Pairing cabs

I don't think the Fender 112 is a 2x10? The 112 in the title suggests it may be a single 12".
2. & I'll agree with both Lozz & Chris.
3. From what's been said on here, the Sansamp does a rather good Ampeg sound. The Big Muff is a popular pedal with a lot of bassists (& guitarists). Dirt is kind of a form of compression on the sound, so compressing it further with the compressor set high is gonna completely change the sound. There's a lot of good dirt pedals out there, have a look a some of the threads on here. I couldn't advise you on a compressor as I don't use one, but there's no correct place for any pedal order, just what you like. I leave compression to the sound engineer to decide if it's needed. Best advice I can give is to try things out & use your ears. Have fun.
4. I'd say for funk, you want an envelope filter. A compressor isn't gonna make the bass sound funky if it doesn't sound funky without the compressor. Octaver can be of use as can a fuzz or overdrive pedal. Like Musky says though, if you don't know fx, get a multi fx unit.
5.
Out of curiosity, has the Zoom stuff got better in the past few years? I had the first generation 506 (from around 1996) and while it did some fun stuff, the sound on cleaner patches or bypassed was definitely lacking something compared to plugging straight to the amp. I still have it in a cupboard somewhere, it might be fun to dig it out some time...
There's a few on here that gig the newer Zoom gear, so I dare say it probably is of better quality. Line 6 gets good rap for multi fx.
6. If you're sitting at home playing your bass, then toys are fine. if you're out gigging, then you want something a bit more durable than a plastic box & sound quality to match.
7. I used to have a Zoom 708 (black & orange thing). I liked a couple of the sounds on it (the detune sounds could come in handy), but it couldn't replace any of my pedals (ok, maybe the chorus). I used it once at a gig & it died mid song. I unplugged it & just went bass > amp.
8. How's the amp?
9. If you've got a good drummer, you can use the drips from the drool as a metronome.
10. If I don't get time to sort out a couple of levels then I'll send you what I've done. Really just the electronic vocal thing. I like it, but the 2nd run is a little loud against the acapella. My fave part is setting things across the stereo field. Arranging the vocalists into groups was fun.
11. What's the deadline? I've got mine sitting waiting to be mastered, but not got time right now.
12. I'm not gonna make this month either Got a wedding fayre to attend & still got loads to do!
13. Unfortunately not. The Thumpinator is more of a low shelf filter (or maybe even a high pass filter set over most of the spectrum). The Markbass amps have a VLE dial which is a form of low pass filter, but like a true LPF, only reduces the top end & not the lows & the VPF is a mid scoop (that also increases the lows & highs).
14. It might be the next pedal I get (though that might be next year).
15. I would have thought the point of having this would be to put it at the end of the chain? No point taming the lows from the bass to add them all back on with fx! But yes, I'd like one too.
16.
I wouldn't necessarily class a compressor/limiter as an essential, IMO. My 'essentials' board is tuner, octave, overdrive/distortion & envelope filter. But then everyone is different in their 'must-haves' Si
Same here. I don't have a compressor anymore. Essential pedals is determined by the music & sound that you're after. A song that my band have started writing, the Moog Bass Murf set to pattern 10b is essential, otherwise the song never would have came to be.
17. Cool playing, but I recon he maybe had a couple of bad runs & spliced the best bits together.
18.
The reason I ask is because Gear4Music are still selling there's for the normal price of £435. I wondered why the drastic price drop by other shops? http://www.gear4musi..._kword__match__ Are they just bad amps or are they badly designed i.e. heavy and awkward. The same thing happened with Line6 amps. I've played through a 300 watt one and they sound great (and insanely loud for 300 watts) but shops are giving them away.
If you think of what a combo that a pro would use from the likes of Ashdown, Markbass, Trace Elliot, Phil Jones or Hartke would cost, then think about who this is aimed at . This is probably designed for entry to gigging use & therefore fits in that bracket. There's been many combos like this that start with a higher RRP & then fall in price as they're outsold by others such as the TC BG combo or it might even be becoming discontinued. There's probably nothing wrong with the combo other than weight, I wouldn't expect it to compete with my Markbass combo in sound quality at volume, but then at @ 3x the price difference, I shouldn't.
19. It's about the same price as the TC BG250 1x15 combo. So it seems to be priced accordingly. Don't think because is has more watts, it's louder.
20. No! Until she tells us otherwise, her ID on here is YouTube Girl. Just like I'm xgsjx. But yes, I think Marta is rather good. Happy Happy?
21.
Quavers/semi-quavers , yeah 1st finger for low F sharp then 2nd finger for the 1st high F sharp followed by the 1st finger again. I can also do it 1st finger low F sharp then 2nd for the 1st high F sharp then 1st finger then 2nd finger, so alternating 1,2 etc.
Nice. That YouTube girl's got some nice playing going on there too.
22.
So that means it takes at least 20 years of playing bass before playing 6 string guitar? : )
That should be compulsory for all wanna be guitarists.
23.
I'm not sure the statement was metaphysical in an way. (?) I just heard the tune. It can be played with either thumb or fingers. But yeah, it takes some technique. So the short answer here can simply be "get better." : ) Seriously, if not using the thumb, I think it would be best if it were fingered -- index for the low, then middle and index for the octave, and then the index AGAIN for the lower note. That seems like more movement but it's actually falls more naturally. (To me).

1st finger for the low F sharp, then 2nd finger followed by the 1st finger for the octaves, just repeat that. Fine advice about using a metronome and start at a low tempo, maybe 60bpm, and just increase the tempo as you find it easier. Ignore the tapping suggestion , and also the thumb suggestion. Why would you want to tap it ???????? Unless you've practiced incorporating your thumb into playing with your fingers, the sound would be too different for it to work properly. The sound between 1st and 2nd finger is noticeable, more flesh on the 2nd finger, your thumb would sound even more heavier.
Index finger from D to E string on quavers? That's a tricky bit of string skipping you guys do if you can play that at speed & consistency!
24. I've been there. This time last year I nearly sold it all & bought a synth. Then I thought "I'll give it one more go". I advertised for musicians on Gumtree, Joinmyband, Bandmix & at work. I decided that it was going to be an originals band with a couple of covers that we could rework in our own style. Hired & fired a few "musicians" & after almost a year, I now have a 5 piece band that all get on really well with one another & actually get on outside of band life. Most recent addition was the singer, who can really sing & is a writer too & we're now looking to find a keys player (though not essential as the singer can play keys). So have a think what you want to do. Do you want to give it up & take up another instrument?
25. Nice playing. Where'd ya get the gold Jamiroquai suit from?
