1. The argument over 10s & 15s is a bit like arguing over whether beef comes from a cow.
2. You could just split the signal on the pedalboard. I do.
3. Very nice! Chosen any cabs for it yet?
4. The other things such as Bar Staff & Security are not jobs that would be done as a hobby, whereas playing an instrument is. I prefer to get paid & most gigs usually are, but I don't mind playing for free occasionally.
5.
I'm still confused as to the difference between 'Jam' and 'Preserve'.
Id rather preserve my finger.
6. I'm afraid I couldn't tell you that much about them, but there's been a few folk on here that really like them. Best bet is to try a few rigs out that's in your budget & get what you like the most.
7. Ohms are quite simple to understand really. You get an amp that will take a 4Ω load, you can run either 1 4Ω cab or 2 8Ω cabs & it'll put the full 500 watts to it or 1 8Ω cab will take about 350 watts. When you start asking how loud a thing will go, things start to get a little more complex as watts have little bearing on volume. Couldn't tell you that much about GK stuff, but recently some folk was saying that the stuff with gold speakers is rubbish in comparison to the other GK stuff. There's some good deals going on TC Electronics stuff just now like this... http://www.dv247.com/guitars/tc-electronic-bh500-bass-amp-head-and-bc212-full-stack--99777 Depends what your budget is though.
8. When I used to play, I had a Korg MS10 & a DW6000. That's how long it's been, though I've been looking at the M50 or maybe a s/h M3.
9. Have you cancelled the order? There's plenty of electronics firms in the UK that supply pots & good service all together.
10.
You were obviously not looking hard enough!!! :-)
Well it was a nice surprise.
11.
And a penis.
How do You know? Infact, don't answer that!
12. How did I miss this on Monday!?!? Brilliant stuff!
13. Have fun at Bass Direct.
14. Why a 12? the only advantage it has is a smaller cab. But it also reduces a lot of other parameters & the 2x10 would most likely drown out the single 12. If you're getting 2 cabs, it's usually more sensible to get 2 the same.
15. I've used DV247 a few times & found them really good. It fills you with confidence & respect when someone from a company pops on here (or similar) & offers advice & help. I'll certainly look at Hartke gear in the future (if I don't switch back to keys) and if it was a split decision all ticking my boxes, service would be an extra box ticked for Hartke.
16. I'd say this... #29
17. I'd say a couple of 2x10s. But I did say that in your other thread & would post it in your new one if you wasn't determined on 12s. So on your new thread I'll say go with either 1 or 2 2x12s, depending on the cab. If it's a Barefaced, then you'll most likely only ever need one from what folk on here say (unless you're planning on some large tours).
18. Decibels = how loud a thing will go. Watts are different. Obviously you want cabs with a decent power rating to avoid burning them out volume, but I think any decent cabs are gonna handle the amp. It's down to what cabs you like the sound & look of.
19.
Good effort. Toight like a Toiger
Haha! I watched that film 2 nights ago fir the 1st time in yonks! The Mrs hadn't seen it & was expecting none of it to be funny, she was surprised. Cigar & a Crepe?
20.
Having played in heavy rock bands since 2001, look at my pic (though was like this 10 years prior to that)
But had you started before hand, things might have panned out different!
21. Wattage doesn't = volume. Go & try some amps & cabs & find out what you like. I could tell you the LMII is a brilliant little amp that will do all that you could ask & I wouldn't be lying, but some folk don't like it. I'm vary happy with mine.
22.
Nice one. Im not sure what is best tho. 2x 112 OR 1x 212.. Or even (a new contender) A 112 and a 210?
2 2x10s would be the best option IMO. But it is subjective to the cabs in question.
23. Like Lozz says, Barefaced get a lot of love & Alex does a 90 day return if you're not happy with it. It depends on what you're looking for it to do. A visit to a bass shop might be a good idea?
24. Good to hear you're getting somewhere. Experimenting is the answer! I use my filter after the distortion, but different pedals suit different ways. There is no "wrong way".
25. I'd put the EQ flat & playabout with the distortion (& other dirt sounds) until you find something you like, then play about with the EQ. I boost my distortion channel at notches of 350hz & 775hz & also slightly at 2khz ish. anything under 110hz and notched at 525hz is almost clean (unless the octaver is on). Spend a bit of time playing with your fx, it's 1/2 the fun & a joy when you find "that" sound.
