Ibanez 1991 SR1000PN - Purple Flipflop Neon! *TRADE ADDED*
xgsjx replied to cetera's topic in Basses For Sale
Oooh. Never seen a purple one before. It’s in great nick too. My go to bass is an Ibanez SR1000 that I bought new in early 1990. Just a great feeling, comfortable bass to play. Bought an Aguilar PJ & OBP-2 off you about 1 1/2 years ago & they sound great in the SR. Whoever takes this off you won’t be disappointed. -
He did a lot of great stuff. Oddly enough, I didn’t even know he was still alive, until he died. 91 is a decent age to live to & he has a great legacy to leave behind.
-
That looks like a cool tool to have. Right, I’ve seen it now. Delete it.
-
Do you still play for work, or is it more just for enjoyment these days?
-
Listened to Nemahsis’ debut album today. 10/10! Quite possibly the best album of 2024 & it’s really an emotional & creative work.

I used a godlyke wall wart PSU (similar to a onespot) & daisychained the pedals. Worked fine for a good few years, but then I started getting a whine. Found out that the PSU was the issue, so got a 2nd hand T-rex Fueltank jr for @ £50 & no more whine. They power 5 9v pedals & don’t take up much room.

Agreed. Other than the claimed watts & the knob quality, I’ve only heard good things about the RH heads. But it’s not an answer to the question. I was querying if the 750 did actually have more power than the 450 or if they were both the same? Here's a follow up question… If they were both the same wattage, was the 750 louder than the 450 & if so, how? Did they maybe restrict the output on the 450?
-
Soundwise, I hadn’t heard anything bad from users (that I recall). The only other issue I heard of was the knobs on the front weren’t the best of quality, though how many that affected, I don’t know.
-
What! But why? I never got a chance to even know about it!!!! Where did it go? 😂
-
Weren’t the 450 & the 750 both 236 watts?
-
I’ve not been happy with them since new. I was hoping that they’d have worn in by now. 😂

I had a set of D’addario Chromes on my Ibby for 10 years & changed them just over a year ago for a set of Rotosound 77 flats. I'm considering putting the old Chromes back on, as I preferred how they sound.
-
Got an updated version with some changes. Another with me actually singing! Fair enough, I used a vocoder for the backing vocals and I'm autotuned & formant lowered, but it's my crappy vocal. I played most of the instruments live, with drums now played using Maschine pads. It's a parody on a popular type of music, about my own personal experience & how things have changed for me.

Unfortunately I didn’t get one. A Boss OC3 popped up locally for £30, so it won.

Ooh, I like the “serpent/forbidden fruit” idea & being exvangelical, that makes a good theme. I’ve made a start & the opening chord is Gsus4. 😇🤣

The Mrs farted in her G string & it sounded like a low B. Apologies, couldn’t help myself.
-
Although you can hear a lot of Beatles “inspiration” in a few of their songs, I always thought they sounded more like a Slade tribute band. I don’t mind some of their stuff from the first 2 albums, but the rest is very meh & the brothers are just tw@ts.

That's why I said right at the start “People have different ways of learning”. It’s not a “One size fits all” scenario. I find that if you instantly know where to find a named note on the fretboard, the others are easier to locate. Learning the circle of 5ths also helps. So if you find that D, you know that the string down from it on the same fret is an A.
-
People have different ways of learning. So if one of the above methods doesn’t seem to work, don’t be discouraged & try another method. The way I learned was by finding some key notes that I used regularly & where they are up to around the 12th fret. So I learned where every E is. I did the same with each string. Now if you want to find a C, just locate the D & move down 2 frets. Then once you’re fairly comfortable, the notes above the 12th are just a repeat of the lower 12.

I'm in with a short track for me. I started it on 8th August (808 day), so found a great 808 bass kick that I could bounce off the wall & over the days up until now, have worked on the overall track. If I can, I'll try & drop some lyrics on it, but I don't know that I'll get time. So here it is... How did that bike get up there?

Yet another band name suggestion thread
xgsjx replied to Leonard Smalls's topic in General Discussion
Your genre style sounds a little 1920s, which was Ragtime, so keeping with the previous suggestions, how about… Jazz Rag Though my first thought was to take a play on your avatar name. Chop your first to just “L” & change Small to Little, then swap them round. Little L -
I propose they change their name to the Yellow Cold Salad Peppers

I loved their early stuff. Freaky Stylee was my first introduction to them & BSSM being their last good album. Californication is where they got stuck in this mould & start to make every song sound the same, so I’d listen to them, but get bored very quickly (I really tried to like Stadium Arcadium, but it sounds so bland). Then more recently, they decided to show their support for apartheid & the pervy singer is not someone I’d ever want anything to do with, so I don’t even listen to their early stuff anymore. They’re on my boycott list.

Don’t be silly. It’s a sound hole. 😹
