1. Having just bought a GT-6B, I've got my old Zoom going spare. Some info taken from the Zoom website: - -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3000B Bass Multi-Effect Features • Built-in bass synthesizer detects bass pitch and controls a sound source to generate unison phrases and harmonic voices. Unusual auto effects such as TRILL and Sweep are also available. • 45 built-in effects types covering a wide range. Up to 9 effects can be combined in a patch, lettng you easily crreate your own sound • 80 Patch memories (40 User and 40 Preset) • Hold Delay/Sampler (separate from effect path) can store and repeat phrases of up to 6 seconds in duration. Hold delay function is separate from individual effects. The delay time can be conveniently set by tapping a footswitch. • Unique attack effects like Defret, Slap, and Dual Comp. • 7 Bass Synthesizer modes including Harmonic Synth (4-voice). • Harmonized pitch shifter for intelligent pitch shifting. • Trill, Sweep (arpeggio), and Ring Modulator effects. • Separate effects modules for Comp, Dist/Amp, Wah, EQ, Synth, Effect, and Dly/Rev. • Seamless patch change function allows smooth transitions between effects by allowing the delay of the previous patch to continue after the patch has been switched. • Connecting the optional remote pedal RP01 provides an even more powerful range of real-time controller functions. Use as pedal or pedal pitch shifter is also possible. • Tap input allows delay time to be matched to tempo of song being played, using the function switch or a remote pedal. • ZNR Noise Reduction. • Built-in metronome function and auto-chromatic tuner enhance sessions. • User-definable Function switch operates as a bypass or mute switch and can also be used as real-time controller, for example to vary effect parameters or volume during a performance. • Input sensitivity and tone can be adjusted to match the instrument characteristics and the playing venue. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It's in very good nick and works perfectly. I've got the power supply, but can't find the original box or manual (the manual is downloadable from th web). There's one on eBay for £99 (seems to be around the going rate). I'll flog this for £75, inc postage and packing. However, I'll trade for anything interesting you may have lying around! Cheers Mark.
2.
Thomastik Jazz flats are nice IMHO
+1 for Thomastik. They sound ace on my Jazz. Mark.
3.
loads of bass magazines for sale.from about 5 years ago to very recently. bass guitar magazine, guitar world bass guitar and also bass players. good for a collector or someone who wants them for the lessons.there may be close to a hundred magazines. i am looking for £40 plus delivery.tim
where abouts are you Tim? Interested in these but I would think the postage would be a bit scary for 100 magazines..... Mark
4.
Cheers for that , very helpful
I got my CIJ Jazz from Far East Guitars and would definitely recommend them. The bass was exactly like the photos posted on the website, and was actually setup quite nicely too.
5. I asked a similar question a while ago.... a few good suggestions here: - http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=3272 I ended up getting SD Quarterpounders, but haven't had them fitted yet. Mark.
6. Looking around Youtube tonight, I saw some clips of a cardboard box double bass, which actually sounded half decent! Tracked them down to a website: - http://www.edencompanies.com/bogdon/orders.html There are a few videos of the basses in action, and a nice fretless version of Norweigian Wood too (under 'Bogdon the Artist'). Quite tempted to order one, just to have a play around with.... Mark.
7. Walked past Waterstones in Leamington Spa this morning, and noticed they had a new book "Ska-d for Life" by Horace Panter in the window. For anyone interested, he's doing a book signing & reading next Wednesday (22nd) in Waterstones Leamington. Would like to have been there myself (fond memories of learning Nite Klub years ago!), but I'm down South on that day. Doh. Mark.
8. Make sure you check the terms and conditions from the courier you decide to use. For example, Parcel Force will only pay out insurance claims (if it gets damaged in transit) if the bass is in a hard case. Crap but true. If you're looking for recommendations, I used InterParcel recently to ship a bass to Portugal. It reached there safe & sound, and they provided online tracking. Mark.
9.
Well done. £125 is a fantastic price for a fantastic piece of gear. I love this unit and have taken the time to make it work for me. However when using it, less is more. This is an extreme machine so be subtle.
I've been looking at one of these for a while now, and have been put off by the "you really have to work hard with these" stories. This one was too good to miss, though. (I may be on PM to you Steve when I get this, looking for some pointers ) Mark.
10.
You have a pm !
And so do you, Sir!
11.
Prospective purchaser has just dropped out so last offer before the bay. ( NB One of these is currently bid 160 GBP so possible bargain) Photo here; http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o294/fl...os/DSC_4511.jpg Cheers, Jim
hi Jim I will take this! Drop me a PM and we can sort it out. cheers Mark
12. Top bloke to do a trade with. Traded my Sub for his Jag, and it's immaculate, just as it was described. Mark.
13.
Bump
Having seen this bass in the flesh today, it's *much* nicer in real life than it looks in the pics - they don't do it justice. Mark.
14.
I work in mail order and most e commerce systems dont complete the transaction until either the goods are despatched, or untill a transaction complete entry is made manually It would be unusual to take the money before processing the order.
Yeah, I used to write / implement retail software in a previous job, so know that they won't have taken money yet, and thus they're perfectly within their rights to tell me that they're not going to honour the sale. Still sucks though - I thought I was getting a well priced new toy.... ah well. Mark.
15. I use this place, although I've sold a couple of old basses in eBay (including a 1960's Hofner President - what was I thinking?!?). I'm always tempted by some of the stuff on sale on Talkbass, particularly with the £ being so strong against the dollar at the moment. It kinda gets to the point where if you're buying an expensive bass, it's still much cheaper to factor in a £250 airplane ticket and collect it from the seller yourself. Mark.
16. Please - nobody buy this bass for 6 months.... that way we get to see more of these pics Mark.
17. Things I have for trade: - Black active Musicman SUB Tascam Bass Trainer (version II) Line 6 BassPod Any interest in a combination of some of those? Cheers Mark.
18.
Two on the Bay at the moment, 375 and 380 BIN item numbers : 330154124209 290148513193
Cheers Barney - I did notice those. £300 was nearer what I was hoping to pay, although £375 is still a good price. Mark.
19.
WTF... You paid a deposit for a particular bass, they then go and sell to someone else! I'd be kicking up such a stink that they'd be begging me to take a new one.
Well, they're insistent that no payment was taken from my card (despite the confirmation of order), so I'm waiting to check with my credit card company whether this is true or not. If they did take payment, then I'll kick up a fuss, regardless of whether they subsequently refunded it. If they didn't take payment, there's not really a huge amount I can do, unfortunately. Mark.
20.
tredders - Im after the big floor one with footpedals. Yours is the kidney bean jobby?
Yep, fraid so! Mark.
21. I've got a BassPod (original version), as new, boxed with PSU. Interested in a trade plus a few quid my end? Oh, I've also got a Tascam Bass Trainer II with PSU, I could consider trading. Cheers Mark.
22. An update on my Variax.... it was ordered 2 days ago, with next day shipping, and hadn't arrived this morning, so I called ElectroMusic. "Oh sorry mate, I think it's already been sold - I'll go and check...", so chappie trundles off for 5 minutes then comes back and confirms that the Variax has indeed already been sold, despite me having a receipt with my payment and a nice message saying "thank you for your purchase". Nice. He then said "We were thinking of sending you a brand new one we had in stock as a replacement, but didn't.". Well, thanks for telling me that - I feel a whole lot better now! Anyway, long and short of it is, I'll be keeping my eyes open for a cheap Variax - if anyone sees one on their travels, drop me a PM? Cheers Mark.
23. You ever tried Westones? There's a chap on eBay (Audio_Caffee) who specialises in in-ear phones, and operates a 'try before you buy' scheme - I tried about 6 different pairs before settling on Westones. I originally had some Westone UM1's from him, but upgraded them to the UM2's after trying them. I personally preferred them to the Shure & Etymotics I tried (although it's always a personal choice with things like this). The Bose IE's look like a nice bit of kit - I was in Bicester Retail Village (being dragged around by the wife) and noticed that the Bose Outlet Store has a special offer on at the moment, where you can get a SoundDock (iPod speakers), case and set of the IE phones for £270. Not bad when the retail price on the SoundDock alone is £250. Mark.
24. Just wanted everyone to know that Tayste has offered to donate £120 for the bass. He's obviously feeling guilty about sniping the winning bid with an extra penny Anyway, good man for chucking an extra £20 in - donation will be made to Basschat as soon as we arrange to meet up and hand the bass over. Mark.
