Riders on the storm by The Doors used to be a regular when I first took up bass & it's still good fun. Never realised it was the same age as me!
I know I can link my bass up to the PC through my pedal, I'm sure we have a microphone of some description here. My issue is other instruments (drums, keys etc).
Download Reaper. You get an unrestricted free trial of it & you can download plenty of free VST instruments in the sticky at the top of this forum section (here). Once you get your head around using a DAW, things are easy.
Mate I honestly cannot wait till i have my music room up & running ! so I can record the Upright bass through the Big muff/Synth & expression pedal set up I have. I swear mate, it shows up on the richter scale !!!! Doooom!!!!
Now that I am looking forward to hearing!
THis is something I'm experimenting with but with the upright......I jumped out of my skin when I put the EUB through the synth & expression pedal. The Ibanez does do the job extremely well. as a matter of fact I can sometimes sit arsing around with effects & differant settings just on the bass alone when i'm supposed to be practicing lol
Fire up a breakbeat drum pattern (Either in a DAW, from a drum machine or something from Wikiloops) & have fun playing with your fx.
but then thats not just the FOH sound guy/girl .... 9/10 its as much to do with the pesky guitarers who wont turn down and deafen the rest of the band let alone the audience
That's a problem I've come up against in just about every guitar based band I've been in. Their excuse is usually "I need it at 11 to get My sound", even though their "sound" is normally guff at that volume.

& here's one with me on bass (& 8 others!)... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bTmAnGzNQxE
Sorry for being a twat but what is DnB/dubstep music - can't say i've heard of that before. Dave
Stuff like this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2tRX5eL5wcE This...
Well, I thought I would put together my ideas and lay down some groove tonight. It is really rubbish Back to the drawing board lol I didn't even get to laying down any drums! It's on Soundcloud but it's not my entry
I'm sure with a few tweaks you could make it sound great. Mine started off with some drums & a VST bass & chord seqquence that I ended up hating, so plugged in the bass & started jamming to just the drums & found something I liked fairly quickly. So I'm sure you can do better.

What, like a dance group? I'm not sure if you're referring to the same thing, but the only way I know of DCAs & VCAs is through synth architecture. Is it to this you're referring?

How long does stuff take to come from Thomann?
xgsjx replied to stingrayPete1977's topic in General Discussion
I ordered some cables from Thomann & DV247. Thomann took 3 days & DV 4 days. -
Cheers Skol. Next month I'll try some vocals to show how bad my singing actually is.
Hell yes you are:singing, nice one I do fear for all the girls and boys if your the santaclaus! This is scary, a generation of bass players doing the vocals whatever next!
He he. I took advantage of the fact that I have a cold with a really bad cough & sore throat. I'm not gonna make a habit of it.

Believe it or not, I actually got mine finished! It's even got me [s]singing[/s] talking on it. https://soundcloud.com/xgsjx/the-santa-job

I got some stuff actually started. I'd found a couple of percussion samples that I like & today I came up with an appropriate bassline & guitar part. Got some lyrics in my head, so I "might" try & sing, but I'll probably just add the lyrics as a written piece. Gonna try & do some more tonight.

If your bass isn't also going through the PA, then I'm with Pete. Putting your cabs vertically gives a better sound dispersion over the audience (there's a few threads already about this) & also it puts the sound closer to you & your audiences ears. I prefer the vertical look too.
Basically, i have a mid 90's (i think) Ampeg 8x10, it has a single 1/4" input (Pic attatched). Would it be possible to wire the new type of jack plate with three 1/4" inputs and two speakon inputs into the cab? If so is there anywhere online i can find a wiring diagram?
Erm, why? I can understand wanting to change the 1/4 jack to a speakon (if for some strange reason the 1/4 jack was not sufficient), or even to have a 2nd jack/speakon for daisychaining 2 fridges when youre playing the Hammersmith/Dog & Duck, but 5 ins??? I don't get it.

Learn as many instruments as you can. I took up bass a year after getting a guitar & prior to that I played a few other instruments (started out with keys). The benefit of learning other instruments is that you can gain a better understanding of how they work together & it makes writing songs much easier.

Can the X Factor judges hear what we hear on the TV?
xgsjx replied to leschirons's topic in General Discussion
Em... why? Aye, i was just being a bit angsty, no real malice behind it. but it must be a real kick in the nads to see that you album is being sold in asda for 37p with "Whoops" written all over it. the price alone would kind of put me off.
Sorry Milty, I think it's a spoof CD based on the chap saying that he lives with his nan & sings (badly) to her. I could be wrong though. -
Brighter than what, pine? Rosewood is brighter than maple, and ebony brighter than rosewood. The tonewood debate rages on amongst the wags in the same fashion that the driver break-in debate does. Luthiers don't debate tonewoods, because they know from experience what different density woods do. Loudspeaker designers don't debate break-in amongst themselves, for the same reason. But pundits will jabber on forever.
I didn't think the WAGS would be interested. I thought it was all shoes & handbags?

If anyone needs their new speakers wearing in, send them to me & I'll get them sounding how they was meant to within 2 months or your money back!
Great ad, but if you want a terrible bass player you'd be better off advertising on a guitarist forum.
Are you implying that any of the "not so good" bassists on here are too modest to admit their abilities?
