open to trades. I've nothing specifically in mind (apart from a Jack Casady), so feel free to PM me any trade offers. I'm just off j.12 of the M40 (nr Gaydon), but my office is in Solihull, and I travel a fair bit with work. Any questions, just ask. Cheers Tredders
