Good question. I've no idea! Hopefully it'll be in the manual. Have you tried it since? Might just be the protection circuit.

Have you tried any of the rigs that you're looking at? I thought I wanted a certain rig, tried it & didn't like it (just wasn't my sound). Ended up trying out tons of stuff & got a MarkBass combo in the end. Your next holiday should incorporate a city with good bass shops & dedicate a day (or two) to rigs.

After hearing about Hartke's customer service, I'd be more than happy to own one of their rigs.

First question is: What's your budget? I spent a good bit of time looking for the best combo I could that was around £1k & ended up with the Markbass CMD102P. You can get them 2nd hand for @£600 (give or take £100). There's loads of good combos to suit just about every budget & going 2nd hand will get you more bang for buck.

The 1x15 has slightly more surface area than the 2x10. For £750 I'd look for a good 2x10 or 2x12 & get a decent amp (Markbass would be my recommendation). If you're willing to go 2nd hand, then there's plenty of things to be had. I'd get rid of the 4x10 as it's got poor dispersion (compared to a 1x15 or vertical 2x10). Barefaced cabs are worth a look.

Setting the dials/sliders to "Flat" on an amp doesn't mean the sound is a flat response, you're getting how the manufacturers want the amp to sound. So Flat on an Ampeg is different to Flat on a Hartke & so on. But yes. I set my Markbass to "flat" & then fiddle the EQ to suit the venue if needed. My sound is already heavily messed up from the board before hand though!

Good choice (I have the same combo). The best cab to add would be this... Stick them on their end (vertically) for a nice tall rig that everyone can hear.

There's a lot to be had in your budget if you're buying 2nd hand. If its an amp you are after (not a combo or amp & cab), then there's a lot of nice stuff. I'm gonna suggest trying MarkBass stuff. If it's a combo you're after, then the MarkBass 2x10 combo is very hard to beat & you'll get a s/h one for around the £600 mark.

What sort of sound are you after? The Boss OC-2/3 are great if it's synth sounds you're making. The OC-3 can track to Ab & also has a decent "poly" mode.
