1.
so im thinking G n T with slimline is sugar free right?
Whisky (by the pint if you like). That way, if you spill it, it's going to clean things.
2. Good to hear all is fine. Now you need to get liking the non sugary beverages.
3.
.....it looked like the solution was to basically submerge it in alcohol as soon as possible......
I think that's what the problem was, although it was a weak alcohol. Could Special Brew be the fix?
4. Moog Bass Murf. The only pedals similar are the Moog Murf & Midi Murf. Mines reluctantly for sale, but I've not got it advertised on here yet & if you were to buy it before I get the ad up, I'd donate to BC to cover the ad (& there's still more ad's to come).
5.
+1 Articulates what I've been trying to say without being too offensive, thank you.

I like your qualification of the level of acceptable offense.
I don't offend easily as I know sometimes trying to say something that's meant to sound honest can be easily taken the wrong way. It's not music itself, it's how I engross myself with it that's the issue. I liken it to smoking only as the feeling of breaking away from a habit & how I feel a mix of freshness & sorrow. I know that I'm doing the right thing, but there's a part of me that feels sorrow that I'm missing out on something.
6. There's one thing to practice & get good at something & to ask God for help with it, but if the athlete is like me & spending all their time on that one thing & none on God, then that is putting my trust all in myself & none in God. Therefore that object is becoming an idol & taking the place of God. I might join a worship band in the future, that would depend on where I'm called to be.
7. It's not playing music that's the main issue, it's my relationship with it. Everything I do, I put music first. If I go to church I think about how the music/sound could be improved, when I go to bed I put music on, when I get spare time I play an instrument. This is put before anything else that should be on my list. It's not been a sudden or rash decision, I've spent a lot of time thinking about it. I searched for answers, mostly for answers to say "Yes, continue in the band" to put my mind at ease & let me just carry on, but everywhere I looked, I got the opposite. I scoured the web, I read my bible & still got the same. Me being selfish. It's not a vice like smoking, but it has become an addiction & to be addicted to something is to idolise it, to rely on it & to worship it. Once I've broken the addiction, then I'll consider going back to music. I may keep just my bass (pack it away somewhere), but not the rest of the gear. I know there's plenty of Christian musicians. There's a lot of good Christian bands & there's also a lot of good bands with Christian members, Fieldy from Korn, Nicko McBrain from Iron Maiden, Alice Cooper (OK, I don't know any electronica Christians ).
8. I know many of you wont understand the reasons fully, but thanks for the encouraging words. After spending quite some time praying that I'm doing the right thing, I've found it's because music has always been an idol to me. One of the first things I do in the morning & last things I do at night is read about music & come on here (still doing it too!). Every spare minute if I'm not on here, I'm playing my bass or playing about with something related to music. It needs to be broken so that I have no idols. Once this has been done, then maybe music can be part of my life & not be idolised by me. Doing this has a strange feeling with it, very similar to when I quit smoking. I feel like I'm breaking free, but there's a part that is sad that the good parts shall be missed. It's not about the playing of an instrument, but my relationship with instruments. If I'm to be a musician, I'm sure it will be. I can always buy another bass/pedalboard/rig, I might come back to keys or to an instrument I've never played before like cello or sax. If it's my calling to praise God in worship songs, then most churches have their own instruments. Maybe God is just like the rest of you & hates it when I play a bit of slap bass & he's had enough.
9. OK, I know every year there's at least one post from someone saying "I'm giving up playing bass", & many probably do. So here's this year's one. I've been playing instruments since I was about 4. Started on keys, took up many instruments & settled on bass (still playing other instruments too from time to time) & I've played bass for 30 years now. But I've had a pressing on me. I'm a Christian. No big deal, plenty of Christian musicians. But over this past few weeks, I've been questioning what I'm doing. I prayed about it. I tried to find things that said what "I" wanted them to say so I could continue playing, but nothing has gotten rid of this feeling inside. Then today at work, just over the course of the day, I decided to call it a day. What's been most hard is that I'd joined an electronica band that has potential & are great fun. So if any of you are in range of Perth & looking to play electronica, there's an opening. I'll probably still kick around Basschat, but probably not on a daily (or hourly) basis. Gear soon to be for sale.
10. I'd say you're looking for more of an actual bass synth than dirt/filter/modulation combinations to get that sound, but playing with the fx on your unit should be good fun & you'll learn what they do to one another. Shep's blog is a good place to get references to what things do too. I like the bass sound. Not a bad song either. edited to change that to than.
11. Well done. Can't help but think of what the "25 ways to upgrade your strat" are? For most strat players I know, removing the strings would be 1st priority.
12. Fruit basket sounds good!
13.
BTW, you promised to commit seppuku (harakiri)! You promised!
I did.... I got better.
14.
HowieBass and others nailed it, I think. This bass part is the very essence of the whole song, IMNTHO, and without it, the song would be insufferable.
I'd rather listen to the isolated bas track from it for an entire day on repeat than listen to another 1:33 with the rest of the band!
15. As you don't get to see someone's face & hear their voice on the internet, things often come across differently to how they would be said. Even just a slight change in tone or facial expression can have a huge influence on someone's response. Anyway, you're all wrong. That's All of you! I'm right, I win. Goodnight!
16. I think the bassline is the best part of that song. I managed to listen up to 1:33 before committing hara-kiri.
17. It is rather good. He does a great cover of Take 5 with Al Jarreau. http://youtu.be/wL2W4UPGUBo
18. He's an award winning Jazzer. Jazz rarely gets mainstream play other than on the "Jazz Hour" on some channels. Another chap you may like is Kurt Elling. He's a very similar style of jazz & has a tremendous range. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7YkzVphoCg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZAZ21NnmHw
19. I get the theory behind your idea. Are you bi-amping or are the crossovers doing all the work there? I don't doubt your skills for the audio side of things, so I think the big job for you might be trying to make the cab "look" nice. It should take a fabric covering easy enough, such as tolex or carpet. If you have no pets, may I suggest for the ultimate coolness.... fur fabric?
20. I'd say incluse a short jam & if a guitarist noodles all over the shop, avoid him. Especially if he noodles during the vocals! It can be hard to find a guitarist who knows how to play appropriately. When to back off & how to put a good solo together & not just some random doodle where there are no vocals.

8x10

You might find the 2 4x10s have more low end than your current set up. The single 15 cabs do have better dispersion though.
22. Why not go into GG & try the bass out? This way you can try a few & see what one sits the most comfortable on you. When buying online, you have that risk where they may weigh the bass & you're happy with it & then in error, send one that looks the same but weighs more.
23. So is your question really "is a multi fx unit as good as stomp boxes?"? The answer to that is "it depends". Most multi fx units don't do a great job of dirt, but can do some things better.
24. What Doug says. If you were to have the fx in parallel, that would mean the signal would be split X amount of times, each one sent to individual effects & then all summed back together. This would sound like X amount of basses all playing the same bassline & each having a different effect on it. I do this with 2 channels myself, so the low end signal gets split from everything above 110hz, so when I dirty up the tops, the low end remains solid.
25. Like he above says. A multi fx unit doesn't put all the effects parallel, they still go one after the other & should in theory have similar results to their pedalboard counterparts.
