Ooh, I like the “serpent/forbidden fruit” idea & being exvangelical, that makes a good theme. I’ve made a start & the opening chord is Gsus4. 😇🤣

The Mrs farted in her G string & it sounded like a low B. Apologies, couldn’t help myself.

Although you can hear a lot of Beatles “inspiration” in a few of their songs, I always thought they sounded more like a Slade tribute band. I don’t mind some of their stuff from the first 2 albums, but the rest is very meh & the brothers are just tw@ts.

That's why I said right at the start “People have different ways of learning”. It’s not a “One size fits all” scenario. I find that if you instantly know where to find a named note on the fretboard, the others are easier to locate. Learning the circle of 5ths also helps. So if you find that D, you know that the string down from it on the same fret is an A.

People have different ways of learning. So if one of the above methods doesn’t seem to work, don’t be discouraged & try another method. The way I learned was by finding some key notes that I used regularly & where they are up to around the 12th fret. So I learned where every E is. I did the same with each string. Now if you want to find a C, just locate the D & move down 2 frets. Then once you’re fairly comfortable, the notes above the 12th are just a repeat of the lower 12.

I'm in with a short track for me. I started it on 8th August (808 day), so found a great 808 bass kick that I could bounce off the wall & over the days up until now, have worked on the overall track. If I can, I'll try & drop some lyrics on it, but I don't know that I'll get time. So here it is... How did that bike get up there?

Yet another band name suggestion thread
xgsjx replied to Leonard Smalls's topic in General Discussion
Your genre style sounds a little 1920s, which was Ragtime, so keeping with the previous suggestions, how about… Jazz Rag Though my first thought was to take a play on your avatar name. Chop your first to just “L” & change Small to Little, then swap them round. Little L -
I propose they change their name to the Yellow Cold Salad Peppers

I loved their early stuff. Freaky Stylee was my first introduction to them & BSSM being their last good album. Californication is where they got stuck in this mould & start to make every song sound the same, so I’d listen to them, but get bored very quickly (I really tried to like Stadium Arcadium, but it sounds so bland). Then more recently, they decided to show their support for apartheid & the pervy singer is not someone I’d ever want anything to do with, so I don’t even listen to their early stuff anymore. They’re on my boycott list.

Don’t be silly. It’s a sound hole. 😹

Mine has an extra hole in it though. Got sound leaking out of it.

I think if you were to stand on that, you’d get some bite. 😂

I really like it. It just polishes whatever you put into it. Sound quality is like playing through a good desk.

I think my board is done for now, though I may change the filter at some point. I’ve yet to find a sound I really like from the Pearl White, but then I’ve not really played with it yet. the 2 Demon FX pedals still need some Velcro too.

Been without an octave pedal for a few years now & was thinking I should get one. This popped up on Facebook today for £30, so I jumped up on it. Gave it a quick test & it works as it should.

A Rise & a laptop will give you all the sounds you need & loads of expression too. I use one of these to great effect. https://reverb.com/uk/p/roli-seaboard-rise-25

If you’re wanting to recreate 80s synth bass sounds, I’m gonna suggest getting a Roland Cloud Pro subscription, an audio interface & a midi keyboard to plug into your laptop. I did a lot of synth bass with pedals (& still do some), but synths do a far better job.

The MF-101 is the only pedal I really regret selling.

I’ve notvowned one, but what about an SGT-DI throught a powered cab?

Just had a listen through this month’s selection. Top notch indeed. I thought I had a good track too, but these are fantastic! gonna have to have another couple of listens before choosing. Tough choices indeed. 😎

One thing no one has mentioned that I like about Apple Music… When you bounce a song down in Logic, there’s a tick box to add it to Music. This not only sticks it on the Mac I’m working on, but also my other Apple devices with Music on them, such as my phone. This allows me to then play it anywhere…. In the car, in my earbuds, over a wireless speaker & so on. Perfect for seeing how your song sounds on other systems. Could never get on with spottythigh.

Genz Benz is the only one I can think of that hasn’t been mentioned & no longer on the go.
