Thanks for the reply but that is my point I would have to buy two more 8 ohm cabs as if I had bought the 2x10 8 ohm cab I would have just had to buy the 1x15 8 ohm cab so I can't use the 2x10 cab I have got and just add another cab I will have to buy another two 8 ohm cabs?
I'd sell (or take back to shop & exchange) the 4Ω cab & get the 8Ω 2x10 & then you can add another 8Ω 2x10 when needed (or any other 8Ω cab). With your amp the most you can use is 1 4Ω cab or 2 8Ω cabs (or 4 16Ω cabs).

For what you're looking for, you could make one fairly easily (if you can solder). I made a simple Loop/Blend pedal. If you want schematics, this is a good place... http://experimentalistsanonymous.com/diy/index.php?dir=Schematics

If they do, you could play awkward & tell them that they cannot use any of the parts that you wrote, including all the basslines.

Interesting list. Some of them are ex-drummers & not earned the majority from being a "drummer", a bit like having the richest Bassists & putting Randy Jackson or Johnny Depp on there.
-
Once you've got the majority off, get a selection of paper & work your way down. Maybe start with 70 grit, then 110, 160, 200, 250 & finish with a couple of good sands with 300 (or finer). Wetting the wood raises the grain, so depending how strong you want that grain to show is how early on you decide to wet the wood. You can either use a spray bottle, a wet rag to wipe it with, or "wet n' dry". If you're going for oil & wax, then you give the wood a heavyish coat of oil with a rag & then sand it into the wood with the fine paper, leave to dry & then do it again. Takes a week or two, depending on how oiled you want it & then leave it another couple of weeks to fully dry before waxing. It's easier to do & get a good finish than spraying is (unless you're already competent at spraying & have a place to spray).

If you liked the Ashdown sound, then maybe an ABM 210? This is also worth a look... http://basschat.co.uk/topic/183283-tc-electronic-2x10-cabinet-immaculate-condition-reduced-to-l190/

What's reasonably cheap in £s?
-
If you do go for a natural finish, may I suggest sanding in several coats of Danish Oil (about 10-20, depending) & then a couple of coats of Beeswax? Here's something I did... The bass used to be black. Looking forward to following your progress.

Sonuus Wahoo - Could this be the best bass pedal ever? new vids!
xgsjx replied to gazgoldstar's topic in Effects
Just had a look at the manual & looks like it could be a good contender. I think I would have liked to have seen either some CV or an exp pedal in at least, but looks like a good dubstep machine. Let us know how it is when you get it. -
I think you should be using more of your bass' tone in your band & sticking your pedals in a loop so you can drop some Dubstep in there during the last song. A lot of the songs we play use just my bass with maybe a little chorus, others I use a dry sound & then drop everything on at once for a section & then turn them off again & then theres songs where the FX are part of the song. I'd keep your effects & just use them when called for.

First gig you went to - who was in the band?
xgsjx replied to paulconnolly's topic in General Discussion
The first band I ever saw live was Odyssey in 1983. I was 12 & it was in a nightclub in Stirling. they wouldn't let me in to start with as I was wearing trainers (which cost me £50 back then!), so I ran home, put on an old pair of black shoes that had red & blue paint on them & they let me in! Went backstage after the gig & blethered about music. -
Cool effect. Certainly better than the one at 3:30. I'd just go for that pedal if that's the sound you want. Going 2nd hand means you wouldn't be wasting money if it ended up not what you want. INteresting use for a Gramma Pad, but I suppose he is a guitarist & wouldn't have any other use for it.

Dragging like a one legged dog tonight! Though it seems to run a bit quicker on the iPad.

Orange Terror Bass 1000 into an Ampeg 8x10.

Ampeg BA300 210 Bass combo, horrific experience..
Kinda goes to show that watts has sod all to do with volume & that some companies sell things just on their brand image.

There used to be a Carlsberg Bass Bomber combo in our studio (abuot 6 years ago) & whilst it wasn't the best sounding thing, it could certainly blast out the 100 odd watts it had to be heard.
-
Here's my opinion. The multi effect modeling toys are nice for quickly recording ideas on your laptop computer. Real handy for this. They do however ALL kill some of your instrument's signature tone and certainly do NOT stack up to using a bunch of proper analog stompboxes plus a real tube comp. Gawd knows I have tried so many of them. Owned and own Line6, Digitech, Boss and TC Electronic multi effect and modeling units. Never used any of them in live situations. For guitar as well, the Boss GT-8 is in the bottom drawer in storage and I'm using an AMT SS-11 tube guitar preamp with a holygrail reverb (AMT stompbox with its own fx loop, how cool is that?) instead. Long story short: multi fx units are tone killers.
I'm not so sure about them being "tone killers"? If Pantherairsoft is willing to replace the majority of his massai board of quality stomps for a M13, then I think he would take that into account. I've only had a couple of multi fx units & now have a small selection of stomps, but I can't say I noticed a loss of tone when I was playing live.

I think it's probably a good wee combo to get you started. There's a couple of folk on here that have had/still have that combo, so they might chip in on your other post.

GK are good amps (for the most anyway). It depends what you're wanting it to do though. Are you gigging & if so, are you using PA?

What about adding a "bright box"? Markbass make a pop on box that just houses a tweeter & Trace Elliot used to make them with 4 tweeters in. Or if you're handy with tools & a soldering iron, one could be made in no time (you don't need to worry about box size). You could then decide if you want piezo or horn & pop a crossover on it. Simples.
