1. I like that. Very nice bass with proper wear & tear & not one of those "Roadworn" wannabe's! It's good when you find "Your" bass & stick with it. Me & my Ibby have been together for 22 years as well (though it's been stripped of it's paint & had a change of guts).
2.
Makes sense - he's a very influential guy.
Very true, and I've learned a few things from him via youchoob. He's very good, but I thought you had to be in a band & famous (not "youtube" famous, but "general public come to see your band" famous)? What/who's next? Epiphone "buzzy fret" Ryan Larson signature bass? Good for those comedy gigs!
3. Wait a minute! You're telling me there's a Sandberg MarloweDK signature bass? What is the world coming to????
4. I bet he's annoying to a lot of drummers in the fact that he makes things look so easy, especially when he's spinning his arms around like a bam. WoT, I know you've been eager to see that!
5. I've got TI Jazz flats on my Ibby & can reccommmend them. Tension isn't much different from rounds.
6. you could always cover your S12 in Fur Fabric.
7. Sorry, my bad. You wont get that sound with an effects pedal. After having another listen, the best thing for you to get that sound at 3:30 is an American Bloke.
8. Like Chris B says, try the Markbass 102HF. I'd also take a look at Barefaced. A single 12 wouldn't have any more guts than a 2x10 unless you got a well designed 1x12 & a poorer designed 2x10. Ideally, you want a good drummer. A good drummer will carry all your gear for you.
9. It depends on what you need it for? If you're playing through PA, then a single 12 might well be all you need. What about a 2x10? I find it does all I need as anything that needs more usually has PA.
10.
I'm not exactly sure... I was 15 and working in a Guitar shop and the phone line had snapped outside, not the main supply line, just a line running from that and into the shop. The boss asked me to fix it. I didn't even know there was electricity running through the line. I was standing on a stool, so I could reach the break, when a Police car stopped a couple of kids who had nicked a bike. I was watching them and not really paying attention to what I was doing when I got the shock. It was only 50v but I felt it.
Hehe. I never expected more than a couple of volts to be going through a phoneline. What an educational place BC is! Quality story. I could only dream of working in a music shop when I was 15.
11.
Plug the markbass speaker into the extension socket. Leave the Ashdown in the car.
The head in the combo is on the blink.
12.
just using them like monitors in stereo ,)
Then Yes. Just treat them like 2 active monitors (& if you want, you could plug your bass into a stereo pedal such as a chorus or a Bass Murf & fire one side to each).
13. Well if you can't find a bolt to replace the fuse, then 3 matchsticks do a grand job of replacing the plug.
14.
OOh, and opportunity to watch thins again. Björk makes me feel funny when she screams!
That's another song I'd love to do. I get a very similar bass sound to the original with my effects & it's a good workout for the left wrist.
15.
They used to send over 100V AC down the line to ring the bell. Enough to give you a nasty tingle!
I did not know that! Shocking! I've had a few 110v shocks & burns. All back when I was in my late teens/early 20s.
16.
I still dont see why people begrudge spending a fraction of the cost of something to go and fetch it? Glasgow to Bassdirect in my wifes car would cost me £78 (I just google mapped it to check) If I was spending £1500-2000 (or £3500 on a bass as somone was the other day) I would just see it as an adventure, that £78 is going to look a bargain compared to what you are going to lose when it comes to selling the wrong amp after 6 months and doing the whole process all over again! That's worst case scenario, there must be somewhere nearer and a train may be even cheaper if you then had the stuff delivered to your home a few days later.
Where's the "Like" button when you need it! I'd take a weekend away & make a holiday out of it.
17.
Years ago I was in a mates house who had done just that with his electric fire. We could smell burning & by the time we found what it was the cover of the plug was a white melted drool pouring down the wall. Much of the plug was glowing but it was still working.
Quality!
18.
I'm not sure how we can complain about too much protection from electricity. I did electronics in college where we had to go out on placements. I spent an awful lot of time around old people who liked to brag about the biggest electric shocks they'd had, which never made any sense to me. In all my life I've only ever had two, one from a phone line a few years before I even went to college and one from the mains a few years later, and I feel stupid for getting the second one, certainly not proud of it. Although it was a bloomin' stupid way to get it... I installed an IEC plug on a cable which I had left plugged in at the other end! I'd nearly finished before I actually got the shock, I had installed the wires but the earth tab popped up just as I was about to put the cover on and I got the shock when I pushed it back down.
How did you manage to get electrocuted from a phone line? Did you try sticking a RJ11 into the "live" orifice on a mains socket (pushing the earth down with a matchstick, no doubt)???
19. Do you mean daisy chaining them or using just like monitors in stereo?
20. That was really good. My only criticism is the string noise, but that's an easy fix. Fascination Street is a good song to play along with too.
21. It really depends on the song. The only covers we do are ones that we can rework to suit us & therefore is more like a remix of the original rather than a copy. We try a song & if it doesn't fit after a couple of runs through, try a different approach. If it still doesn't, then we drop it. There's plenty of good songs to cover, so don't dwell on something just because you like the original. I like Bjork, but I'm having trouble convincing a 50 odd year old Canadian blues singing bloke to sing Hyperballad.
22. I don't see why that pedal wouldn't suit bass too if that's the effect you're after. Though maybe a good multi FX unit would suit you better (Zoom, Line6 or Boss come to mind)? Have a read at Pantherairsoft's blog on Effects bassics.
23. None! Both will blow the trip if there's a short. The fuse is there as an added safety feature to protect both you and your device.
24. Save money on fuses & just use a piece of 1/4" bolt. No fuses to blow! Maybe I should pop that in the top tips section?
25. Take the "line out" of the Marshall & plug it into the "aux return" on the Carlsberg. Job done, bish bash boom. I used to have a Carlsberg Cobra 90 Bass head & it had a DI in on the front of it. It said "Direct Inject", so if your's has something similar, it'll work fine.
