Well done Skol! I'm guilty of not voting this month. I never got time to listen to all the tracks. I did listen to a good few f them though. I've probably missed the voting deadline on the Mix comp too.

My sound is what fits the song. Some songs call for clean bass on the Neck or Bridge pick up, some call for a little dirt or chorus & some need plenty of fx. It's all just tools to use with the band to make our sound.

Have you abused the BT? Why has it died? If it's not been your fault, then sack the warranty & take it back under your statutory rights. It's not a £30 amp & should be lasting much longer if it's been treated right.

Yes, but you might need to change the drivers. Why do you want a 2Ω or 4Ω cab? Will your amps not run at 8Ω?

I think you need to talk to your band. Let them know your rant, they might go "Oh, we didn't realise". As for the written list, wait & see what comes back. Don't answer t straight away other than to say "I'll review your suggestions". Take the list & if it seems unreasonable, find videos of bassists that do the same as you (preferrably famous ones) & point this out to them (or you could learn to dance whilst playing bass).

I've got the 2x10 combo & couldn't rate it highly enough. I play in a funk/breakbeat/house/acid jazz band & everyone in the band has complimented the sound (though that's a mix of the combo, the bass & the effects). Like chris b said though, get to a bass shop & try some stuff out.

What do I do when I don't feel like practising? My wife, build my house, go on Basschat, do something in the garden* or play Xbox. *actually it's some weed ridden land, but it's a garden to me.

If it's a file on your computer, then it needs to be no bigger than the specified size (if I mind right).

Ahh, I took your problem being the opposite way round! What about turning the volume on the bass down a bit to suit?

It should sort your drive issue too as the fx loop is usually a lot lower signal strength than what comes from the bass. My MF101's drive is set to @ 10 o'clock.

It's amazing what £100 can do to your hearing. I've heard more folk saying there's no change in tone than folk saying there is. When I changed bridges, there was no change in tone, just a little less sustain. However, that's not to say that you're not right. I've never compared a Badass to a stock Fender bridge.

I'd get to a shop & try some things out. Whereas I like Markbass, you might hate it. Some like the OBT, others say it's a 1 trick pony. I'd choose either a 2x12 or 2x10 (or two) over a 4x10 due to the better flexibility & dispersion that the former offers. I find the 1 Markbass 2x10 a lot louder & bassier than the Trace Elliot 4x10 I used to have. Mainly due to far superior drivers with a bigger excursion. If I needed more volume, I'd get either another MB 2x10 or a sub to go under it that would allow me to turn the bass back a bit. That would put less stress on the drivers & allow me to turn up further. So far, PA support has nilled my need to go any louder.

I have some loops that I got with various DVDs & CDs that I sometimes use, but I usually find it quicker to write a pattern than traipse through countless beats looking for something similar to what I want. I've been doing quite a bit of research into bridges over the past year & have discovered that they do 0 to change the amplified tone. Some may offer a bit more sustain (or should that be less sustain? ), but i replaced the Ibanez bridge with a cheap Vox bridge & there's no difference in sound, just looks & adjustability. I'd been toying with putting a Babicz or a Schaller bridge on as they both look cool as & have good adjustibility/stability, but I'll probably end up with a cheaper Gotoh at best.

Put a little oil based paint in your amp. Spiders hate the smell of paint. You don't have to paint your amp if you don't want to, just put some in a small container (bottle lid).

Ahh, a Meatbox. If you want a Meatbox sound, I think you might need to get an FX32.

Nope, but you've got me curious. I'm gonna have to go hear this Dod now. Without hearing it, my only suggestion is to turn the envelope amount & the resonance to 0 & put the cut off to @ 10 o'clock. Having the res above 2 reduces some of the lows that it can produce.
