Thanks! Yea I know what you mean about the comic book effect. Part of the fretboard washout was due to me playing in front of a window on a sunny day. There seems to be a lot of laquer on the maple board too which catches the light.

I’m new to this whole bass cover thing but I’ve got quite in to doing it during lockdown. Here’s my version of ‘Borderline’ by Madonna. 2010 Fender USA jazz bass with Kiogon VVT + Series/Parallel switch. I had it in series mode for this. DI’d via Sansamp bass driver

I got one of these second hand in the end. Really happy with it Seems to do a great job of focusing the sound of my jazz bass. More so than any preamp pedal I’ve used.

Worst case scenario a Bassoon or Trombone part may suffice if there are spares in the pack. They quite often double the bass line and octave higher. Ive had to resort to this a few times when both the string bass and tuba parts are missing

I have a Kent Armstrong magnetic pickup that I used to use for loud gigs. I used to blend it with a Realist pickup. I no longer use it as I don’t really do loud gigs on double bass anymore. PM me if your interested.
