1. That's a very cool thing to do, Chris. If someone deserving isn't able to collect this, I'm happy to pickup the cost of the courier. As you said previously, I don't see why you should get all the glory 😊
2. Better pics added at the request of a couple of people. I've also taken off the bridge cover, but that'll be supplied with the bass. The dust and rain drops will be included in the sale Any questions / trades, let me know.
3.
More than a fair price thought this would of been snapped up
Thanks! I've had a couple of PMs asking about better photos. I'll take some tomorrow late morning and will update the thread.
4. Forgot to put in the original post that I'd happily entertain trades. Interested in a Variax (4 string), or pretty much anything gadget/bass/audio related! I can add £££ if something interests me.
5. This is now sold pending payment. I picked this up a couple of months ago, with the intention of modding it - maybe adding a J East, changing the pups etc. However, it was such a surprisingly great bass straight out of the box that I ended up just restringing it with flats, and leaving it as is. However, it's just not getting played (and I really am a P bass player at heart), so time to move it on. Previous owner had put black tuners, black knobs and a black bridge cover, and replaced the Squier decal with a "proper" Fender one, so it looks great. Updated with better pics. It's in very good condition. Couple of tiny marks on the back of the body - you can just about see them in pic 4 (towards the strap button), but nothing noticeable. The neck is very fast and surprisingly smooth. Truss rod turns and works as it should. Basically, a cracking bass for someone. Currently strung with 6 week old Elite Detroit flats, and has a nice 60's sound. £180, collected from junction 12 M40 (in sunny Warwickshire), or meet up in the Solihull/Oxford area. It doesn't have a case, so if you want it posting, I can sell a cheapie case with it and get it packed up. Any questions, let me know.
6. Double post, please ignore!
7. Great video - your dog is an absolute star. Pretty sure Mark King never finished a quarter note run by scratching behind his dog's ear Those pickups sound great. I picked up a Squier VMJ over the weekend and I'm blown away by the quality and playability.
8. The Jam - All Mod Cons The Clash - London Calling The Smiths - Hatful of Hollow Barenaked Ladies - Gordon U2 - Joshua Tree Pistols - NMTB RHCP - Blood Sugar Sex Magik (bit of a forum favourite by the look of things)
9.
That looks pretty good to me. Is that the new Orange OB1-300 / 500 amp in the pic. ? I'm curious to know how that combination sounds together. Dave
That was seller's pic, so I can't answer your question, Dave. Sound sweet out of my Eden Metro though!
10. I've always had a hate/hate relationship with Jazz basses. No matter which I've tried and owned in the past (inc a US 62 RI, a Jap 62 RI, a Jap 75 RI etc), I've never managed to get a decent sound out of one. I fully accept that this is solely down to my playing style/lack of talent, however, I can plunk away on a Precision and (occasionally) sound ok. Anyway, long story short, I saw a Squier VMJ advertised for a good price, and it was only 10 mins from home, so I thought I'd take a punt on it. The owner had added black knobs, black tuners, black bridge cover , and had replaced the Squier decal with a Fender one, so it looked great. Went round, picked it up, and it was exactly as advertised, so I bought it with the intention of being able to play around with it (change pups, maybe put a J Retro in there) and see if i could finally find a Jazz I got on with. First stop was Bass Direct, where I bought a cheap set of flats (Elite Detroits - £26), and took it home to clean it up and set it up. Quick tweak of the truss rod, change the saddle heights, put the new strings on, and I was ready to give it a thrash. Totally surprised to find that it's a really really good bass! Plays really well, has a lovely fast neck, and the standard pickups seem absolutely fine. With the flats on, it sounds typically 60's, but grab a pick and play with the tone control and it does a nice trebly almost roundwound sound. Not sure whether it's because I had low expectations, or whether it's a comparatively cheap bass, but I'm so impressed. Not sure I'll change anything on it, certainly not yet, anyway. Hugely impressed.
11. I like the white covers with that colour. Looks a bit different.
12. I had one of these and they're superb. I just used to leave mine flat and use the taste knob to go from trebly hifi to fat ska and Motown easily. Nice and light too, so easily portable. Good luck with the sale - if I was gigging more I'd be all over this.
13.
O dear, I have done it again......This bass will soon be on its way to me!!!!!!
We've all been there Bit of a bargain there, too. Make sure you do a NBD thread when you get it....
14. The flaming on that neck is beautiful. I don't need another bass. I don't need another bass. I don't need another bass.
15.
Apologies mate, spoke to my bro this morning and he has never had a manual.
No problem - thanks for checking anyway.
16.
Is there one on their website ? I know Yamaha have downloadable manuals for all their models going right back to the 80s. Maybe email them ?
No - not on their website and no replies to emails, hence me trying here. Should've mentioned that I'd gone down those routes in my initial post.
17.
http://manualslibrary.us/STEINBERGER-SYNAPSE-ST2FPA-SERVICE-REPAIR-MANUAL.html
Thanks - I saw that previously, but they want credit card details just to register...
18.
Hi, my bro has a Synapse, I will ask if ha has the manual.
Cheers buddy - I'd appreciate that.
19. As per thread topic, has anyone got a manual for a Steinberger Synapse that they could scan (or take pics of with their phone) and email to me? Thanks in advance!
20.
They are now £999 almost everywhere.
That's a good deal. I'm in Chicago with work and they had one in Guitar Center for $1500, which I've just converted to be £1235!
21. They look ace! The Jazz especially looks mean... Great pair of basses right there.
22. I had a day to spare after a business trip last summer and did a tour of the guitar shops. I wouldn't bother with the new big Guitar Center down by MSG - it was pretty dull. Rudy's had just opened a new store in (IIRC) Greenwich Village and the owner of the old store was telling me that they generally have the nicer vintage stuff there, so that would be worth a visit.
23. I had a Big Al a few years ago. Great looking bass and massively versatile, but it was wasted on me - I just set it to sound like a Precision and I already had several of those! I wasn't keen on the neck - a little chunky for me, but plenty of people rave about the necks on these. Looks ace in that colour though!
