Just bought a Tascam USB thingy from Chris, and everything went nice & smoothly. Poor guy even sat in traffic on the M25 for 6 hours to pick it up and get it in the post to me ready for today... Top man.

Looks quite interesting... Fender have launched an online music collaboration system. http://www.fender.com/promos/2010/ejamming/ Official blurb: - "Fender has announced a partnership with eJamming Inc., highlighted by their breakthrough software technology, eJamming® AUDiiO. eJamming AUDiiO provides patented synchronized streaming live audio over the Internet in real time, enabling musicians and singers anywhere in the world to create, play and record together live and online, while experiencing no discernible latency on their instruments. Now, any musician, for example a guitarist and bassist—acoustic or electric; beginner, student or professional—can collaborate, create and record music with other musicians and singers in a real-time online session over eJamming AUDiiO."

Just received 11 notifications for the same topic (http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=80066). Doesn't bother me in the least - delete is my friend, but thought you might want to track the gremlins responsible down!

I had exactly the same issue with my CIJ '75 Reissue Jazz. In the end, I got it screened inside the control cavity and the hum went away.

That's a great post. We need to do more of these. Remind me to rush out to Music Ground next time I need something...

Couldn't find a feedback thread, so thought I'd start one here. Just completed a very smooth sale with Mike. Nice quick payment, and lots of emails in between. Cheers! Mark.

I picked this up last month from Gary Williams (top bloke!) on here, and it's an absolute beauty. It's a 1993-94 model with a Fender Precision Foto Flame neck (Made in Japan) fitted. It's Olympic White and has aged nicely into a cool cream colour. The additional tort plate sets it off beautifully (although the original white scratchplate will be included in the sale). There is a bit of mojo which is understandable on a bass of this age and nothing that affects the playability, just small dings, dents & scratches. I've not taken any new photos, but will include Gary's original pics below (hope this is alright mate - if not, I'll snap some of my own tomorrow). Gary tried to highlight any dinks in the pics - none of them are too bad. The pickups and control cavity have been screened with copper shielding tape, so it's absolutely silent when plugged in - not a hint of buzz. It's fitted with straplocks and strap fittings which are included with the sale. I've just fitted TI flats to it, which makes it sound just like it should - nice and Motown. Having said that, roll on the treble and there's a decent variety of tones in there. Action is nice, and the neck is gorgeous - very slim, and a lot like the neck on my Jazz, so it's incredibly fast. Also comes with a Fender gig bag. I'm only selling this as I got a Bob Glaub last week, and I'm desperately trying to keep to a "4 bass" rule! Having said that, I won't be too upset if I don't sell this one, as it's a great player, and looks & sounds fantastic. I'm looking for £375.00 plus £25.00 shipping within Mainland UK. I'll end up losing a bit on this (after putting the TIs) on it, so no silly offers, thanks. Oh, and if you want to collect from j.12 M40 (between Banbury & Leamington) or in Solihull, the price is £375. Now sold pending payment Cheers Mark.
There is a Light by The Smiths, arguably one of the most beautiful songs ever written but I'm sure Rourkey causes at lease two fluffs at 0.11 and 2.07. For god sake if you love this song, ignore this as it will drive you insane!
One of my all time fave Smiths songs, but I can't for the life of me hear mistakes at those points. That's not to say they're not there - just that I can't hear them...

Just sold my Pandora to Pete. Nice smooth sale, and lots of friendly emails in between. Highly recommended!

what tune/band that got you into bass ?
tredders replied to phil.i.stein's topic in General Discussion
Another Foxton-influenced player here. I knew all the Jam basslines backwards before I ever owned or thought of buying a bass. Couple of mates bought electric guitars, so I bought a bass (Westone Thunder!). Other big influences were Entwistle (especially Tommy), Andy Rourke, Paul Simonon, Simon Gallup, Graham Maby, Sting's early stuff with the Police (Bed's Too Big, Dead End Job etc), and Horace Panter. Oh, and Jim Creeggan out of the Barenaked Ladies. Is it just me, or do you find it really annoying that when you listen to a song you can play, you only hear the bassline in your head? -
Just picked up a Skyline Bob Glaub as part of a trade, and I have to say that I'm blown away with it. Quality seems excellent, and it sounds just like a P bass should. I read somewhere that Lakland copied Bob Glaub's '64 p bass, and it certainly feels as though they've built a high quality 'vintage' bass, using modern technology. Lovely thin and fast neck, too. Well chuffed, and that's coming from a big Fender fan! Next question would be, how much better would a US BG be?!? Mark.

Just completed a Stingray / Lakland trade with Dan. Met at Northampton services. Really nice guy, and the Lakland is even better than described. Thanks mate! Wouldn't hesitate to deal with Dan again. Mark.

For sale subforum - shouldn't people have to put their location up?
After a recent spate of ads for sale here on Basschat that have no indication, either in the ad itself or in the user avatar of the seller's location, isn't it about time it was compulsory, just like a price? There's nothing worse than seeing a lovely bass for sale, only to find out after enquiring that it's several hundred/thousand miles away! I know that you could possibly search introductions but there have been quite a few posts by users not from these shores who have either just joined without a proper intro or who are inactive. There's nothing wrong with a distance transaction in principle, but unless you're dealing face to face or are known here it's not unreasonable to suspect a scam. Given the sums that basses can go for it's at least a courtesy to let prospective buyers know where you are. What do you think?
Agreed.
I think it's time for the "x posts before you're allowed to sell anything" debate again.
Agreed. -
Selling my 83 Aria Pro II SB Elite so I could go on a lads holiday... 2 weeks of sun and hangovers = over 20 years of regret I am a cock.
Similar story - sold my gorgeous Jetglo Ric 4001 at the age of 18 to go on a lad's holiday to the South of France. Twat.

I bought a hard case from Pete. Not only was the case a bargain, it was also received very quickly, and was actually in far better condition than Pete described (looks pretty much brand new to me, mate!). Very smooth transaction - top man. Cheers Mark.

Great news. Hope they have some decent bass stuff in there. It'll give me somewhere to go when Mrs Tredders drags me into Brum shopping!
Actually its just the servants quarters, the rest of our house was too big to get in shot.

LOl, no . That always gets asked. I took this at a wedding gig we did a couple of years ago. The wedding photographer lent me his very expensive lens to play with so i thought i had better make use of it.
Duh, the correct answer was "don't be daft, that's just our little weekend place"...

There's a thread covering the different couriers available. Might be worth a read here Mark.
