Ahhh, but is it fuzz or gated fuzz? I can't listen to the clip just now.
-
Some companies will try & resist helping you, some even wait until you threaten them with court action.
-
Yes. Although Overdrive & Fuzz are both variations of distortion. I have a distortion pedal on my board that never gets the gain past the 9 o'clock mark as it's just too high gain scratchy (my guitarist would love it). I also have the drive knob turned up a little on my Bass Murf to get the warm fuzz that you're talking about.
What about the EU directive, overridden by the SoGA? I suppose the SoGA will be difficult to invoke should it be needed after the guarantee period
I think whichever you need, you can use. I've used the SoGA a couple of times & had results. Though Game tried to tell me that the SoGA didn't apply to them (by letter too), so I forwarded the letter to Trading Standards & got a replacement Xbox.

The warranty is two. The SoGA is 5. It means that the item must be fit for the purpose it was made to do & be free from any defects.

All the tracks are the same. 7 stems & how I wanted to give the guy recording us a slap! We recorded 12 songs that day & got 4 tracks back. He said he couldn't get the others off the recorder.

I didn't expect everyone to like that song. People have different tastes & I don't take it personal. It was written as a tongue in cheek change to our usual rock stuff. We wasn't a Reggae or Ska band. There was a few folk didn't like last month's choice, but I personally thought it was really good. Reminded me of Steve Earle (& also Take it easy by Eagles).

Cheers. I've browsed the ACG website & just drooled all over my keyboard. That ACG Jazz is rather nice, though I wouldn't have it in black (had my share of black basses over the years).

Recommend a guitar forum similar to Basschat
xgsjx replied to ingmar808's topic in General Discussion
Here's a money saving tip for one bunch of musicians.... Make a duplicate of this forum & just add an "r" to make Brasschat. Saves a fortune on all the individual blowers too. Though you might find the in demand players needing things like Tubachat or Hornchat (though that one might get a lot of visitors expecting something else). -
I have them panned hard left and right. There are gaps in either one so it sounds good when used together, it's unfortunate though that only one track has effects
Why not try just a slight pan or putting one in mono & putting the other on a wide stereo spread? Might be too phat a bass sound (though I don't think there's such a thing as too phat).
-
There's also a lovely contrast between the 2 bass tracks.
The original just had a clean bass. I recorded one with effects that's never been used. Never thought about using the 2 together though!

As long as you don't do to me what they're doing to the poor drummer! He's getting replaced by a frikkin drum machine!!! Edited to put the smiley in so no one thinks that I was being serious.
-
I've never been happy with my playing on this track. Playing it at a jam or a gig & it's been fine, but every time that I've recorded it, it's been one thing after another (from an itchy nose 1/2 way through, to just getting fat fingers).
-
In the mix that I did, I used a couple of duplicate drum patterns to do just what Dad asked. I didn't know about that what 51m0n has shown was possible. I had thought that something that could do it would be cool, but expected it to cost a bit. Cheers for that!

The GK is on page 3 of the amps & cabs for sale section (I just checked it was still there). Mudpup's looking for £225. There's also a TC BH250 for £180 on the same page. If you can push your budget, then there's a few Markbass amps on the first 3 pages for @ the £300 area.

There's a GK 2x12 going for sale on here that would do the job & is a very inexpensive cab. But the question is.... What's your budget? Are you looking to replace the combo too? I would, there's plenty of good inexpensive heads to be had too!

The drums was originally all mic'd up, but the guy recording us accidentally turned them all off & we only got the overheads & the kick. I've re recorded my bass for this one & there's 2 versions to choose from; a clean bass line & one with some funky wah. The "finished" version that I did also has quite a bit of editing & bits chopped out, but that was for a demo for getting gigs. Frigorifico are sadly no more. But they was fun for the 5-6 years they was together.

It depends really on what sort of music you play & what sort of sound you're after. It's a bit like asking "what sort of car should I get". My most useful pedal is the Moog Low Pass Filter. It's the only pedal that I rarely turn off & does so much for "just" a filter pedal.

Cheers guys, I'll go & have a listen just now.

Trying to get a couple of rock guitards to play something different (despite them saying "yes, we wanna try something new") & so far I'm having about as much luck as a homeless guy. So with that, can anyone suggest some good songs that have 2 guitars, keys, drums & bass that don't sound like guitar band songs (rock, indie, punk & so on)?
-
My day yesterday was an interesting one. Had the day off, so a little bass playing in the morning that I enjoyed, then band practice was in the evening from 8-11. We normally only have a 2 hr sesh, but the rooms was offering an extra hour for £1. I'd sent a couple of song ideas to the band for them to work on & had suggested we us some of the time to discuss things & work on writing a song (maybe a get a 2nd started too). I'd also suggested we play a couple of jam songs to get us warmed up, that was a bad idea! The one thing I asked for from the start when forming the band is that we're not a rock/indie band. I want to do something different & asked for musicians that also want to do something different. So lst night started with Come Together, which was ok. A bit rockier than usual. Then we did Crazy (the Gnarles Barkley version) & it sounded like a punk version. Then proceeded to play a handful of other songs & they all rocked (despite me trying to put as funky a bassline as I could). After an hour & a half if this crap one of the guitarists turns round & says "I don't think I can do this much longer, I might go home at 10:30". So I suggested we work on one of the song ideas that I'd sent. That went as well as a train crash! None of them knew the chords, the melody or the rhythm of the song & they just played standard rock versions of the chords with plenty of distortion on everything. We lasted 5 mins doing that & then it was back to playing melancholy guff. I'm gonna suggest we write the songs at home via web with one another & if that doesn't work, then I'm gonna leave the band that I've started. So my day as a bassist started good & turned crap. I wa really looking forward to getting writing too.

Daft question coming...converting combo to bass head??
xgsjx replied to fender73's topic in Amps and Cabs
Alternatively, you could superglue some perspex to the top & bottom of the amp (once it's removed of course), allowing you to see the inside whilst you're playing (something to do whilst the guitarist is doing another solo). -
I don't know that I was born a bassist, but I've been a musician since I was a kid. I'll play any instrument that I can get my hands on, so just now that's bass, guitar, ukulele, tin whistle, keys & also a spot of drumming tonight too! I'd probably say I'm more of a keys player who loves the low end & bought a bass.
