1. 1 word... Coldplay Ok, that's 2 words, but they redefined bland! Now that's true innovation.
2. I quite like it for what it is. Good bass line with a cheesy 60s poptastic sound. It's far better than anything by anyone who just does a straight up tribute cover of a song.
3. If you're getting noise with the batteries then it's either your amp or one (or more) of your cables between the bass & the amp. It might be something simple like one jack is wired the opposite way or you could have a damaged wire (I used to get this when my cats were kittens & they'd pop a fang in a lead, causing all sorts of noise). Or like Mr Letts says, it could be interference from your phone. Good luck with it.
4.
I'm at the stage of giving up. I just can't get the theory to sink in, even the basics. I'm really starting to think there is something wrong with my brain. It's maddening.
Get a tutor (this, coming from the guy whom never took lessons). Getting the basics of music isn't hard & there's a good techniques section on this forum. Rmemember, YouTube is your friend.
5. What colour was it?
6. I'll 2nd the Ibby SR. Makes the other's feel like baseball bats. The higher end SoundGear range can cover just about any sound you want.
7. I've got the TC one, which is great. Guitar Toolkit has a better tuner though & can be used for multiple instruments & has different tuning modes. It is £6 though, but it's the one that I use the most.
8. Nice one. You could also introduce your fretless Overwater to some songs.
9. I tried to think of some, but there's none. I've always had good taste in music!
10.
Woah! Calling bluejay, Seashell, SpaceChick & Co. !!
If their household is anything like mine, it'll be the Mr who gets lumbered with the ironing!
11.
Yes, like the i-Patch - for pirates.
And the i-Ron for the wife.
12.
What about just, i-ther?
That's the Apple version?
13. I think you should change what is single choice & what is multiple choice on your poll. Like what others have said, sometimes I come up with a bassline straight away, sometimes it can take a while & sometimes it'll start off as onething but get rewritten at a later date as I spend more time with the song. Some basslines are simple, some are complex, it depends what the song needs. Some simple basslines can be a challenge as it could be a simple 3 note sequence, but the stamina to keep it going can be pushed. Some of my complex basslines that I thought would be hard turn out to be easy to play once I get a technique going. I've always written my own lines, but sometimes another member has said "I've got an idea for a bassline" & I'm happy to play it. When it works, it's nice to see the smile on their face. The main things that are important to me are "I enjoyed playing that" & "does it fit the song".
14. I expected these... Sorry.
15. I too thought I might have found an improv/swing band to join!
16. I did it on the poly finish on my Ibby. Blowtorch & scraper. Heat the paint until it just starts to shift with the scraper (it may bubble a little). Once the poly is off, there will probably be a layer of shellac which can actually be peeled off by sanding it. Don't worry about light scorchmarks, they can be sanded out. It went from black to natural, oiled & waxed. I've posted links to my refinish a few times. If you want me to pop a link, let me know. It's time consuming to do a good refinish, but worth it & you get a "look what I did" feeling.
17. Would you need to get a pole dancer if you're planning on entertaining the audience?
18.
This thread's worried me. silddx appears to have changed his username to xilddx. Spooky or what?
I noticed that. Maybe it's his doppleganger?
19.

Stop that!
20. I don't play DB (unfortunately), but I've had a few folk out their DB through my MarkBass combo & it sounded sweet.
21.
What you say sounds pretty fair except for the simple fact that the meaning of words is not subjective. "Entertainment is something that holds the attention and interest of an audience, or gives pleasure and delight. It can be an idea or a task, but is more likely to be one of the activities or events that have developed over thousands of years specifically for the purpose of keeping an audience's attention." -Wiki So you should ask yourself: How pure is something that's made with the sole purpose of satisfying an audience? Don't play the arrogance card on me, it's getting pretty old and tired by now.
I can get where you're coming from, but look at the word "entertain". In part, it means "to provide someone with enjoyment". That someone could be you, me or the dog, it makes no odds. If art isn't made for someone to enjoy, then what is it's purpose? The opposite of entertain is "to bore" or "reject". If art isn't there to entertain, is it there to bore?
22.
Here's mine so far, I'm going to upload as I go to keep motivated https://soundcloud.c...northern-lights
I like that. will be good to hear how it progresses.
23. I don't see why it couldn't be used for bass then (as you note, it has a "Bass" setting), but I'd give it a try first against some other small combos in that price range. I'm taking it you do mean the bigger of the 2 combos? Oddly, in your avatar your mando looks like a Tbird & you look like a furry rat.
24. Are you planning on using it for guitar as well (AKA do you play the twangy things)? If it's just for your bass, get a small bass combo. There's plenty for the same money as these are (unless you're getting it free).
