1. Has anyone successfully put the kettle in the fridge yet? You know, you get up in the morning, make a cuppa & get the milk out the fridge whilst you wait on the kettle boiling. Pour the water in the cup & walk to the fridge to put the milk back. I haven't as yet, but I've looked at the fridge door a couple of times with kettle in hand.
2.
Oh dear. Their gain seems to increase too. And less headroom...
Less headroom! As someone said to me... "Getting lucky at my age means remembering what you went into the fridge for".
3.
My hearing's somewhat buggered anyway; I needed myringoplasty operations for both ears after repeated infections (from my earlier years) gave me perforated eardrums and I have tinnitus in the right ear. I haven't a clue what the highest frequency is I'm able to reliably perceive but I suspect it's maybe only up to around 12 KHz these days (additionally, it's already well known that men lose more high frequencies than women as they age).
Trust someone to mention tinnitus & all I now hear in my left ear is "weeeeeeeeee"! My top end must be about 1khz in there.
additionally, it's already well known that men lose more high frequencies than women as they age
That would be due to women increasing their high frequencies with age.
4. Anytime I have to play with guitarists, I have to ask them to roll off the bass. If you're still not cutting through, increase your mids a touch & roll off your lows & put your rig close to a wall (a corner is better still). This should give a significant increase in how loud you are, though it might not have all the lows that you may want.
5. You could buy or make an A/B switch that has a 2 channel mixer on one side so you can switch between the EUB & the Bass. Wouldn't cost much & you get to use any amp you want.
6. I've a funny feeling that no 2 Fenders have the same QC regardless of where they're made. I found the Squier Jazz superior to the MIM, but the MIA was far better (it was a very nice instrument to play). The Jaco was slightly better, but not warranting the extra £500.
7.
Why do you ask?
So you can plug 2 basses in at once, of course!
8.
BGM tested the RC cabs and found the 2x10 to be about 10ohms and the 2x12 to be around 11ohms. No magic involved, just TC playing around with numbers in order to sell stuff again.
That makes sense. Cheers for clarifying.
9. I'd try it in different configuration & use your ears. Why don't you think stereo mode would compete with your drummer?
10. I have chorus at the end, but try it in various positions as it might have a cool effect on how the different drives react to it.
11.
But palm muting on the bridge is a perfectly valid technique. So why limit yourself when it is possible to either buy a bridge or alter one to be comfortable. I am a pick player and move around between the bridge and neck a lot, I wouldn't like to have the option of resting on the bridge taken away.
I agree, I use palm muting too. I'm not suggesting taking anything away or limiting yourself, just adding the ability to play with your hand over the bridge without getting it shredded on a Badass. Why alter or change the bridge when a slight change in technique can improve everything?
12.
Well it is - but I can only refer to my own, which is to rest my palm on the bridge when using a pick. Even for the E string.
Which is why I suggest moving your pick hand nearer the neck (even just a few cm). My playing is similar to when I use a keyboard. Keep the wrist up. The forearm leaning on the body can give you ample stability.
13. That's subjective to technique. I play a mix of styles & the only time I rest my hand on the bridge is for palm muting. See when you play the E string, where does your hand sit? I'm taking it doesn't sit on the bridge? It doesn't need to sit on the bridge for any of the other strings. Yes it may take a little practice & some getting used to, but there's more advantages to be had (such as less blood on the bass ).
14. You could try moving your right hand closer to the neck, thus removing your hand from the bridge?
15. Dirt is any kind of fuzz, distortion or overdrive (it makes your sound dirty). Some sound good after the filter, some don't. Mine does nothing for me after the filter.
16. This looks pretty cool, though I'd imagine the dispersion is pretty poor...
17.
http://basschat.co.u...r-bass-players/ http://basschat.co.u...n-for-bassists/ A 'Repetition'.
I had suspected deja vu. Well a bassist's job it to provide a repetitive groove for the singers & dancers, so you could be right.
18.
I have read that the compressor should be before the ovtaver in order to even out the signal but tru both.
A better move is to learn how to play properly. Using a compressor to get better tracking or to even things out points to having a lax right hand technique.
19. Playing blues is one of those things where it's gonna be great fun or you're gonna want a noose. Blues was where I started on bass & I can have great fun jamming to something like West Nashville Boogie & because it's in Em, you can solo over the root too! However, I don't think there'll be much of that in the electronica band.
20. The chap at bright onion will make it however you want. I've not dealt with him, but my prev singer had a few custom bits made by him & said he was a top notch guy. Well put together too. The other option, if you're handy with a soldering iron, is to make your own. Making a bypass looper is about as hard as sticking lego together (AKA it's not hard). This way you can have things laid out how you want. I can get you a schematic if you like(in easy to follow format too)?
21. You'd be better just buying a decent multicore cable & make a box that takes the jacks from the pedals in & sends to a multicore socket. You could either have a similar box at the amp end, or just put a couple of jacks on there (depending on your needs).
22. Hopefully the 2600 will be next on their list.
23. It's a marketing thing. Most people associate watts with how loud a thing is, which has really been false marketing from the outset. So TC's marketing feel they need to advertise their heads to show that it's as loud as all the 500w heads (which it probably is). I'm gonna take a guess that to allow 3 cabs to be run, the amp can either run to a lower Ω than the 4Ω they state, or the cabs are a higher Ω than the 8Ω or 4Ω, or (most likely) both.
24. I'm going for a guess that it was in a language that they don't understand, like English? I'm still trying to work out how this cab malarky works. How do they get the cabs to dictate how powerful the head is? Let me get this right... The RH450 is a 236 watt head (that is stated on TCE's website, though it does say it peaks at @ 450w), but plugging 2 400 watt TCE cabs into it makes it an 800 watt head? Sorry, but to the best of my knowledge, that's impossible.
